Just found this on the MTV website: Wilmer Valderrama Captures Rob Thomas' Wife In New Video 09.20.2005 8:45 PM EDT Actor plays an eccentric who tends to carrier pigeons in clip for 'Ever the Same.' Rob Thomas Wilmer Valderrama has a thing for pigeons in Rob Thomas' latest video, "Ever the Same," but he also has his sights set on the singer's wife in the clip, a Hitchcockian fantasy where "Rear Window" meets "Vertigo" meets "The Birds." The clip, which was shot earlier this month in New York with director Phil Harder, will feature a lot of special effects and animation, including an illustrated New York skyline with a somewhat distorted perspective. On the top of one building is Valderrama, an eccentric New Yorker who tends to carrier pigeons. Rob and his wife, Marisol, who also stars in the video, peer through windows of tall buildings overlooking Valderrama's rooftop. The bird man steps inside a makeshift cage made of chicken wire and wooden perches as pigeons land on his shoulder, arms and hand. He writes a message on a piece of paper and ties it to the leg of one bird, which flies down to the streets below. The bird lands in the middle of a vibrant city street — also abstract and illustrated — where bike messengers cruise past, taxi cabs whiz by and people pass, in a blur of stuttering motion. Someone discovers the bird, unties the note, reads the message — and suddenly the black-and-white world fills with color. While Rob watches, Wilmer's character releases more pigeons with more messages, sending more color out into the world. Rob then looks across to another tall building, where Marisol is standing near the ledge of an open window, her curtains blowing in the breeze. An extreme sense of vertigo is brought to Marisol's scenes because of the way her building is drawn, according to the video treatment. Marisol's character is also watching Valderrama's, who releases a pigeon that lands on her windowsill. As she unrolls the piece of paper — which includes a few of the song's lyrics — Rob and Wilmer looks on, watching her lean out of her window. Somehow she falls, and as she's dropping, her body magically changes into a colorful animated bird that takes flight and sails to Wilmer's rooftop — where he gently lifts her into his cage. — Jennifer Vineyard www.mtv.com/news/articles/1509958/20050920/index.jhtml?headlines=true

Looks like Rob's promotion team is really going to try to build him up for holiday sales. This video sounds really good and having a hollywood star in it can't hurt. I predict this to be one of Late Fall\Winter's biggest hits on Hot AC, POP, and AC.

I see that TIHAHB is starting to lose spins. Currently at #3 on the Hot AC Chart. So....when do you think the next single should be released??
Hey, did you hear that TIHAHB was being used by ABC in commercials to promote their Sunday night shows of Desperate Housewives and Gray's Anatomy? ABC had used Lonely No More earlier in the year in a DH commercial.
And Rob's tour starts this week. I'm traveling to Pittsburgh next Sunday to see him. Should be a good show. I'm interested to hear what covers he throws in.

I just read a couple of concert reviews on Rob's site. It looks like his first long tour is off to a great start. I've seen many "greats" perform over the years and I would put Rob right up there as a live performer. He sounds so much better live than on record.
My two shows aren't until late November, though.
I think we'll start seeing Rob's new video on VH1 in mid-November. I actually think the song and video might be released about the same time instead of the song being release 5-6 weeks ahead of the video. I think the record company would want to help boost album sales during the holidays.

Saw Rob last night in Pittsburgh. He was great! His vocals were fantastic! He sang most of the songs from his solo album. He also sang MB20's If You're Gone, Push, 3AM, and The Difference. He also did Dear Joan and Smooth. He picked some really great covers too. He soooooo rocked "Let's Dance" by David Bowie. It was really, really great, with the entire place singing along. And he did "Baby Can I Hold You" by Tracey Chapman. Just him and his guitar. Beautiful! He also dueted with one of his back-up singers on "Stop Dragging my Heart Around". I love to hear covers at concerts because it gives you something new and a window into the artist's musical taste. I had heard that Rob was doing "1979" by Smashing Pumpkins on this tour too. But I was so happy with Let's Dance. Really fun! It was a great concert. I saw him in April, which I think was an even better one, since everything was so new. But this show was more polished and Rob's vocals amazing!

"It's when you're drinking and then you wake up the next morning to find you've downloaded 80 Dolly Parton songs." - Rob Thomas on "drunk iPoding," as quoted in Cargo magazine.

I saw Rob in concert last night in Cleveland. Excellent, excellent show. Had 10th row seats (actually had a 4th row seat way off to the side, but the 10th row's view was better IMO). Rob was in great form. Voice was perfect. He did most of the STB album, some MB20 tunes (Push, 3AM, If Your'e Gone, and a fantastic acoustic version of Downfall ) He covered Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine", Bowie's "Let's Dance" and dueted with Anna Nalick on Petty/Nicks' "Stop Draggin My Heart Around". He really seemed very up and playful and has a lot of great chemistry with his other bandmates. Just a wonderfully talented, very likeable guy. Great, great show. Warm up was the wonderful Anna Nalick. She was darling and quite funny herself. She definitely has star power, so it was neat to see her on her way up. Can't wait to see her in a smaller venue.

Something to Be moves up from having fallen off the Billboard 200 last week all the way up to #104 on this week's chart after the AMA ETS performance. Go Rob! He really should do more TV promo with "Ever the Same," maybe after it goes for adds on pop--I assume this will happen after Christmas? *taps fingers impatiently*

I picked up Rob's new DVD at Walmart for $5.88. I wasn't going to get it, but I'm glad I did. It has a video of the Making of the LNM video which is quite good and funny. He is so endearing cuz it is just so hard for him to perform the dance moves. He just has no rhythm whatsoever and it is obvious how uncomfortable he is with it all. Very sweet. There is also the LNM and TIHAHB videos and a live acoustic performace of LNM from a Katrina telethon. I would recommend the DVD for the price, if you can find it. It's only at Walmart.

Per another post on this site, Rob's soundscan numbers in the US are 1,116,925. I'm hoping that Ever The Same can help the album sell another 100-150,000 over the next several months. Those numbers would be very respectable for Rob. I intially hoped he would do 1.5 million but that may be a stretch now.
BTW, I love the video for ETS.
