Eep. :o OK, that's the only part of this that I like. I am intrigued, too, though. I guess the early report of a "Ricky Martin"-esque sound for this song may not have been too far off the mark. I guess I keep thinking of how much I'm used to hearing Rob Thomas' voice supported by a fairly heavy instrumental arrangement, but it sounds like this will be very different. I wonder how the new sound will play on Hot AC. It probably makes sense that it is impacting on Hot AC and on CHR/Pop at the same time. This is going to be very interesting. 2 more days, right?

Check out the MB20 website. I barely recognized the pic of Rob. It confirms the AOL First Listen on 2/1/05 and the CD drops 4/26/05. www.matchboxtwenty.comPS: I vote Rob grow his hair out!

"Lonely No More" is up at AOL! You should be able to hear it here. It's way more pop (and Ricky Martin/Justin Timberlake) than I expected (even with the warning). The chorus is catchy. I bet it'll be really great live, but the instruments sound a bit canned to me. The first verse isn't very compelling, but the chorus works.

I love it. There is something so familiar sounding about the chorus. I can't put my finger on it.

This is infectious as hell. The chorus is instantly infectious. The lyrics are pretty cool. The beat is killer. His vocals are the best I've heard them. Nothing like anything I would have expected. This sounds like "Smooth" meets Timbaland meets... so many other things, I don't even know. It's a real musical blend. GREAT JOB ROB!!!!

Oh, I love this! I predict a big hit here.
I didn't like the Ricky Martin references awhile back, but this works for me. I love the drum intro too.

When I first heard it I definately got a non corny Enrique Latin vibe from it. I love this song so much! I'm sure this will be a cross-format hit. With the new changes being made to Billboard and all the subsequent radio play, I see this charting really high!

I wasn't planning on buying this album, but now I am. If the other songs are like "Lonely No More" it might be THE cd of 2005, for me anyway. Seems like it has great summertime driving to the beach with the windows down potential.

Wow, the picture NORTHCOAST mentioned really does look unrecognizable at first: "Lonely No More" has been added to Mediabase so we'll able to start detecting spins now as soon as they start coming.

Rob posted this on the MB20 website this morning. I noticed several threads of peeps who weren't thrilled with the song and Rob must have seen them too. But I think the overall vibe is good from the MB20 fans.
From Rob:
hey guys. just wanted to take a minute to say thanx for all of the kind words about the new single. for everyone who didn't like it, that's alright. i know it's different but i promise that there will be plenty of stuff on this album that you'll love no matter how you feel about the song. just remember, everytime you put something out, it's a chance for you to try something new, and when you don't, that moment is wasted. i had to take 3 and 1/2 minutes out of being too self critical and trying to find the meaning in my life, to write a song that i just felt made my [*****] happy. ya know? anyway, please go easy on the people who don't like the single. it's all good. i love you guys and i'll keep you posted on all of the goings on. damn the man, rt

Wow, he's really cool with his fans. It shows a lot of character to actually defend the people who don't care for his song. I love it when artists appreciate their fans.

Yeah, wow, credit to Rob Thomas -- that's really cool of him to say what he did. Good for him!
I like "Lonely No More," though I'm not crazy about it. I bet I'll like it better as part of ...Something to Be. 3 more months! I hope they leak clips of some of the other tracks over the next few months. Or maybe he can perform some other tracks for Sessions@AOL, to give a taste of the variety on the album.

Upon first listen, I really like it, but not crazy about it either. I'm sure it will grow on me. I can't wait for the album. I can see radio embracing this fairly well and giving him a good sized hit.

My Hot AC station has been playing it as a "WORLD PREMIER" every hour all day long. Then at late afternoon at the DJ switch the two guys were discussing it. The one said he had been at a in-store appearance and they cranked it up and everyone was jamming to it. And he said "It's HUGE!!!!" really emphatically. Yay! I'm actually surprised I heard it today. I hadn't seen it going for adds on any of the charts that I checked out.
About the song, it's really pretty much what I expected Rob to put out actually. Some peeps on the MB20 board are saying they are shocked at the sound, but if they paid attention to what Rob had been saying over the last year, they'd know it was going to be more pop-friendly. I like to withhold judgement until I hear it a dozen times or so. But initially, I'm liking it. Really hope it does well for him. He really seems like a nice guy who is into the music, not the stardom.

Personally, I love the song, and may even become a fan myself with this album if the single is representative of the whole.

I heard "Lonely No More" on Z100 yesterday afternoon on my way home from work. It sounded really good on the radio.
