I agree that too much of any one artist is a bad thing. I don't care how popular an artist is, because for every person who loves a song you find 1 who hates it. You really don't want to isolate those who don't like the music just to satisfy those who do,when there are so many other songs out there that could be played instead.

It finished at #7, if I remember correctly. Oh yeah. I guess I was thinking of "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion, which was #1 for about nine weeks in 1998, but didn't finish in the Top Ten. IIRC, the same thing happened to "MMMBop" by Hanson in 1997.

As of today (Tuesday), the bullets are finally completely back to normal, and all spins from New Year's weekend are no longer included in either column.

Both of these songs didn't have much longevity. For songs that spent 9 weeks on top, I think both were only on for about 25 weeks (if that) (and this was during the time of the 25/26 rule, so they didn't even go recurrent!). It certainly hurt their year-end standings a little.

3 Doors Down is down to +247, and it's not even in the top 40 yet... I smell a major flop. I know they are historicly slow gainers, but this is really bad.

Alicia's "Karma" had no bullet last time I checked (few dasy ago), and now has a healthy +260 J. Lo is almost out of the Jump! section altogether. It's looking more and more likely every update that she'll flop She will however make the Top 30, even if Usher pushes her back to #31, Maroon 5 goes recurrent.

Seems like they foresaw this since the next video has been shot already. We'll see how it will go for J.Lo

i dont think its fair that i have to be saturated with eminem and usher.Β i mean come one radio is play like 4 songs off of eminems album right now. Their spin totals only add up to 8100 (3365, 2314, 1483, 938) which is less than the #1 song so that's far from saturation.

That was a little bit of a change up in the top ten with Destiny's Child leaping over Kelly and Ryan. "Soldier" is my least favorite of the three.

Are those my only options?Β ;) exactly. why does eminem need to be have 8000+ spins on the radio at all times? Why can't one of his singles flop just like other artisits?

That doesn't count recurrent plays or D12 plays though... That only adds about 547 more spins (57, 44, 250, 110, 53, 22, 11) which brings his total to 8647. In comparison, Kelly Clarkson gets 10343 spins on ONE format with just TWO songs. or spins on other formats Well that's just a ridiculous thing to say. why does eminem need to be have 8000+ spins on the radio at all times? Why can't one of his singles flop just like other artisits? All the time? He just had a new album released. Don't be a sore hater.

or maybe not flop, but I consider artists like Eminem and Usher, along with their labels, to be pretty "greedy" by releasing so many singles at once. it hogs space that could be given to other artists.

I agree! I've been one of the main advocates for stations to stop playing "Breakaway" and to let it die already. that would allow other artists to have room too. but in that case, her label didn't send out multiple songs at once - they were released months apart, like normal singles. the damn stations just refuse to drop the previous single!
there was no need for Usher to rush out "Burn" and "Confessions Pt. II" when his previous singles were still at/near their peak. and how many songs has Em's label sent for adds in the past three months?

As much as Usher annoys me, I think the single releases were smart from a business standpoint. His album sales prove that.

"Yeah!", "Confessions Part II" and "Caught Up" all got spins before they even released by the label, so it's not like they purposely did it.
Same with a lot of the Eminem songs except "Just Lose It"

Do you guys think Get Right's bullet will go back up? Its been losing and losing spins. It might hardly break the top 20 at this rate..LOL

It might hardly break the top 20 at this rate..LOL I'm thinking it might peak at #18 like WYWF did and fall very fast. It was probably just a single to create buzz and she'll probably release another one before she releases her album, besides the song gets very annoying after a while. I think Kelly can still make top 5 but only if Breakaway starts to fall fast. Its surprising to see the bullet for Lovers and Friends decrease so much, it'll probably peak around 7 or 8 since they don't have a video and probably won't. IMO Soldier will be the next #1.
