Man, I want Dissappear as the 3rd single, but we really can't start talking single #3 yet, even though the album is out a full year now

No worries, mate. She'll be right.
Meanwhile, "Breaking" is only at 24 and this is still at 16. I may cry.

What the fuck are they talking about? The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' "Face Down" broke "The Kill"'s record that same year and then "Paralyzer" went on to beat that back in 2008.

The 50+ week club:Trapt "Headstrong" (50) Crossfade "Cold" (50) 10 Years "Wasteland" (53) 30 Seconds to Mars "The Kill" (56) The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus "Face Down" (58) Finger Eleven "Paralyzer" (63*) The Airborne Toxic Event "Sometime Around Midnight" (50) Assuming "Sex on Fire" doesn't fall below #20 this weekend, it will be the song's 50th week on the chart. "Feel Good Drag" is sitting on 45 weeks; "Second Chance" is at 46. "I Don't Care" only lasted 41 weeks. *This is the official count and standing record. However, in the week "Paralyzer" was removed and turned into a recurrent, it actually still had 20 more spins than the #20 song that week. So Mediabase made a mistake and removed it prematurely. Unfortunately the song would've lasted 7 more weeks in the Top 20, racking up an infuriating 70 weeks on my personal records of the charts, which I adjust for mistakes such as these and also reinsert the purged, premature recurrent songs each week, in the interest of fairness.

I do recall seeing "The Kill" getting to its 53rd week before falling off the top 20 on BILLBOARD, so I'm wondering if those numbers are actually from the Modern Rock Chart.

well feel good drag is not on the charts on the oct 17 issue, which would have been its 53rd week. i do recall reading somewhere that billboard had a recurrent rule that if a song was outside of the top 10 after its 52nd week, it would be removed.

Could we finally be saying goodbye to this 61-weeker tomorrow?
18 20 ANBERLIN Feel Good Drag Universal Republic 785 812 -27 23 21 GREEN DAY East Jesus Nowhere Reprise 772 679 93
Pearl Jam is not too far behind them with a bigger spin loss, but the gap between them has actually gotten wider both of the last two days.

Great, another Mediabase error. It has 779 spins to Green Day's 771. Nevertheless, a sad goodbye to the song that both made and broke Anberlin's career.

^We don't know that just yet. A band has two opportunities to avoid one hit wonderdom -- the follow-up single to the hit, and the lead single off the following album. Plenty of bands have done the latter. Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Five For Fighting...you could argue Fuel's "Bittersweet" and "Jesus Or A Gun" didn't really break the tag of one hit wonder until "Hemorrhage" came along. Heck, Lifehouse took until their third album to avoid the one hit wonder tag. And Anberlin probably had a bigger cult following than any of these bands (except maybe Sugar Ray) before having their breakout hit.

Well "Breaking" tanked, so I guess it's up to the next album to break the curse.

There's a little bit of hyperbole in my statement, of course. You won't find a bigger Anberlin apologist on this board (except for maybe reid, lol).
I'm just worried that they'll become the next Red Jumpsuit Apparatus ("You Better Pray" was literally 1/16th the hit "Face Down" was).
"Breaking" has already played the same role that "False Pretense" played for RJA. And both this and "Face Down" were cleaned up for radio play (something I pointed out with no idea or expectation that "FGD" would even approach "FD"'s longevity on the chart, which it actually surpassed by a couple of weeks). And "Face Down" made the top 10 on CHR/Pop and top 20 on Hot AC, while "Feel Good Drag" didn't even get 10 spins in a week at either format.
But then again, Don't You Fake It was RJA's first album, while Anberlin had a top-20 album and a top-40 alt hit (from a previous album) to its name before this song was even released. So maybe things will be different. I hope so.

For what it's worth, "Breaking" also did quite a bit better than "False Pretense", plus there was also "Paper Thin Hymn" as you mentioned. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus really has no songs other than "Face Down" than did anything at all on any format.
Also, I don't think Pop and Hot AC success is as much of a player as you're suggesting it is. If anything, multi-format success tends to negatively impact a band's future on alternative, especially if the success comes with their debut single.

They could become the next Finger Eleven, too. A frightening proposition.

Finger Eleven had one big hit with their 2003 release and then another big hit with their 2007 release. I imagine they're working on a new album for 2010, so maybe they'll have another hit.
The prospect of Anberlin bouncing back with a cover that isn't even on the original release of the album has an irony that is rich like maple syrup.

Any word on AllAccess or Mediabase possibly removing the 20/20 rule in favor of a 20/15 rule? It might need it since songs like "Panic Switch", "The Feel Good Drag", and "Use Somebody" stall for weeks and weeks and weeks below the top 10, preventing many new songs (and, thus, new bands) from reaching respectable positions and gaining notoriety.
Also, as evidenced below, my year-end top 100 guessing game is available over in personal charts. If this qualifies as cheap promotion, then I do apologize, but I thought many posters in this forum would be interested since my chart comprises of, like, 99% "modern rock."
Now....back to your original programming...
