Sure there are. I'll name three. Finger Eleven. Trapt. 10 Years. Not the same genre, I'll grant, but the case is the same.

There are lots of songs that radio hasn't played that are good, and there are lots of bad terrible awful songs that radio has overplayed.

Yeah, actually "Still Frame" did do pretty well. But my point with 10 Years and Finger Eleven at least is that their follow-up singles, despite being really great songs, failed to hardly chart because their debut singles were still being overplayed by every radio station on the format. Finger Eleven's been lucky enough to have it happen twice. And they're not the only bands, just the first ones I could think of.
So my prediction is that as long as "Feel Good Drag" is still in the top 10, "Breaking" will probably barely get a chance to make any kind of run.

Well if the last week is any evidence "Feel Good Drag" is starting to plummet, and I imagine the stations that have been playing "Feel Good Drag" since fairly early on in its chart run will happily drop this in favor of "Breaking."

That's cause it didn't do anything.
"Through The Iris" was the second single, "Waking Up" was the third single.
And then "Beautiful", "So Long Goodbye", and now "Actions And Motives" for this album.

Yeah, "Through the Iris" only peaked at #34 or something awful like that. I remember it never got within 15 positions of "Wasteland" while it was on the chart.

There's nothing more irritating than a long-running #1 hit tumbling to #12 or so before starting to gain again at the expense of the next single. And it happens all the time.

Other than Kings of Leon though, most of the followup #1's occur for no other reason than who the band is to begin with.

I'm SO glad this went #1. I've been a huge fan since NTFP. Hope they have more success cause they deserve it. :)

Through The Iris remains 10 Years' best song by a wide margin. One of the most criminally underplayed rock songs of our decade.

Through The Iris remains 10 Years' best song by a wide margin. One of the most criminally underplayed rock songs of our decade. I completely disagree. While "Through The Iris" is a good song, I've found several of their songs to be superior. "Waking Up" for example should've done way more. "The Recipe" and "Half Life" could have also been good choices. And their new album has quite a few solid cuts.

Anberlin Feel Good DragProducer(s): Neal Avron Genre: ROCK Label/Catalog Number: Universal Republic May 09, 2009 ET Christa L. Titus Anberlin's "Feel Good Drag" has already triumphed by crowning Billboard's Modern Rock chart after a 29-week climb; now it's time to see if it can crash the mainstream party on the Billboard Hot 100. This sly diatribe about fooling around with a no-good lover while her man's away first appeared on the band's 2005 set "Never Take Friendship Personal" before resurfacing on its 2008 album, "New Surrender." The success of "Drag" in its latest incarnation shows that sometimes a song can get a deserved second chance to make a first impression. The new version pumps up an already powerful track into a full-on charge that's lead by guitarists Joseph Milligan and Christian McAlhaney. It's also been remixed, making it cleaner and brisker than the multilayered original and lending each measure a harder punch. With Anberlin being a band on the verge for the last few years, "Drag" could finally pull it into breakout territory.

Through The Iris is my #4 most played on my last.fm all-time singles list, just after "Stop & Stare", Fair To Midland's "Dance of The Manatee" and 3OH!3's "Don't Trust Me." 10 Years' "Wasteland" is a mere #23 on my overall top tracks chart.

Hopefully this enjoys crossover success as "Breaking" blows up on alternative :)

"Ricardo Muñoz Ramírez (born on February 29, 1960 in El Paso, Texas) is a Satanist and convicted American serial killer awaiting execution on California's death row at San Quentin State Prison. Prior to his capture, Ramírez was dubbed as the "Night Stalker" by the news media as he terrorized citizens of Los Angeles, California."

If that bullet isn't negative in triple figures when "Breaking" goes for adds, they're in trouble.

Well while we're discussing our predicting powers, my guess is that the lead single off their next album will make the top 10 at alternative. I'm calling it now.

Question: can you send a PM to Reid on the Anberlin board and look into the possibility of some reverse payola for this song? It's up to +34 now. /only half-kidding
