Yesterday on WLEW I heard "In My Dreams" by REO Speedwagon. How bizarre. I just heard this today on Classic Hits WHCN.

"In My Dreams" is something that AC KFMN Lihue has in its gold playlist. I hear it from time to time.

I heard "If I Knew Then What I Know Now" by Kenny Rogers & Gladys Knight on the way back from my lunch break today. That was a Top Ten AC hit in the spring of 1990. Truly a lost gem that deserves a little gold AC airplay.

How about "Go Wash An Elephant (If You Want To Do Something Big)" by Baby Gramps (Seattle area folk/blues man). Baby Gramps is a total trip! He performs regularly at the Northwest Folklife Festival in Seattle on Memorial Day weekend and at many other places in the Pac. NW. But he does have CDs out, and I actually heard his "Elephant" song on KBOO in Portland, OR. It's great!

On WEFM today, I heard "Both Sides Of The Story" by Phil Collins on the way home on my lunch break and "When I Looked At Him" by Expose on my way back. Sure, both songs were Top Ten Pop hits, but how many stations still play them today?

"Total Eclipse Of The Heart" by Bonnie Tyler this afternoon on Magic 94.9.... hardly an obscure song, of course, but the fact that they played the full-length version (almost seven minutes long) was refreshing. Only other time I ever heard that version on the radio was when it was featured as a Request & Dedication on Casey's Top 40 back in the '90s.

Does WEFM stream live on the Internet? I don't believe so. Here is their website.

On WGER's Big 80s weekend this morning, I heard something called "Mexican Radio" by an artist named Wall of Voodoo.

On WGER's Big 80s weekend this morning, I heard something called "Mexican Radio" by an artist named Wall of Voodoo. That one is probably only borderline obscure, especially since it was played during an '80s weekend. I've seen it on numerous CD compilations of new wave/alternative hits of the '80s, and I seem to remember it being used recently in a TV commercial for some product.

Last night I heard "Will You Be There (in the Morning)" by Heart on WLEW. I was surprised at how power-ballady it was.

On my trip to Chicago last week, I heard a station in Tennessee that played some fairly obscure songs. First, they played "Blowing Kisses In the Wind" by Paula Abdul, followed by "Extraordinary" by Better Than Ezra. After a stop set, they played "Living In Sin" by Bon Jovi.

Anytime I hear anything from Poe, I get excited.
She's not really obscure, but people seem to have forgotten her.
Most of what I listen to would be surprising to find on the radio, but I don't really listen to the radio anymore, so I might be missing out on random "obscure" spins. Oh well.

The 80s channel is now playing "I Know You're Out There Somewhere" by the Moody Blues. I heard this yesterday on WLEW. I'm surprised that it only got as high as #36. I would've thought a song like this could at least reach the 20s or teens (especially given that the similar-sounding "Your Wildest Dreams" hit #11).

You're right how similar IKYOTS sounds like "Your Wildest Dreams". Maybe if it would've come our before YWD, then maybe it could've been the bigger hit.

How's this for obscure? On Easter Sunday, I heard "Lies" by the Thompson Twins, followed by "Holiday Road" by Lindsey Buckingham! Both from 1983. Holiday Road only reached number 83!

On Q107 in Binghamton, I heard "Hook" by Blues Traveller, and I also heard "Barely Breathing" by Duncan Sheik on the same station. It's a mix station, so it's bound to air some obscure tunes.

I heard "Mystery" by the Manhattan Transfer on, what else, WEFM, this morning on the way to work. Before it was "Didn't Mean To Say Goodbye" by Deborah Gibson and Jordan Knight.
Now, we go on to page 11.
