breakaway took off really slow too ... it gained momentum when it's outside the top 10 on pop....
it blew up on hot AC and AC after became a big hit on pop .. this is when kelly domination on radio was started ...

Chantel's tracks on UMS ain't that bad. 'Slipped Away' & 'Fall To Pieces' are standouts on the album. But we won't be hearing any Chantel-Avril collabo anymore since both of them fell out.
Really? What happened? I never heard that before.
I'll admit that the songs Chantal co-wrote were, for the most part, on the lower end of the scale for Avril's albums. I think 5 of my 6 favourites are probably ones that Chantal didn't contribute to. With that said, Chantal has been in my Top 3 favourite artists since around 1999. She probably just works best when it's her own stuff. Keep in mind that Chantal has also co-written 'Hanging On' by Chayenne, 'Walk Away' by Kelly and that Canadian Idol song 'Meant To Fly', as well as the latest Rex Goudie single 'You Got To Me'. And she was the one that came up with the "na-na na na na nah..." part of 'Rich Girls' by Gwen. |

She co-wrote 'Together' and plays piano in the song. She also co-wrote on He Wasn't, How Does It Feel, Forgotten, Who Knows and Slipped Away. All of which I like but they aren't as good as Don't Tell Me, Fall To Pieces or Nobody's Home.
I wonder what the fallout could have been over? There was no mention about it on Chantal's board. |

Wow Chantal had all the best songs on her last cd. Damn, Together, How Does it Feel, Forgotten, Who Knows...she deserves awards just for being a part of those.

Why would her career have tanked after her first album without Butch Walker??? Just curious... She was heavily criticized on her first album by being entirely under the control of producers The Matrix to get the sound that the album delivered, and many music critics were of the opinion that without them, her second album would flop. That's all I needed to know... I really just don't pay any attention to critics... I think a lot of us here on Pulse know more about music than a lot of these critics do... Anyways, that's why your statement didn't make sense to me... now I get it. |

You know what the sounds like? Being a critic of music! Tell me how saying "One of those timeless songs from a timeless band..." in the ZZ-Top thread is anything other than providing a critical opinion. So anyway, why is being a poster on Pulse make you more knowledgeable than a large group of people whose professional job it is to look at music both subjectively and objectively? Talk about hypocritical nonsense... Fact is, The Matrix wrote, collaborated and produced every single track off of Avril Lavigne's debut album. When the two decided to part ways, the transition was seen as difficult because they had indeed done so much and Avril was so young (and without much of a history) of doing these things herself - hence the vast majority of critics' and fans' concerns. And I've shown the results of those concerns by citing the chart positions of her subsequent singles. Thanks for disregarding the bulk of my articulated, researched argument though and grasping at straws to further yours. |

Debuting as the challanger on our 9 o clock knock out vs the *7 in a half week champions (the most in its history)* Welcome To The Parade - MCR.

What the heck is up with Pop!? Stupid. This bullet should be swapped with "What Goes Around Comes Around." Oh well. Go HOT AC!! I've pretty much been boycotting Pop radio anyway. The only reason I listen to it is for a few songs like "Irreplaceable," but that's taking off on Hot AC anyway, so...see you later Pop. I'll come back when you put better music in high rotation.
Well, at least the chart will be getting a good #1 in a few days. That's the only positive thing happening at the moment.

Still the Champions tonight but hasn't made a daytime spin debut grr - even without one that's +12 spins for next weeks update from my staton but I expect more like 20 something when they start playing it outside the challange program so that should boost her bullet for next week :)
