I seriously hope that Kelly does what P!nk did/is doing during the I'm Not Dead era and release new songs as b-sides to her singles! That would be so cool! I wish more artists would do that.

Thanks for posting this in the My December thread in the music forum pyrates. From EW Popwatch blog: Britain's Daily Star reported that Sony BMG chief Clive Davis found Kelly Clarkson's new album so vile, she's now forced to scrap it. I guess you could have stopped reading after the first three words of this sentence to assume this is bogus, even though the American blogs are all aflutter. But her publicist assures EW it's "not true."popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2007/05/jayz_plane_cras.htmlAND HITS DAILY DOUBLERCA SUPPORTS KELLY: Despite rumor-mongering from the U.K. Daily Star and other online sources, there is no dispute between Kelly Clarkson and the RCA Music Group. These rumors began after the SBMG International meetings in Las Vegas a couple of weeks back and were based on an inaccurate report about Clive Davis' presentation of Kelly's new LP at the confab. Sources who were there insist the chatter is not true. In fact, Davis specifically stated that Kelly is “one of the top four artists at Sony BMG” and wanted to ensure that she is treated as such. There are absolutely no plans to scrap the LP. Meanwhile, Richard Palmese's promo team is working round the clock to deliver Kelly's first single, “Never Again,” to trigger the release of what all are convinced is a chart-topping album. (5/4p) www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiAND IDOLATORTrack Marks: How The "Kelly Clarkson's Album To Be Revamped" Rumor Became Today's Biggest Rumor In The WorldWelcome to another edition of Track Marks, in which your Idolators perform an autopsy on the latest band burning up the MP3-blogger charts. Today, however, we'll take a look at today's second-most blogged-about rumor: Artists: Kelly Clarkson Project: A complete revamp of her forthcoming album, My December. First mention: An April 30 post on the Velvet Rope claiming that label head Clive Davis savaged the first four songs on the album at a corporate conference, asking the crowd, "Remember, we're all family here and this project is worth hundreds of millions of dollars and does this sound like a Number One single to you?" The Build-Up: A piece running with Davis' displeasure and claiming that Clarkson was completely overhauling the album ran today in the UK newspaper The Daily Star, a Page 3 Girly tabloid that we had never heard of until it was cited in... The Dam-Break: ...a bunch of blogs that ran with the item, including In Case You Didn't Know, rickey.org, and the always-reliable TMZ. It doesn't look as if any of them tried to further the story, or even think about the fact that the album's first single, "Never Again," has already hit the Billboard 100 and TRL; we're not saying that it's completely unlikely for an on-the-verge-of-release album to be shelved, but it does seem pretty weird for the Kelly backlash to hit so hard at this particular moment. Is this the result of Kelly "crossing" Davis by wanting to strike out in a more rock direction? And why in the world would some British tabloid that doesn't even have a proper Web site be ground zero for a whispering campaign against her? idolator.com/tunes/track-marks/track-marks-how-the-kelly-clarksons-album-to-be-revamped-rumor-became-todays-b%20iggest-rumor-in-the-world-257892.php

Jeez that rumor spread everywhere...it probably had a lot to do with the single not shooting up to #1 but that's not always going to happen...people need to get real...
Anyway who is this?? Richard Palmese: Meanwhile, Richard Palmese's promo team...

Thanks focus for all the links confirming this rumor is just pure BS! All these people spouting this as gospel are gonna have some big slices of humble pie to eat if this album turns out to be the biggest hit of 2007! I'm gonna quote Girlfriend Fel from the Avril "girlfriend" thread on April 6, 2007 when Avril's bullet started dropping only Kelly's was like +400 spins a day if not more....

She's getting her goods handed too her by Daughtry with a song that's less poppy than hers. Not good.

according to R&R I wouldn't say she's getting her "goods" handed to her at all. Daughtry's been on the chart for 5 weeks v. her 2 weeks and he's +974 spins whereas she's +851 spins.... she moved up to 22 after debuting at 24.... she's also ranked 21 in audience to his 20.... www.radioandrecords.com/Formats/Charts/CHR_Top40_Chart.aspI think all this doom and gloom for NA is called putting the cart before the horse. I think it's too early to predict failure when this song is only in it's second week and it's holding right up there with songs that have been out for 4 and 5 weeks and should be pulling way out in front of her.

Daughtry's song gets played every week to 25 million people during the most emotional part of the show. Of course it's going straight to #1. Look what happened to "Bad Day" last year. It's not like AI didn't use the song just to guarantee it would go #1.

^^ thanks girlfriend fel!!
I think once she does her round of promotion next week we'll see some changes! Hopefully this song will pick up speed and start to move...however she has a lot of HUGE songs ahead of her so it might be a struggle to leap frog people like songs have done in the past. I'm just hoping this song has the same kind of longevity that her previous singles have had and can outlast those other songs so she can at least go top 10.

I think it'll climb up with more ease now that the top 20 isn't as congested.

I have to say that the music video was simply awesome. Who directed? It actually makes me like the song more now.

I think people were expecting this to go to #1 on hype alone. I don't know why it didn't... I love the song, and that's all I care about. Screw the wankers to who it's a flop. If it makes them sleep better at night, then they are the sad ones.

Joseph Khan (sp?) directed it...the same guy who did her BTHE video!!
yeah, I think there were VERY high expectations for this song....from fans and non fans alike. The fans, I feel, are more willing to amend their expectations and take a wait and see attitude whereas the nonfans want to jump on the "it's a flop" train right away even though clearly this song isn't flopping at all.

Far from it. Let them think what they want to think. I judge flops by quality not sales.

I wasn't a fan of the song really until the video. The video makes the song for me and now when I listen to it on my playlist or the radio, I see the video and I enjoy the song a bit more. Maybe it'll be that way for some people.

He also directed Walk Away, which a lot of people aren't that impressed with but it's my 3rd favorite behind NA and BTHE. I think I get why people are liking the song better after seeing the video. A lot of people thought the song was too loud and the pace of it was almost frenzied, but when you see the video you realize how angry she is, thus the loud singing, right in his ear, the loudness then makes more sense. I think that was what she was trying to get across in the song and that maybe the video was needed to convey that anger better. I hope that makes sense. Plus i think the sarcasm of the song comes through better when you watch the video.

^^ Focus, I agree with you. Especially about the sarcasm part. I think people were taking the song a little too seriously. When I get angry, I tend to get very sarcastic and bitter, and I think the sarcasm in the lyrics are easier to grasp once you see the video.

^^ I thought he directed WA but wasn't sure and I don't like it when people quote things as fact when they aren't sure so I felt safer just saying BTHE cuz that one I was 100% sure about LOL. I loved the WA video..it was very cute and just a funny take on the whole " you know you sing Kelly Clarkson songs too" idea.
I agree the video helped add a different element to the song! Kelly's attitude is great and it just shows where she's coming from the the whole scarcastic take on the "ignorance is bliss" and "repent yourself away" are just hysterically funny.

I think you are right, Focus! When you see the video, her atittude, you understand much more what she was trying to do, AND also you saw her with her own image, not that of a typical rocker or even pop/rocker ala Pink or Avril, she kept her fresh even sophisticated image (the white suit) but singing an angry song. Even I appreciated better her already perceived excess-rock orientation and effort, and got a better sense of what she is doing, keeping true to herself but having a rocker sound. So, my final conclusion about this song is that it is a step up in her career... despite, YES, it's not as catchy as her previous work, I think it reflects more maturity and risk of her part and then another sign of growth for her. I think it's not a flop and it won't flop, it will go Top5, maybe it will take some time (as ALL her previous singles, RIGHT?), but people will like it and enjoy it more.... I still remember people saying that Avril was going to do a DejaVu, and look at her ready for a new #1. Of course this song is not as fun or poppy as Avril's, but precisely, people were complaining of that hooky song, too!! weird... anyway, good luck to Kelly!!

Hopefully the video will help this. I don't love this like I did some of the Breakaway singles but I think this deserves top 10. I agree that her image has been perfectly preserved - she's a great top 40 singer who is a little bad@$$ with her recent single selection but remains sophistocated instead of annoyin ala Avirl.

I hate this song. Why does she think she is pop rock now? It's like she's playing dress up. The doctors already told her that her voice is shot. If she keeps screaming she is going to lose her voice for good. And that vid is meh.
