that Today show performance isn't going to be earning this song any new fans. i bet stay-at-home moms across the country changed the channel. RCA needs to take control here.

The song is very Alanis Morissette You Oughta Know...more for pissed off females but those Lilith Fair Days are long gone...Kelly seems to be taking it back to the 90's a la Alanis and Fiona Apple... As for RCA...they may push the next single more...which will probably be something like One Minute...

I think Kelly definitely fits well in that era...it was a great time for great music. I mean those albums from Fiona and Alanis are legendary...I have a feeling My December is going to follow that same league...

I thought she sounded great on the Today show singing NA. I am not all that fond of NA, but i dont think i have ever heard Kelly sound anything but great live.

With any luck this song will be bulletless by the end of the week.
It's Kelly's Deja Vu...if you will...

Well Deja Vu at least made Top 20 even though Kelly may not have the luck of even making the Top 20 it's her Deja Vu...Sometimes artists have them. It's not that good and people aren't really feeling it as much as some of her other hits.

It's Kelly's Deja Vu...if you will... i absolutely refuse to believe that this song will be bulletless by the end of the week. the exact same thing happened to carrie's song, but it rebounded right as everyone declared its run was over. i see the same thing happening with kelly. mark my words, kelly will rebound.

Just so you know about "You Oughta Know" by Alanis was actually not intended to be as vicious as it was perceived through media. Alanis explains it in this interview. I finally found it on Youtube. A lot of people have a misconception about its intentions: youtube.com/watch?v=L12VJO1ZO24&mode=related&search=That made me wonder if Kelly did the same thing. If you take out the guitars and the vicious beats lol, the lyrics are very sad and really emotional. just got me thinking.

^I believe so. I think that's how the whole "payola" rumor started about Kelly. The fact of the matter is people caught onto the song, it was miles harder and way more diffrent, it got off to a great start thanks to her previous singles (MI, Breakaway) but it took a while for radio and it's listners to warm up to the song.
This is like SUBG as far as the whole sounding miles diffrent and being more rock, but will it catch on with listners and radio? We'll see.

News about Kelly's album and upcoming performances (good!) on the Billboard site:
New Clarkson Album Arriving In Late July Kelly Clarkson May 08, 2007, 12:00 AM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. On the heels of gossip that Kelly Clarkson's third studio album, "My December," had been pushed back indefinitely, RCA has confirmed the set will arrive as planned July 24. First single "Never Again" debuted last week at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and in the top 5 on the Hot Digital Songs and Hot Digital Tracks tallies.
"My December" was produced by David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Sugar Ray) and, as previously reported, features bass work by indie veteran Mike Watt (the Minutemen, fIREHOSE). Tracks include "Haunting," "Chivas," "Be Still," "One Minute" and "Sober."
Clarkson will showcase the new material during a summer tour that begins July 11 in Portland, Ore., and will run through Sept. 26 in Los Angeles. She will also perform July 7 at the Live Earth benefit in East Rutherford, N.J. Before the tour, Clarkson will appear May 12 at Los Angeles radio station KISS FM's Wango Tango show in Irvine, Calif., and will perform May 15 with Reba McEntire at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.

don't feel too badly carriefan...it happens to me ALL THE TIME in Carrie's thread. It seems impossible for people to believe you can actually be a fan of another Idol winner, esp if you have something to say that's less than glowing about that artist.
I'm not ready to give up on this song at all! I think it still has life in it and it'll rebound just like Carriefan said!

**Loves Kelly, Carrie, Clay, Kim, Katharine, and doesnt give a damn what anyone thinks about it** :) I liked the Today show performances. except, Never Again was in a lower key, which i didn't care for, and during the bridge , in the lower notes, Kelly seemed to be struggling. Walk Away wasn't too different from the CD:USA performance and the HET version. I enjoyed that too. I don't really like when she performs in that kind of studio though, because we don't get to see how well she interacts with an actual audience. I think she does better when she has that audience there to thrive off of. Plus, she always looks so sad when the songs are done, and i feel sad because there arent applause right away! :(

Tonight Show performance was heaps better than the Today show performance. Still not completely sold on Never Again live though.
