I have to disagree with this logic. While I do think that SOME people would have been disappointed if Kelly 'played it safe' with an album that sounded a lot like her last one, I don't think it was a lose-lose situation. Sure, some people would have been disappointed, but you can't please everyone no matter what album you make. That goes for any artist. If she played it safe or released an album that was a LITTLE edgier I think she would have been successful. (And hey, the album isn't even out yet, so there is still hope for this era to be successful anyway.)

Also, you mentioned a bunch of other artists who've been on top and then come crashing down. It doesn't seem to me that that always happens. There have been stars who have had lots of success even after a smash era, such as Madonna, Bon Jovi, etc.

You are comparing the 80s to the 2000s? times have changed. Even 10 years ago that was true (look at Britneys back to back hit albums, or Nsync and BSB), but todays audience has a short attention span and they get sick of people fast. That's why artists no longer release albums every year. Now they wait 3 years between albums (unless you are Rihanna and Ne Yo who are catered to radio).

So far I really like Never Again and am in love with this clip of Haunted. CIHAK is, well, just there for me. It might end up being the track I always skip hahah I love the live version of Maybe and can see huge potential in Yeah. One Minute I like, but don't love based just on the live version.

As far as we know yep about Never Again..course I haven't checked the Express yet..but my eyes are killing me so I'll just see the news everywhere confirming it tomorrow, all good.

I'm kinda surprised Anymore didn't make the album, it was a great song...even though it wasn't single material. Perhaps her not being able to preform it Live repeatately on Addicted Tour made them decide it was too rough for even the CD.

Anymore kinda was vocal suicide so I'm not too disappointed. I prefer Never Again anyway so its all good..pretty sure the wussies at radio woulda thought it was too hard anyway I'm just hoping Idol isn't to wussy to even have her preform Never Again.

Since a lot of the Kelly fans expect NA to pick after her AI, performance, i was wondering----has this ever happened before. Like has a song ever gone from a -500 to a +500 and then flew up the charts? It's kind of cool that the KC fans are hoping from the impossible.

That would be just as illogical as George Bush saying that the execution of Sadaam Hussien will bring peace to Iraq. Obviously that did not happen.

i dont think AI performance will not help her pop airplay that much. it's -450 now .. too little too late ...
her digital sales will see some nice increase hopefully

Yep yep! Performances rarely affect airplay. They help with sales which is more important anyway.

Airplay is not more important than sales. If I were the record company I would rather have the sales than the airplay. That's the bottom line.

I think most of the talk of a turnaround was when the bullet was in the -150 to -200 area. Now, oh hells naw! You aren't talking about a song getting it's second wind, you'd be talking about a song in full code being brought back from the dead haha Which, IMO, ain't gonna happen.

I still want to see her sing NA though - That's s 25M audience (impression) right there man! With that one shot. It may be too early for it to affect her cd sales (but then again with amazon, is it ever too early, really), but it could spurn sales of the digital single which would get people listening to the song and in the end, could get them to buy the cd (especially if she has a second single out in the upcoming week or two that could help sway their decision).

A listener is a listener is a listener. Reaching 25M people with a song just can't be skewed bad IMO.

I wish they'd put My December up for pre-order on ITUNES today, before the show tonite - that way if people went searching for Never Again after idol tonight they would see the cd up and maybe pre-order it now while it's fresh in their minds.

ok everyone considered "maneater" a flop because it was, now it probably sold very well as a single and was a massive hit in the uk and europe. maneater was a flop and on radio it preformed the same as NA so therefore NA is a flop!!!
