I do find it hilarious that Simon Cowell is being quoted. That man changes his tune whatever way the wind blows. Gee just last year he was saying that Kelly was ungrateful to Idol. I remember in his book he did not say that AI was lucky to have had Kelly...in fact just the opposite. He wrote that she was a disposable Pop Star, who might not even be around in five years.

And didn't he tell Jennifer she wouldn't amount to much...and wasn't Fantasia the most talented ever. Simon says what he says because it benefits him. I do wonder why there is all this love, all of a sudden, between Kelly and AI.

It seems to me there is some tension between AI and RCA...and Kelly is being used as a pawn. First you have all the AI love for Kelly...then you have Clive not appearing on the Final Three Show...and then his little speech at the Finale (Simon did not look happy) I sure wouldn't take Simon's statements as gospel, as next week he might be dissing Kelly over some percieved slight....and then you'll hate him again.

I really hope that Kelly has more radio friendly songs on the album, cause Never Again is dead. Now I do think she will sell well, at first, because of people loving Breakaway....but I doubt it will continue. Breakaway sales were generated by radio hits, Kelly needs radio play.

The Promo list...I'll believe she is going to get all that Promo when it actually happens. It is VERY unusal for one person to get all those Covers....especially at once. I really hope she gets the RS Cover cause she really deserves it. I just hope they don't make her pose all trashy like they do the other female Pop Stars that have appeared on the Cover.

While I don't think an album cover will totally turn people off that want to buy or like the music, to assume it has no affect on people is showing a lack of business understanding. The importance of an album cover greatly diminishes with an artist's popularity and talent. I definitely agree that while an album cover may create a second look at a music store and likely has some miniscule contribution to it's sales, the days of record store sales are numbered with the takeover of internet digital song and album sales. For this dominant and ever-growing market, I would surmise that the album cover has even less miniscule impact on record sales.
Second, certain artists rely on heavily on their image for their sales, rather than the substance- music, talent, lyrics, etc. We can visualize several that do so, but simply and obviously, Kelly is not and likely will not ever be one of them. She won a talent competition for her voice and generated a boatload of sales from her first album because of expectation and her name. With the second album, she sold 12+ millions copies and earned worldwide superstar status not because of her image (her hair, her clothing, her boyfriends, paprazzi photos, etc) but rather because of her different sound, huge voice, and commanding stage presence. She is now riding off the much preferable coattails of artistry rather than image, which I why I believe that the discussion about album cover for 'My December' - is silly and ridiculous because she sells based on her very famous name, musical/vocal content, and artistry, NOT image- this is something Kelly aims for.

Gotta agree, I don't think a lousy Album Cover influences anyone not to buy the Album...I mean Breakaway's Cover was horrible...yet it sold millions.

Good thing that her name is on the album...cause no one would know that was Kelly by the picture.

She likely doesn't care as much about the image as her management, I would think, does after all her managment is paid to promote her and image is important to various degrees depending on artist.
To answer your question, if a promo picture is going to be placed for advertisement and if the decision had to be made between a more eye-pleasing vs. less eye-pleasing picture, I wonder which one Kelly herself and/or her management would choose ? Why not pick the better picture if it will add some miniscule amount to sales (it doesn't cost more) and because if she/they feel she looks better in the picture (photoshopped or not), what human being would not pick the better picture ? I feel as if I am master of the obvious tonight....

Agreed. There have been several attempts to restore order to this thread, but while it does help for a few moments, very soon it always goes back to this catfighting.

I think what goes on in this thread is a true test to Kelly's charisma and personal magnetism. Even the people who don't like her are drawn to her. She's so interesting that everyone wants to follow her every move. I know that the atists I don't like don't interest me enough for me to bother reading up on. Something about Kelly draws in both fans and haters alike. That quality can't be bought or sold, and it's going to help Kelly out a great deal throughout her long career.

pyrates - yeah, it went negative on Hot A/C a couple days ago. It's falling reeeeeeeeallly slow though. The first day it was like -3 then -11 and now -16.

This is song is just about ready for the fork (although with Hot A/C it could back around and get it's bullet back - but I'm actually kinda hoping it doesn't, I'm ready for the second single heh)

Definately disagree. What people like about Kelly is her Music...well her Music up untill Never Again. If she was that charismatic she would get couch time on Leno..ect.

I don't love Kelly....I loved her album though. I do find the machinations of RCA interesting though. But as a person I think she's rather shallow and not very bright.

That would be like someone saying their in debt because they owe $7,000 and then the next month they go around saying they are no longer in debt because they payed $200 off and now only owe $6,800. It doesn't work like that.

I'm not getting offended buddy. Just don't want you to get your hopes up. I personally think they should just let this song go and rush release the 2nd single. I don't know why the record label, or her are still depending on it. Even if it stabilizes for a little. Having around 2500 spins for a couple weeks is NOT good enough promotion for the album. There needs to be something else.

And as for the whole in debt thing. Paying it off that slowly will increase interest rates, which will even put a bigger hole for you. But lol...that's off topic.
