I just saw the video and is BEAUTIFUL! Her best to date. I loved her performance. The idea was very well developed, the colors, different sets, change of pace, and her acting were GREAT. Way to go, Katy!
The song itself is a grower. Her vocals are different here, but especially the start of the verses where her talking/whispering seem like a constipated Alanis. Besides those lines, I like her vocals on the other parts of the song.
It shows versatility on Katy and I'm confident this will be another Pop Hit for her. Bound to Top10 :)

This argument is lame. Comparing Katy Perry to the Backstreet Boys, who have a decade of experience behind them, most of it before the digital/single age, isn't exactly a rational comparison.
You're entitled to think TOY has the most unlistenable vocals ever. I think it's a little overdramatic and silly, but whatever.

I was going to comment on your initial post, like saying why you were actually very wrong. :)
But then I saw your avatar and that means my points of view are totally different from yours as we can easily understand from your previous posts so I thought about not posting it at all since it wouldn't change anything.
In my opinion, favorite artists in 95% of the cases (mostly on music message boards) reflect on that user's likes and ideas. And I'm just pointing out an opinion, like you did.
And quantity doesn't equal quality. ;)

So I just don't like that you assume things about my general musical inclinations based on the picture in my avatar.
Besides, I really like Katy Perry. H&C and IKAG are great. And while I also like this song, I find her vocals on it to be absolutely unbearable to the point that I can't even listen to the song. I was just pointing out that this is the first time that the vocals on a song were so bad that I couldn't listen to it. That's all I was saying.

That's the great thing about music in general. Some people can down right think a song is garbage, while others think it is the best they ever heard. Music is so subjective and that's what makes it great. As for the song, I love it! I like her vocals and I think this will do just fine!

Give it a second listen, muting the verses and maybe you can change your mind a little bit ;) |

It's her inflections and her diction, some may not have a problem with it I actually think it adds color, personality and character to her performance however any one who dislikes her voice on this track needs NOT to buy the album because she sounds similar in Waking Up In Vegas and One Of The Boys although it is to a lesser extent her voice is the same exact way it is on this track. |
