Isn't this also her first video to miss #1 on the CMT Top 20 Countdown? Makes sense as it isn't a real video, but in terms of stats for the show it doesn't matter.
Going back to "BHC," Carrie has six #1s in a row on Billboard (in terms of official singles). I can't find where any other female artist has done that. Am I wrong? I might have missed a discussion about that. Dolly Parton had 5 in a row twice (1973-1975 and 1977-1979) but never 6. Crystal Gayle also had 5 in a row (from 1982-1983). I don't think anyone else has had 5, and I think Carrie is the only one with 6.

Rosanne Cash is the other female artist to post 6 country #1's in a row (along with Carrie) -- as long as you don't count a song she sang with her dad and the Everly Brothers that wasn't on her record label.

I should acknowledge that I was wrong in thinking ITYS would breeze to a Billboard #1. I made fun of y'all and now it turns out that you did have something to worry about. I can now go back into my hiding place.... I guess I should second this, although I'll post this quote from Jonsolo: Unless Arista pulls off the world's most inept effort at promoting this week, it's a cinch for next week. Carrie didn't need a huge gain this week to get to #1 on Billboard (800k-1m would have been more than enough), but her gain so far is only about 100k. With that being said, I do think she still has a good chance to be #1 on Billboard. Sugarland's #1 on the Real Time Tracker right now, but when I started writing this post Carrie was on top. Should be close.

I was thinking she only needed to gain 500 or 600k to clinch the #1 spot. A mill would have been icing on the cake, but they couldn't make a few phone calls while they were baking, I guess.
Whether or not she gets to #1, though, I was way off in my don't-worry be-happy advice. I didn't think it would even be close.
And while I can see her winning -- maybe the phone calls can only be made over the weekend, because that's when the free cell minutes can be used? -- it can't be good that Sugarland is spending time at #1 on Friday. What's going to improve matters tomorrow and Sunday?
I'll say Sugarland wins by 375k to 450k on Billboard. Later tonight I should be able to post the audience results through Thursday -- presumably Carrie was ahead at that point, perhaps by 200k or so.

I'll be dissappointed if this doesn't get to number one, but it's not the end of the world. Many artists dream of the kind of success that Carrie has had. Although it would be cool for Randy to go to the top twice with the same song.

It is odd that the most "country" song Carrie ever released to radio, is the one song that might not make it to number 1.
That says alot about the sad state of country radio right now.

The fact that two heritage and major-market country powerhouses (KSON & KEEY) ignored this scintillating song in favor of'TMBIM' shows just how dysfunctionally country radio has been programmed in recent years; 'NRR' (No Risk Radio) is alive and well, but this is idiotic.
KSON remains the only one of Mediabase's 126 reporters not playing this song, and is certainly the number one reason why Carrie isn't comfortably on top.

Sugarland had an audience lead on Billboard through Thursday, but it was very close. 20.5 mill for Sugar, 20.4 for Carrie.

What's going to improve matters tomorrow and Sunday? Carrie was in Africa for charity. She just got back. I guess that's why the calls had to be made earlier. She was doing 2 weeks of actual interviews and even playing DJ at some staions.

Although it would be cool for Randy to go to the top twice with the same song. Not only is ITYS a great song and should be another number one for Carrie as well as Randy, the PR that country radio would get is pretty good. I mean, come on programmers, it's a win win. The fact that some radio stations are literally not playing this song and instead are playing TMBIM is really ridiculous. ITYS would be comfortably ahead right now on it's way to the top. I mean, at least alternate between the two songs. jmo

Well it is still very close. It could go either way.
Apparently, Randy Travis is doing an interview tonight on some syndicated show, so maybe that will be an extra spin of ITYS, which could help us.

It just seems odd to me that a star of Carrie's stature should have to call stations and do interviews to get a song to number one, especially this song. Sure, It Happens is a good song and Sugarland is on fire right now but this is a GREAT song. They both should be #1's at some point either way. I could see Eric Church, Gloriana, Kelli Pickler, etc. working their butfs off to get a song moving but this just seems odd to me.

The 2 songs are still flip-flopping at #1 on the Tracker so who knows... ITYS might still have a chance. It's #1 right now, after numerous hours of "It Happens" being at #1.

A MB number one is good, but a Billboard number one eliminates the controversy. Still, it's all good.

However Billboard only credits Carrie with 5 #1s in a row. They order the singles by the date they first charted as opposed to when they peaked. BHC was starting to get some unsolicated airplay before DFTRM was announced as the next single. As a result, BHC first charted on the Hot Country Songs chart a week before DFTRM did. So Billboard puts the single order as JTTW, BHC, DFTRM, Wasted, SS, AAG, LN, JAD and ITYS. So if ITYS does not make #1 on Billboard this week, Billboard will put Carrie's longest #1 streak at 5.

^ hardly matters. Country radio can play as much Rodney Atkins as it likes, he still wont touch Taylor and Carrie in international sales and concert tickets. Taylor is on a sold out tour of the UK and Australia. When Rodney Atkins gonna do it?

Well recently Taylor and now Carrie both reached #1 on mediabase but not on billboard/R&R......it makes me wonder if the mediabase chart is starting to matter a little bit more.

Mediabase charts are used as the source on the following radio countdown shows: American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest, American Top 20 (and Top 10) with Casey Kasem, The Foxworthy Countdown (hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy), Crook & Chase Country Countdown, Ben and Brian's Big Top 20 Countdown, Live In The Den with Big Tigger, Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40, and Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton. Looks like the only major country countdown using Billboard is the Kix Brooks Top 40 show.

Of all the songs that should have flown up to number 1 without all this drama, ITYS was that song. Hmmmm....

It appears that Sugarland has been consistently #1 on the Real Time Tracker recently, so Carrie's #1 chances for the week don't look too good right now.
One thing that I don't think has been brought up is the possibility of Carrie getting to #1 after Sugarland (if Sugarland does get to #1 this week). "I Told You So" and "It Happens" will be close in audience this week, and the next #1 contender (Brad) should be about 3.5 million behind them. Usually labels don't seem to care about getting to #1 on Billboard after getting a #1 on Country Aircheck, but Jason Aldean just did it, so who knows?
