This the only places to look it up are in the Billboard country chart archives or Joel Whitburn's books or Jonsolo's memory (if available). For those of us who consider Billboard's country chart the only historical record, we can say so. For people who want to count MB/Aircheck, or Billboard non-country, or what their cousin Irene has tabulated on her blog, they can explain what they're looking at, using words. Once again, another great post Zazie!!! I find Jonsolo's memory to be the most reliable source...hahaha. Rob -- like Zazie said, it's not about hypocrisy. Everybody has a different opinion, and we could argue all day about which chart is more valid -- so lets not even go there. These are the facts -- the official numbers that nobody can argue with: Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart: (9) #1 singles
Billboard/R&R country chart: (7) #1 singles and (2) #2 singles Whichever chart floats your boat, then so be it...but obviously the record label and many fans for any artist will be inclined to use the higher numbers, regardless of the chart. I agree with both of you I just wish people would use the same criteria for everyone not switch back and forth and use just what benefits their artists or label at the time. That is what i meant by hyprocipsy. What good for the goose is good for the gander. I have always looked at Billboard as the "Bible" of Radio Play. So even though I am aReba fan for 20years i do wish the MCA put out did reflect the truth. like i said what is good for the goose is goiod for the gander so in the end I say TYS is a #2 song not #1 Actually, joey it is more than Billboard/R&R concerning the #1's Cd because before the R&R Chart changed it was there as well that some songs were #1 and not on Billboard

It usually does...but we all know how accurate wikipedia can be!!! The country music articles usually SUCK SUCK SUCK (hint hint), but all of them at least have accurate discographies. Carrie Underwood's discography is a featured list, so it's certainly accurate.

Why has "ITYS" taken such a big hit at radio this past week? It has dropped over 1000 spins in the past week! It's not like she has another single pulling spins from the song.

Does it really matter anyway? I mean, look at the loops that UMG jumped through (on more than one occasion) to get George to 50 #1 hits and Reba to 33 #1 hits. For God's sake, they counted CMT countdowns!! Ok, well maybe not, but they used every chart in the book to find a #1 for these artists. Personally, I swear by the Billboard Bible. And by that, I mean, if the song hit #1 on Billboard, it was a #1. But there's more to it than that. ? ... ...... There are plenty of ways to count #1 hits, but the matter of the fact is, when all is said and done, it's who's doing the counting that matters. I totally agree to the last statement! I find it amusing that so many debate the standing of ITYS because it was #1 on MB and not Billboard. It was a good song no matter what. And for the matter of charts....if Billboard is the most important to some on here, then all I can say ...ITYS actually did reach #1 on Billboard(Canadian R&R (Billboard) charts). ;) lol

If Billboard is so important why do all the major radio countdown shows (except Kix Brooks) use mediabase charts?

If Billboard is so important why do all the major radio countdown shows (except Kix Brooks) use mediabase charts? Maybe because Clear Channel owns Mediabase (it has since 1991, per this press release)? From the press release:So any countdown brought to you by Premiere Radio Networks likely uses Mediabase.

Hey, is this just me or is the song falling like, really fast? I mentioned that a few posts above. It makes me think it was about to fall a few weeks ago and the interviews sort of sustained it. Now that those are over, the song is just free-falling. It is odd since no new single is taking spins away from it.

I remember that Bob Kingsley, when he left ACC, tried to get access to the BB charts but couldn't do it.

Bob Kingsley still spins a year-end countdown which is different than the other radio countdown shows -- but I'm not quite sure where he gets it from.

This would be so easy if people just used adjectives. I have checked the Pulse rules and adjectives are not banned. For example: Carrie Underwood has had 7 songs reach #1 on the Billboard country chart. I put the clarifying adjectives in bold. You can't argue with that; it's verifiable fact. Either she's had 6, or 7, or 8, and you can look it up; but the only places to look it up are in the Billboard country chart archives or Joel Whitburn's books or Jonsolo's memory (if available). Allmusic.com is a very good source too. Just enter an artist's name and then click on Charts & Awards. I'm not sure how often they update the Charts & Awards (perhaps once a month?) because they only have I Told You So at a peak of #4 as of this writing. Overall, though, it gives a complete history of an artist on all the Billboard charts. Emphasis on COMPLETE :). www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&searchlink=CARRIE|UNDERWOOD&sql=11:3ifqxqwsldke~T51

I haven't heard any plans for a new single yet...

Yeah, I've seen this happen before...some combination of traffic, views and happenstance. I'm just going to lock this rather than risk a thread implosion where we lose posts.
