I guess, in the way that Hannah Montana is closer to Breakaway than My December. If you think this is about me not liking commercial music, you don't know me very well. I like fresh music, whether it be catchy and radio-friendly or not. This is stale as the bread in the back of my kitchen cabinet. What's your definition of fresh? lol

Something that is neither musically nor lyrically cliche. This is both.

I love this, too- I can't believe it, I keep going back to hear it over and over again and it's not forced, it's because I really like it. I think people may say it sounds like SUBG because of the way the guitar is strummed in the verse music, they are both alike- that might have been done on purpose though- anyway, it's really fantastic- thrilled for Kelly.

Yeah but the definition of cliche is a phrase/expression/idea that has been overused to the point of loosing its intended force/novelty. I can't think of too many songs that feature new inventive themes/lyrics or productions.

Dang it Khrazy, ever since you mentioned the whole Clive thing now that's all I am thinking about while listening to this song. lol

I feel like you're stretching a little bit, or at least making it too black and white. You're perfectly right, most concepts even in independent music these days aren't original. But in most cases you can make a song unique while using the same general theme as a thousand others. Otherwise nobody would listen to music. I don't think I'm crazy to think there is some fresh pop music and some cliche pop music. If you think this falls into the former category, I disagree, but I guess there's not much I can do except point out all the technical elements that are so similar to other Dr. Luke productions and some of the really unthoughtful lyrics.

I don't know. Speaking as a performer myself, if I had been through that mess, I might have just been like whatever, I'll do it as long as I get to work with Aranda and Ryan Tedder. But ok, maybe I'm just putting my personal issues on someone else's situation.

Damn, Krhazy... you have probably said 1,000 times (in both threads) that you don't like Kelly's single .. WE GET IT, can you move on?

That's rich.
It's been less than 24 hours, and I'm finding new things I don't like about it every time I listen to it. This is a discussion thread about the single, right? Am I in the wrong place?
Jeez.

But ok, maybe I'm just putting my personal issues on someone else's situation. You said it. Let me put it to you this way (if you're really a performer, then you should get the point): I love Broadway musicals. Lately I've been falling in love all over again with the music from 'Phantom of the Opera,' with its heartwrenching lyrics and haunting melodies. But I sure wouldn't want all musical theater to be dark, deep and heavy like Phantom. There has to be a place for lighter, breezier musicals like, say, 'Grease.' 'Grease is the word, is the word, is the word...' It's no different in pop music. Sometimes people just want pure fun entertainment, nothing more.

Jeez. Well, to be accurate, this particular one is a discussion thread about the album. The single thread is on the CHR/Pop board.

Jeez. I don't know, maybe I'm just different... when I don't care for a song or anything in particular, I don't keep repeating myself over and over. When I really don't like something, I don't give it much time or energy after awhile... I like spending my time on things I enjoy :)

Right. I'm not in the Duffy thread babbling ad nauseum about how she's a stale, neutered version of Amy Winehouse. I really couldn't care less.

You are cracking me up. But now I'm just being rude because of our personal experience elsewhere, and that is inappropriate. I apologize. I'll try to keep my negativity to a minimum, but if I find a new odd rhyme or weird production element I'm going to post about it. It's not like I've been posting the same thing over and over again. For the past page i've merely been defending my opinion against other opinions. Surely you aren't going to deny that you do that, are you?

Why do the people who don't like it have to keep posting over and over about it? Can't you just state your opinion and move on. You're not going to get people who like it to suddenly agree with you, so it's pointless. It just fills up the thread with whining.

The single rocks, the album will rock, Kelly is back that's the fact. Let's ignore the annoying child looking for attention. If you don't give them attention, they go elsewhere.
