Surprise there's not a thread for this already. *Waits for someone to bump an older one* When it leaked in the fall of 2005, I liked it a lot, but I didn't imagine it would become a monster planetary smash six months later. Boy, was I wrong! :o With repeated exposure through radio and TV, I'd grown to love it. Then, overkill made me hate it because it was inescapable. Now I like it, but way, way less than what I originally did. I was in Europe in the summer the year this came out. This, Hips Don't Lie and Maneater were like the only songs I heard for 6 weeks lol. Great song.

It's a stone cold classic. And I heard it late 2005, too. Stopped in my tracks, etc. THOUGHT: THIS ONE'S A KEEPER.

My supervisor during my national service time (involuntary) had this song as ring tone. Hilarious!

It's obviously a classic, but I wasn't sold on it when I first heard it at all. In fact, I only started to love it once it was overplayed. They've had better songs.

It took a while for me to grow into this. It's OK.

I loved this right away. There needs to be more interesting and different music like this on pop radio.

This song is hall-of-fame caliber, but I wish radio could have mellowed out on it a little, which would have saved a little love for their next album's hits that were almost as good.
It did hit pretty much every single chart except Country, though, which is cool. I'm sure some country artist had to have tried covering this. Everyone else did; I watched six different bands at Lollapalooza '06 perform this song, including Gnarls Barkley themselves, although the song was in its prime then.

Surprised to not see a thread made for this gem
I consider this to be one of the best songs to come out of the 2000's, it sounds so timeless..... Adele would sound KILLER if she switched her predictable sound into something more along the lines of this....
Anyway, have always had a soft spot for this song and always will... :)

A gem indeed. I've always really loved this one and still listen to it occasionally.

I knew it would be a classic as soon as I heard it. It was the first song they did on The Voice premier back in 2011 and Cee-Lo did it again for the finale last season.

Love this. I heard it for the first time right around The Voice, too. Too bad about all the personal drama, because Cee-Lo has a great voice.

This takes me back to the summer of ‘06 in such a big way. Love it.

Used to consider this overrated as well, but it clicked for me within the past year.

Classic. The production is obviously cool and unique, but I think the lyrics are great too. There aren't enough songs about what it's like to be trapped in your own mind.
