A lot of artists who should have been considered for Best New Artist were either not nominated, not eligible or not submitted. Either way, I cannot really see MGMT, The Ting Tings or Silversun Pickups with the title "Best New Artist of 2009." That's no disrespect to them, but they didn't stand out this year. That's why it think it's between Keri and ZBB. I want to go with ZBB, but something is telling me that Keri's past work as a songwriter may give her a solid chance at a win. Either way, this is a disappointing lineup.

Best New Artist is always an "Uphappy" category. people ALWAYS have something negative to say about it. But, it happens. Move on. The winner is Keri or ZBB.

I finally saw a commercial for it today. Only four weeks from today until Grammy night.!
I wonder what they'll open the show with... And does anyone know when the next(or the rest) of the performers are to be announced.? Should be real soon, right? How many performance slots do they usually have.? I know its alot but forgot how many.

Does anyone think Tedder not having a Grammy yet will be a contributing factor to Halos Grammy success? He's pumped out some major hits and has yet to recieve musics biggest award...I think coupling him with Grammy darling Beyonce could be the last little push he needs to be attached to a winning song...

wasn't Rihanna supposed to perform last year? Until you-know-what happened...
I don't Keri will win BNA. She had one major hit and faded away for most of the year. I think it's a lock for ZBB, their album sales have been surprisingly consistent and they are the most fresh in voters minds.

MGMT and The Tings Tings have originality? No. LOL I think some of you will be unhappy come Grammy night. And I'm not even rooting for Keri Hilson like that. If she doesn't win, then ZBB will prevail. And even in some other categories, there will be a few upsets. Agree to disagree. Keri offers nothing special. She's here today, gone tomorrow. Unless she finds her next batch of mega watt collaborators like Wayne, West and Ne-yo she'll continue struggling to sell gold even. The Ting Tings and MGMT however have their cult followings without fitting safely inside top 40 playlists and never pretending to try to do so. They are far more original than Keri.

^ yes both rihanna and Chris Brown were scheduled to perform last year. Justin timberlake was only supposed to perform once, Dead and Gone. He and Al Green threw that number together at the last minute to cover Rihanna's slot.

Well you can't really predict that she'll be gone tomorrow. Right now, she's here and nominated for BNA....... much more then a lot of others are doing. Maybe she's just one of these artists that takes longer to get started. I've seen it time and time again, people struggle at the beginning and then explode, like Taylor Swift, I wouldn't really say she was struggling at the beginning but her debut took forever to take out and is now quad platinum and still on the charts. Then you have people who start off like fire and the fizzle out. Give her a few albums before you count her gone.

Hey, hey! I am not saying that Keri Hilson is original in any way, shape or form. She's not. "Originality" has never been the point of this category. Before John Legend, we had Alicia and before that, we had Stevie. Before we had Carrie, we had Shania. Before Adele, we had Amy. I think you get the point. I'm not sure what the voters look for, but it's definitely originality. "Originality" is such a loose term. How many artists these days are "original." Mostly everything that is done today has been done time and time before that. That shouldn't be the deciding factor in who wins Best New Artist because to be honest, none of these artists are truly "original." We can't really predict the future. None of these artists may be around years from now. Who's to say? It's a gray era. And so many Best New Artist winners have gone away after their wins. It's pretty common. Remember that before Keri became a recording artist, she was a writer for several artists for years. If her career doesn't work, then she always has writing to fall back on, and that's why I wouldn't be surprised if she won. She may have some industry respect we don't know about. But I guess we'll see January 31st...

I think whoever wins will still be big. Keri may become someone like Trina. Be fresh in the minds of EVERYONE one day and then the next day, not so much. But if you ask anyone that likes Rap music, they will know who Trina is. thats my prediction of Keri.

Wow Keri and Trina... lol That's an odd comparison. Let's compare Keri to other R&B artists.

Obviously Lady Gaga will be performing. She's nominated in several General Field categories and she's had a HUGE year.

But if you ask anyone that likes Rap music, they will know who Trina is. thats my prediction of Keri. I don't think Trina has ever reached the level of fame and success like Keri has. Trina had some decent sized R&B/Urban hits, but she hasn't really ever crossed over to the pop market. The only time Trina has ever appeared on the CHR chart (I believe...someone correct me if I am wrong) is "Here We Go", and we all know that the reason behind that is because Kelly Rowland did the chorus, and other parts of the song. Plus, it only peaked at #21. Keri has #25 song with Lil' Wayne and #3 with Ne-Yo/Kanye. Now sure, Keri had guests help her out, but as people have said, she is a great song writer, and she has been around for years. She is more well known than Trina ever was or ever will be.

8 chances out of 13 to win = 8/13 X 100 = 61% 5 out of 11 chances to win = 5/11 x 100 = 45% 1 out of 8 chances to win = 1/8 X 100 = 12.5% 1 out of 10 chances to win = 1/10 x100 = 10%
Basically this gambling site is giving Beyonce the highest chance to win

Do they really have Dave Matthews Band with the lowest chances of winning AOTY? Have they ever truly followed the Grammys to come up with that? I hope they are betting Jolly Ranchers or some sh!t....

I never get how odd work lol It means they predict Beyonce to win Album, and that Dave Matthews Band has the worst chance, according to them. So I am going to place a bet for Dave to win, as the odds are so big that you will win big money if he wins. :)

Personally, I think Beyonce has a much better chance at winning ROTY than AOTY. It's just interesting that their rankings for AOTY and ROTY intersect with the # of nominations each artist has. If they are basing it on that, they will be highly upset come Grammy night. Hopefully, they have better reasonings for their rankings. We'll see, though.

I agree that she's a biggest threat for ROTY and SOTY than AOTY. That was the surprise nomination for me.
