Here we go again with people having this idea that their vision for Adam's career is what all fans want for him, and that everyone's standards for how a pop star should behave are the same. Yet even as you read this thread, you get all different opinions from fans and the media about Adam being too risqué or not edgy enough, depending on what he does or doesn't do. "Whataya Want From Me" is really the perfect song title to describe his career. I guess you can argue that if he'd never said anything too "controversial" and acted like a good boy and been a proper role model to the children, that he'd have been double platinum by now. And I can say that the fans who like that he's outrageous and like wondering what he'll do next or how he'll show up looking this time, wouldn't have given the time of day to an Adam who never crossed the line, but it's nothing anyone can prove either way. The Adam fans grabbing on at the Kradison concert aren't even original--they probably just heard about the Kris Allen fans who grabbed him during a concert earlier in the week and decided they weren't going to be outdone (and who knows, maybe Adam hearing about what his good friend had endured gave him ideas). In that video, definitely in the first half, around the :20 mark, people are grabbing at his waist, and there were reports (Twitter again) of fans going even lower. You can see him back away at times, but he also keeps singing and repeatedly going back to let the crowd touch him again. It doesn't exactly look like being handled that way made him fall over with the vapors or immediately stop to lecture everyone on proper decorum. So do we have an epidemic of stars from Idol acting "sleazy" and condoning the "slob" behavior of their fans? Don't tell me Danny Gokey is next! :)

Praepos.... let me see if I can sum up your position as stated in your last three posts- based on your analogies Adam fans haven't got a clue, are not normal and possibly they fart, are slobs, smoke, and do drugs. LMAO Please tell us how you really feel... but how about discussing his music not insulting his fans. What I wrote was pretty logical: if Adam is acting like a slob on stage while his fans are grabbing his crotch, and while other fans are hooting their approval, how can you not conclude that his fans are acting like slobs as well? Wow. All I can say is please check yourself. You are being innapropriate and insulting people who you have never met before in your life. Now please excuse me while I go take a big dump on my living room floor In more important news...I'M SEEING ADAM IN CONCERT TOMORROW!

Nobody said my vision for Adam should be what all fans want for him. But I do say that certain standards for public figures should apply. It's not just a matter of being a role model for children, it's a matter of upholding minimum standards of public decency which the community at large doesn't want dismantled. It's true fans consider Adam's defiance of these standards pretty innocuous. But in fact his excessive vulgarity is pretty aggressive and he should expect to pay a price for this. This is especially true given the AMA fiasco when he was given the chance-of-a-lifetime and blew it. It's reasonable to suppose his stock was seriously diminished at that point. As to how many cds went unsold because of this, nobody can know. True, his album just went gold. But for somebody like Adam with an outsized ego backed by unprecedented hype, I have a feeling expectations had been set much higher.

I'm hearing rumors a tour starting in summer with Adam as the headliner. And possibly other singers and dancers appearing with him. No idea of how big the venues will be.
Adam is more of a loose cannon that I ever would have expected given his theatre background. He doesn't have a good grasp of appropriate behavior and I think that has hurt him. People like Madonna always knew just how far to push it. But Adam always goes too far.

Here's an acoustic version of Whataya want from me from the I heart radio concert. I love this performance, he sounds incredible.

Oh interesting... he uses his head voice on the high notes when he sings softer. Wonder if that was a choice or a necessity?

www.tmz.com/2010/02/16/adam-lambert-rips-fan-get-off-the-damn-phone/Adam Lambert Rips Fan - Get Off the Damn PhonePosted Feb 16th 2010 by TMZ Staff Adam Lambert put one of his own fans on blast yesterday -- in the middle of a live performance -- after the rude fan was caught yapping away on her phone while the "American Idol" alum was trying to sing. It all went down while Adam was performing a song for iheartradio in New York when Adam heard the girl talking, stopped mid-song and said, "Can you get off your phone?! You're yelling into it ... wait, sorry, we're going to start over." Lambert then continued to go after the fan saying, "Really?! Dominoes ... we deliver!" He continued, "You're not watching TV honey ... it's a live show." Can ya hear me now?

Adam Lambert Jamie Tabberer settles down for a chat with American Idol’s Adam Lambert. They were both in their PJ’s, dontcha know. When nattering with a bona fide American idol like Adam Lambert, a West Country twang like mine can be problematic. “How is my British accent working out for you Adam?” I ask the 27-year-old pop star, in my best attempt at Queen’s English. “Does it remind you of Simon Cowell’s at all?” “No,” he replies nonchalantly. “Yours is MUCH cuter than Simon’s…” I laugh, stutter an indecipherable response and then cough. Not sexy. We’re 30 seconds into our interview, and I’ve already been rendered speechless. But if his reputation is to be believed, Adam’s ability to shock doesn’t come as a surprise. The handsome singer – who finished second in last year’s season of American Idol, far and away the most watched show on American TV – has always known how to provoke a reaction in people, most notably with his powerhouse voice. Regrettably, though, it’s the negative reactions he sparks inadvertently that generate the most headlines. From his forgivable penchant for guyliner (don’t pretend you haven’t been there), to his opinion-polarising album cover, to his controversial performance at last year’s American Music Awards (in which he kissed and groped a male member of his band, inducing thousands of complaints to TV network ABC) it seems Adam can’t bat a mascara-clad eyelash without offending somebody. The irony being, of course, that Adam’s really not shocking underneath it all. In fact, he’s a just a normal guy who –shock, horror! – is actually WILLING to talk about his sexuality. Adam Lambert: we applaud you. “It catches me off guard,” he admits, recalling the AMA nightmare. “In my circle, and in a lot of the underground clubs and performance spaces in Los Angeles nobody thinks twice about it, they love it. Then I gave what I thought was a harmless performance and everybody jumps down my throat about it. And I’m like ‘Sorry, I didn’t realise it was going to be that big a deal.’” Hostility escalated when the (actually ace) cover of Adam’s space-themed debut album leaked days later. On it, Adam’s brave sense of style is epitomized – he appears in full make up, with electric blue hair and a pout to rival Victoria Beckham’s, looking like a character from the 80s movie Tron. And if a female artist had pulled the exact same pose… “…With the soft focus, and the retouching,” he agrees, “nobody would have said a word. I’m glad you like it, but you’re the minority. Here in the States a lot of people are really uncomfortable with it, which is hilarious. But Tron is a great movie! “I just think you guys in the UK are way further ahead in terms of tolerance,” he adds. “It’s really interesting. In the UK and in Europe proper, it’s less of an issue because people are more comfortable with their sexualities And not just the gay thing, but even playful things, like the concept of androgyny. That is something that generally many Americans are uncomfortable with. Mixing masculine and feminine stereotypes together and playing with it, people get suspicious about it.” But weeks later, Adam answered his critics when For Your Entertainment sold 200,000 copies in its first week on sale, charting above new releases from Rihanna and Lady Gaga, albeit outsold by a certain Scottish lassie… “I know, if only it weren’t for Susan Boyle!” Adam laughs. “I’m happy for her success, but that album is terrible. Wild Horses is the one that made me laugh the hardest. I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song! “Still, when my album charted, it was validating. I was feeling bit attacked, like I had to vindicate something. I thought: ‘Wow, look what I did.’” And one hell of an album it is too - unashamedly electropop, and featuring big name collaborations such as Pink, Linda Perry, and even Muse front man Matt Bellamy. “I love Muse,” Adam enthuses. “I’m a huge fan and I think Matt’s voice is beautiful. I was beside myself when I heard they were willing to give up the song for me. It’s called Soaked, which here in America means wasted, or drunk. “I love the song; lyrically I feel I can relate to it. From a dark place, it’s about that viscous circle of going out and trying to fill a void by getting laid, but doing it by getting wasted in a bar and going home with somebody. That’s what it’s about for me. I’ve been through that: I’m 27 years old and I’ve lived a life where I was looking for something… for meaning, or love, but looking for it in the wrong way.” He may not look 27 (“the make up helps”), but it’s just as well he has a decade on many of his contemporaries. www.gaytimes.co.uk/Magazine/InThisIssue-articleid-6473-sectionid-726.html

Am i the only one who finds him hilarious for slating Susan Boyle's album? lmao, he's just telling it like it is... I finally listened to Susan Boyle's album about a month ago, and it's actually quite pleasant. Not earth-shattering, not innovative, but it's pretty. Sometimes people just want something pretty to listen to. So he's not telling it like it is, he's giving an opinion. 3.5 million people in the US alone disagree with him.

I don't agree with Adam this time, I liked Susan's version of Wild horses. It's not bad. My vocal coach loves Broadway-style female singers, and she didn't think she would like Susan Boyle, but she finally listened and "Wild Horses" is her favorite track primarily because of the changes made to the arrangement.

^Like you said, sometimes people want to hear something pretty, Susan is a great vocalist, not too versatile imo but still great in her style. Kelly Clarkson's version of Wild Horses is not that different from Susan's and I love it, I wonder what Adam would think of it given he adores kelly.

Oh, the irony.... Correction, if only it weren't for Susan Boyle and Andrea Bocceli, but whatever. Did Adam state this is what he was misquoted about, or is everyone just inferring that? Exactly how was he misquoted? In any case, I suspect he did say that as I've already heard him make fun of Susan singing Wild Horses on a radio interview.

Yeah, I'm not sure how all that can be a misquote- I'm not crazy about him saying all of it- his own album is pretty mediocre with only a few good songs to me, but you know, whatever.

The comment says more about Adam than it does about Susan Boyle. He sounds ticked off her brand of cheese sells better than his own.
