I haven't had a chance to listen to the full album yet, but love King of Hearts, Bait, and Uh oh. Regardless of the reviews and where it lands on the charts, her dreams have already come true. I just found this PAPER article from 2017!!!! That has this quote: Reflecting on expectations over the phone, Petras says, "A lot of people didn't believe that I could be a great songwriter, or be super talented, and be transgender. I feel like a lot of people felt like 'transgender' would set you up to not be able to do that. I just want to prove people wrong. I want to get a Number 1 on the [Billboard] Hot 100." www.papermag.com/paper-2018-predictions-kim-petras-2519934406.htmlShe did it!! :)

I think the critics are being a tad harsh, but I also see where they're coming from. Kim has slowly been getting blander and losing her POV. I think going to a major label was a bizarre choice and this definitely feels like an album sanded down by record execs. It's one of those cases where you try to please everyone and possibly end up pleasing nobody. But that all aside, it's a very fun, catchy, glossy pop album and there aren't any total busts on it IMO (although Unholy has no business on here, lol). It's just a tad faceless, which makes the Ava Max comparisons spot on. But there are far worse crimes than not having a strong identity, especially if the music is catchy. And there are some straight-up killer pop songs on here. I do think Problematique had a more singular vision/sound, very similar to Ava's latest and I wish they had just trimmed that to the best tracks and released it. Agree, I'm taking some great pop bops from this and throwing them on a couple of playlists but that's about it.

Kim Petras might be dropping a deluxe version of Feed The Beast with all the other scrapped Problematique cuts this Monday, she teased it both with an announcement for something on the 18th + the Claws live performance just put up on her channel has this little tease.

According to a trusted industry insider on ATRL, they’re releasing the actual Problematique album. Album cover just leaked a few hours ago: 😩😩😩😩😩

I saw from Twitter half people saying it's gonna be added onto as a deluxe to FTB and some saying it's gonna be on its own. I'm just glad it looks to be getting dropped in any capacity but that cover art is really good so hopefully they use it. A little strange considering like 4 songs on FTB were from Problematique but oh well.
But anyways yeah the cover art really challenges Slayyyter's STARFUCKER for favorite album cover of the year.

I've loved "Je T'Adore" since she leaked it on an Instagram reel early this year. I'm glad I can finally delete that screenrecording from my phone. lol
The only thing this is missing is "Future Starts Now". It would have fit right at home here.

I loved Feed The Beast but you can tell this is a more focused and cohesive album especially if you add the songs inserted into FTB + Future Starts Now. So happy to have all these songs in HQ and finished mixing.

It's great to have some of these tracks officially. For some reason, I thought she was gonna reconstruct the album as it was originally meant to be. Obviously that would mean putting the tracks that carried over to Feed The Beast here, which I guess would be weird. It stinks that "Left My Body," "Future Starts Now," and "Your Time To Cry" didn't make it though.

I much prefer this as a body of work to FTB. Agreed that this comes across as way more consistent & planned, even though FTB has some really great tracks (along with some pretty mediocre ones).
Particularly glad “Problematique”, “All She Wants”, “Je’Tadore” & “Born Again” are here!
Also: the album cover is cunt. I love it.

I like this album but can definitely see why it didn't pass the executive meetings of her label. In its current shape, it feels more like a mixtape. There's the beauty in its simplicity and rawness but FTB sounds much more expensive.

Sucks that we didn’t truly get *all* of the tracks though…

The Feed The Beast Target exclusive yellow-colored vinyl is on sale this week for $24.49 (reg. $48.99)! If purchased in-store, it will scan at the regular price but associates will price match it to the Target app or Target.com sale price. It always bewildered me why this particular vinyl was so expensive compared to other 1LP releases. Even the general release is pricey on Amazon.com.

I've been listening to Slut Pop a lot recently (no idea why) so this announcement came as a very positive surprise to me I'm surprised she's doing so much social media promo for such a niche project, the song titles have me choking (Butt Slutt and Whale Cock come on 😭) Ready to blast this all year long the snippets sounded hot as

She liked a post basically admitting this was an Ayesha knockoff and… yeah. This is just so bad.
Slut Pop was bad but this is somehow worse

Oh yay, more meth music from Kim. I have absolutely zero interest in listening to this. Slut pop is unlistenable to me. I’m so over her and disappointed in her career.

The way Kim signed to a major and became completely lost as an artist... It actually came out that Ayesha was in talks with Republic, but they turned her down because Kim was filling their “slutty trans niche” better (this prompted an Azealia-lite Twitter meltdown about Kim injecting more fat into her jaw but that’s beside the point). I’ve never cared for her, but I think it’s a Dr Luke problem. Funny enough, a lot of artists like Chase Icon and Graveyardguy, the people she’s ripping off, came out and basically said no shade but there’s a reason the underground queer scene won’t go near her anymore.

It’s a fun, messy, listen. Something I’d crank up before going out. It’s completely unserious.
Phew some of the hate here though. I get there is better music she could do — but she’s already facing an uphill battle being trans and being mainstream. Girl is making a living. She knows the audience who will come pay for her shows. It won’t be straight girls or underground indie kids. And the people who hate her would gladly bop around to any drag queen lipsyncing a song called “Rim Job” at the bar.

She is so goofy, so, for that reason, I do not take her seriously whatsoever. I will say I love a few songs of hers like Icy, King of Hearts, and Unholy, but the rest of her stuff seems like cheap, disposable, and trashy fun.

Phew some of the hate here though. People are allowed to dislike things. For me it was a non-starter based on the concept. It's been done before, and better, by other artists, so why wouldn't I just listen to them? Songs like "There Will Be Blood" (that entire project really) are fantastic, but lately she's phoning in work "inspired" by other artists– who get paid dust while her label cashes in. I think those are fair criticisms to make.
