Besides, does it really matter if downloads were repressed and her chart status was affected. She's sold 200 million albums worldwide. I don't even think she cares.

the only reason people hate on mariah's #1 streak is because she is so close to beating the PRECIOUS beatles 20 #1 singles record. with 2 more #1 songs, she will be tied. and with 3, blow them out the park. another reason is because she's black. some people HATE to see black people succeed, especially a beautiful black woman. can't wait till mimi REPRESSES "obsessed" and don't release it until September to get that #1! LOL You have to realize that at least Touch My Body (I don't know about the others) only reached #1 because of digital downloads to people like you. Even Taylor Hicks' sorry butt did that. The Beatles did it the hard way, with airplay. Does she even write her own songs? And, honestly, people who listen to pop music know that about 50% of the successful artists nowadays are African-Americans. People still love Aretha, Whitney, and Tina Turner. So, I don't think race has as much to do with it as much as nostalgia. Dude, TMB was a big airplay hit. The vast majority of Mariah's big hits are airplay hits. And yes, she does write her own songs.

Oops I got distracted lol...was at work. Let's see....26 top ten hits, counting Endless Love and I Know What U Want. Yeah actually comparing Top 10s completely gets rid of the repressed download/single "possible discrepancy" IMO - right now she's only 6 Top 10s short of the Beatles, which is pretty impressive (in and of itself) Also just noticed Madonna had 29 Top 10 hits as of 1995 (when book I'm usin came out), so really surprised no one has talked about her having more Top 10 hits than the Beatles (assumin she's had at least 4 since then)

She has the Rock Era Top 10 singles record as 4M allowed her to surpass Elvis at 36. the Beatles have 34. Those chart books are written by Joel Whitburn, right? Well Billboard doesn't agree with everything he concludes. Elvis officially has 17 #1s and 36 Top 10s according to Billboard, despite the fact the he claims 18 and 38.

Oh yeah...it's by Joel Whitburn - had no clue that Billboard didn't agree with him lol But yeah - really surprised that Madonna has more Top 10s than Beatles or Elvis, and Billboard didn't play that one up at all

And the Elvis discrepancy comes from a double sided single, Don't Be Cruel/Hound Dog, that Billboard counts as one #1 single, and the Elvis camp and some others count as two. Billboard is the official count though, so he's got 17. I think I do remember, btw, some discussion of Madonna's amount of top 10 hits when 4 Minutes hit top 10. Probably in Chart Beat or something.
