I attended the official UK album listening party tonight in London. The album sounds great. The lead single is NOT one of the stronger tracks.

That's strange, I though The Adevntures Of... was the best song on the album after only hearing once. Don't remember the title, but track 1 was solid too for me. The lead single is NOT one of the stronger tracks.

Track 1 is the standout for me as well. "Monarchy of Roses."

That's the one. This album seemed very cohesive, but short on singles.

Agreed! Although most of my favorite songs on Stadium Arcadium didn't click til after a few listens. Some of these songs may not be instant but most have potential. I'll give this album a shot as a whole (which is rare for me these days).

Other than the first listen, I never made it all the way through Arcadium again. I was almost done with the band at that point. Glad they changed gears a tad to keep their career strong.

I listened to the album this afternoon while pulling out my hair trying to learn how to code in PHP. Thank god this is really the first album that I really liked quite a bit since "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" and I liked every song or I would be bald now. Plenty of catchy songs that I could see as strong singles on there.

Really enjoy the album as well. Hoping for "Ethiopia" as a single.

I recall a faint disco vibe tying this album together.

I guess I can include "Californiacation" in there too, although I didn't like it as much as this album. I really didn't like about half of "Stadium Arcadium" and "By The Way" and don't remember much from "One Hot Minute" at all besides the singles.

Billboard.biz says I'm With You is being outsold by Lil' Wayne's new album at a 5:1 clip. I know Wayne is big with the CHR crowd, but how could rock fans let this happen?!?

^ Because rock is a decreasing market. CHR, Urban, and Rhythmic (Wayne's formats) are all bigger than the rock formats, so I'd expect Wayne to sell more. Besides, in 2008 he opened with over a million copies sold in one week. So, for sales, Wayne > RHCP.

Yeah, he has a history of bringing in huge debut numbers for his albums. This isn't shocking in the slightest.

Not so shocking. Just thought maybe they'd get half.

It may stabilize a bit and keep swaping the top spot with Foo Fighters for some weeks to come.

For those that bought the album (I haven't had the time yet), who is credited as the backing vocals on Did I Let You Know? Very good sound. Heard it on radio today and seems like a great single choice.

^ "Did I Let You Know" and "Brendan's Death Song" HAVE to be singles...I heard their eying Ethiopia, which would be a big mistake. Also, those are Josh's background vocals -- he has a really high voice. He's their new guitarist.

I kind of assumed it was Josh. But I almost thought it was female. His vocals blend so well with that song. I will get this CD today. Can't wait to hear it again.

Not hearing any obvious hits after several listens. "Rain Dance Maggie" was my favorite track, still, with "Look Around" being second.

That was easily my first impression. Very short on singles, but a very strong 4.5 stars album.

Also, HDD has debut week's sales totals at 232k. Billboard's official numbers should be up tomorrow.

I didn't look up the final official numbers, but I'm sure that's close. What's HDD again?
"The Adventures..." tied Staind at #1 on Active rock. But I'm not sure it can make it back to #1. It's also creeping up a bit on "Walk" on Alternative again.

XM has been playing "Look Around" as the new single the last few days. I'll wait 'til a Sirius station plays it before it's official. But if this and "Arlandria" get released at the same time, it could be the first 1-2 combination topping the charts featuring hand claps. That would be awesome. But unfortunately, "Bridge Burning" and "Dear Rosemary" both have gains of 75+ the last four days, possibly taking "Arlandria" out of the running.

XM has been playing "Look Around" and "Monarchy" since a week before the album release. I'll be pissed if they chose "Look Around," though. The chorus is weak sauce. People are just going with that one because it sounds familiar...I honestly think it'd flop, though. The second single should make a big impression since the first didn't (even though it's pleasant and really catchy, it didn't make a statement). There are a lot of songs they could go with, but I think "Did I Let You Know," "Brendan's Death Song" or "Police Station" seem like the obvious choices. IMHO, those could be the singles...I wouldn't be upset if one of the two ballads were replaced w/ "Monarchy," though.
