Carrie looked gorgeous and sounded great. And good on her for singing live when the norm is to lip sync.

Carrie Underwood got DRAGGED on Twitter last night. I don't know which was uglier -- the responses or that FLAT ending note. Either way, it was ugly baby.

I'm surprised no one has posted the new tour dates yet.
June 1 Nampa, ID The Idaho Center June 3 Broomfield, CO Odeum Colorado June 4 Colorado Springs, CO Colorado Springs World Arena June 12 Birmingham, AL BJCC Arena June 13 Lexington, KY Rupp Arena June 15 Springfield, MO JQH Arena June 17 Fargo, ND Fargodome June 18 Winnipeg, MB MTS Centre June 20 Saskatoon, SK Credit Union Centre
Yay! CMA Fest is June 10-13. With Carrie having concerts on June 12 and 13, that leaves just 2 nights as options for LP Field-- the 10th or 11th. The CMT Music Awards show is on June 9. Then Carrie's regular Opry gig during CMA Fest week, fan club party, softball game, autograph signing... just factor all those in the killer schedule :)

I say July or August too. Any gambling odds? Haha! Also, reading Carrie's blog about the Superbowl and her anthem, I'm reminded of why I love her so. Scott Borchetta can learn a lot from her if he didn't belittle her so. Carrie is my hero! And Vinman, I lost the ticket I was telling you about. I can't get tickets any better than terrace now. I'll have to wait for the general sale and hope they release tickets near the front again. ETA: Carrie Underworm? COOL!!!

Does anyone remember the date of the festival in Minnesota (the festival that Carrie pulled out of)? part of me thinks that maybe with the Senators all but assured of making the playoffs and having to play in June, Carrie decided to go on tour since she can't vacation with Mike. lol

The reactions were HORRIBLE! It was definitely NOT 60% positive. I checked for them the second she finished. People hated both her and Queen Latifah. Even this morning, if you rummage through the the people that have tweeted about...it's STILL more negative than positive. She was a #fail.

Of course people can have/express their opinions, but obviously the critic's opinion is typically more substantial. With that said, most of the critics have been positive because they don't judge a performance on one note. They also, for the most part take into consideration how she probably had trouble hearing herself, she was singing live - accapella, and she kept the Anthem the way it's supposed to be.

Of course there are going to be people out there that hate for obvious reasons, but you know, there are some people that just flat out didn't like it. I got texts from three different people immediately afterwards saying they thought she was strained at parts and went flat. Why should that not matter? Just because she chose to sing it acapella? That was her choice. No one forced her to do it that way. Just because she took a risk doesn't mean that she gets a free pass for being criticized. And since when couldn't she hear herself? ???

It doesn't matter what people say on twitter anyway - the people that matter, the critics, have all been positive because they don't judge a performance on one note. They also, for the most part take into consideration how she couldn't hear herself, she was singing live - accapella, and she kept the Anthem the way it's supposed to be. That was her choice. No one forced her to do it that way. Just because she took a risk doesn't mean that she gets a free pass for being criticized. And since when couldn't she hear herself? ??? I see why people are saying the critics matter more than the tweets--we give people the title of "critic" because we assume, more or less, they have a general authority over the subject matter. That doesn't mean their opinion is more valid than anyone else's, but they tend to be experts in their genre of choice (or they should be) and therefore their opinion can be more widely regarded. However, blog posts for big news publications don't always come from "critics"--aka the people who review albums, but rather staff writers, or hopeful critics. Though, their opinions can still be said to "weigh more," as more people will read a NY Times blog post about Carrie's singing than a random person's tweet. That being said, the general population should matter a great deal--they are the album and concert ticket buyers. Also, unless technical difficulties are later discussed/proven, there is no justification behind saying she couldn't hear herself. She had an earpiece, so even when all the noise came on, she should still be able to hear herself to some degree. The only one who couldn't hear themselves was Queen Latifah, who unfortunately ripped her earpiece out within seconds (and she needed to be able to hear herself).

There was only one bad note in the whole performance, so it baffles me how people can say the entire performance sucked. That is a gross exagerration.

I agree with this also, since I thought overall the performance was good. I can also understand how some folks, like Mike, thought she sounded strained and a bit flat. Either way, she masked her nerves like a veteran while singing LIVE for the biggest television audience known to man. For that, I have HUGE respect........

People who don't like Carrie are going to jump on every little thing they can to put her down. If she had sung every note perfectly, they still would have found something to criticize. What I think is funny is that the ones who are harping on it are new names on this forum. At least I've never seen them before. Do you think maybe they have an agenda?

It doesn't matter what people say on twitter anyway - the people that matter, the critics, have all been positive because they don't judge a performance on one note. They also, for the most part take into consideration how she couldn't hear herself, she was singing live - accapella, and she kept the Anthem the way it's supposed to be. That was her choice. No one forced her to do it that way. Just because she took a risk doesn't mean that she gets a free pass for being criticized. And since when couldn't she hear herself? ??? I didn't mean it like that. I'm not saying Twitter posts don't matter. I'm saying most of the negative comments came from people who didn't like Carrie to begin with, so what can you expect? It's not like twitter is an official place where people go for reviews. I worded it wrong, sorry. Your opinion is just as valid as anyone. It seems all the negative reviews have come from twitter so far - I haven't read any official reviews from real sources that were negative. About not hearing herself, keep in mind what we hear on our TVs at home is what directly goes into the microphone, even then you could hear the crowd. Imagine what it sounded like to Carrie, all that noise while she was singing - no noise blocking device, and no track playing in her ear. At the last phrase, I doubt she was able to hear herself over the crowd. At that point, I personally believe she was singing from Vocal memory - basically singing what felt right to her. Obviously there are other theories as to why she went flat, but that's mine.
