Exactly....because everyone else's songs were about Haiti. #getaclue Most of them at least had something to do with hope. It wouldn't of killed her to have performed another choice of song. I'll Stand By You, Like A Prayer, Hallelujah, Breathless, Lift Me Up, Stranded, A Message, etc. were all a thousand times more appropriate for the benefit then Halo was. It's fine if she wants to do that for a personal tribute (i.e. her Michael Tribute which seemed a thousand times more sincere then this most recent one) but now it just seems insincere, offensive, fake, and calculated. To be honest this whole event in general feels like just another way for celebs to build publicity up for future projects. Beyonce is just making it worse by being so transparent about her "efforts". Who cares what it seems like to you. Who are you?? You're always finding something to complain about. You can't determine someone's "efforts" to help a country by their song choice, you retard. Quit trying to play the Malcom X of Pulse and go sit yourself somewhere.

What other song was she gonna sing? Beyonce doesn't have many meaningful songs of her own and she would have found a way to remix a classic. It's a lose lose.

I wonder if Cisus would have performed her CLASSIC take on MJ's "Heal The World" if invited.

Studio Version of 'Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)' - Bono, Jay-Z, Rihanna, The Edge Produced by Swizz Beatz & Declan Gaffney The genesis of the song came with Jay-Z collaborator Swizz Beatz sending simultaneous text messages to Jay-Z and Bono. They agreed to do it, and Bono wrote the hook for “Stranded” while on the phone with Beatz. The latter said, “The idea of the song is ‘We’re not gonna leave you stranded’ and that’s what the chorus is. So me and Bono started going back and forth with ideas, and he was like, ‘You know this word stranded keeps standing out to me’ and I asked him to sing it, and he put me on hold ’cause he’s recording the ideas on a Dictaphone — so he did it there and then on the phone.”
The recording was done over diverse geographic locations and melded together, with The Edge helping out with extra production work. Beatz then added Rihanna into the effort, later saying “I knew that Jay would be able to tell a story, and that Bono would be able to sing and bring it home. The last component that I added was Rihanna, and she’s kinda like the angel that’s on the track, softening it up and giving it that caring feeling, because this hook is so powerful.” The final recording was produced by Beatz and Declan Gaffney.www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B7UdyEGjh8I know its a tribute to Haiti and all, but this could be a rare memorable charity hit if it catches on. Sounded much better live last night. Even Jay-Z boringly rapping was bearable.

Can't stop listening to Halo! EW listed it as one of the top performances of the night! The reviews have been amazing!

Or Perhaps you simply shouldn't of commented at all. That would have been a more effective posting choice for you because now you just look embarrassed.

Beyonce was fantastic. I (and I'm sure the rest of the world) could have done without the "Haiti I can see your halo..." line, but other than that she sounded virtually flawless. It wasn't my favorite performance of the night, but you can't deny Beyonce's vocals. She was on.

Franky, there's no point in addressing you seriously because you have such an obvious agenda that raises its head in every single post you make regardless of the topic. Do you honestly think people haven't realized that everything you say boils down to building up Britney and attacking any and everyone else?

Which is why I praised Christina Aguilera's performance last evening. Try again, you get 3.

^That only proves my point; even when you praise someone besides Britney, you can't help but get in a dig. I'm not going to turn this thread into your trial but it's painfully obvious to anyone with mild reading comprehension skills what you're up to.

Funny how a good portion of the artists (Beyonce, Jay-Z, Rihanna) are all in France at the NRJ awards right now.
Kelly Rowland too.

I've watched most clips on youtube and it seems like the best 3 were Mary J Blige, John Legend & Jennifer Hudson.

That's interesting. A few days ago Pras stated on 106 & Park that he would have to sit down and talk to Wyclef if he thought something was fishy about the money getting to the Haitians, and that was before Wyclef was accused of that. Woooow. You just never know about that kind of stuff. Sucks because it makes you think twice about donating, and where your money is really going. I hope it doesn't make people think twice about donating. That's why you have to give to something like this or the Red Cross. Red Cross only uses .09 of every dollar for administrative purposes.

So Justin, Sheryl/Keith/Kid and J-Hud are in the lead on iTunes followed by Christina, Coldplay & Taylor and then both versions of Jay-Z/Rihanna/U2.
Jennifer Hudson & John Legend's performances were definitely my favorites.

After purchasing the album, and listening to the tracks without the visuals, I have to say that I'm really impressed across the board.
I really wasn't a fan of Beyoncé's "Halo" during the broadcast, but I was distracted by her bangs. But listening back, the vocals are great. My favourite performances were easily by Coldplay, Springsteen, John Legend, Sheryl Crow and Emeline Michel. But a great job all around.

Agreed - good album overall
Best performances: Artists not singing their own hits but rather songs by others with lyrics relevant to Haiti
Lean On Me, Let it Be, etc.
Afterall, this is a charity event, not an event for self-promotion (Beyonce, etc.)

Madonna may be a dumbass regarding promotion in her later years but I highly doubt she saw this as a career-advancing promo opportunity considering she sang a 21 year old song.

IN MY OPINION, I wouldn't lump that one in as one of the better songs for Haiti though
It is not self promotion of a new single but there are better song choices for this event
