Nope. he was even on TV crying about it. That's interesting. A few days ago Pras stated on 106 & Park that he would have to sit down and talk to Wyclef if he thought something was fishy about the money getting to the Haitians, and that was before Wyclef was accused of that. Woooow. You just never know about that kind of stuff. Sucks because it makes you think twice about donating, and where your money is really going.

Brit could've sung one of her hits that had nothing to do with Haiti and tried to change the lyrics...oops...Beyonce already did that tonight.

LMAO. I'm never going to be able to recover from "Haiti I can see your halo". It was unfitting, tacky, and plain borderline offensive.

I don't know why people are acting like that in regards to Beyonce singing Halo. It's an old song and doesn't need promotion. Ok, it doesn't EXACTLY fits Haiti or it's disaster, but it still works and it was a beautiful performance.

Plus "Remember those walls I built Well, baby they're tumbling down And they didn't even put up a fight, They didn't even make up a sound..." fits very well with the event...

How tacky to remind these people their walls just came tumbling down.
This is just as bad as her singing "Ave Maria" for MJ at the BET Awards in a white wedding dress.

Maybe she could have sung Survivor...

PREACH! Only at PMB will some people even be b***hing and moaning about who is snatching whose wig and singing on-key, off-key, and the neverending my diva can outsing/outsell your diva when 'discussing' a benefit. Yes, this is a message board but it's still somewhat shocking and disgusting. Can people put aside these petty differences for just a few minutes? All these artists/singers devoted their time and effort for this cause. They came together to unite as one for one common purpose. As if that matters as much as proving Madonna's vocal abilities transcend all other sonic matter on the planet. I mean really, where are your priorities? Please.

Studio Version of 'Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)' - Bono, Jay-Z, Rihanna, The Edge
Produced by Swizz Beatz & Declan Gaffney
The genesis of the song came with Jay-Z collaborator Swizz Beatz sending simultaneous text messages to Jay-Z and Bono. They agreed to do it, and Bono wrote the hook for “Stranded” while on the phone with Beatz. The latter said, “The idea of the song is ‘We’re not gonna leave you stranded’ and that’s what the chorus is. So me and Bono started going back and forth with ideas, and he was like, ‘You know this word stranded keeps standing out to me’ and I asked him to sing it, and he put me on hold ’cause he’s recording the ideas on a Dictaphone — so he did it there and then on the phone.”
The recording was done over diverse geographic locations and melded together, with The Edge helping out with extra production work. Beatz then added Rihanna into the effort, later saying “I knew that Jay would be able to tell a story, and that Bono would be able to sing and bring it home. The last component that I added was Rihanna, and she’s kinda like the angel that’s on the track, softening it up and giving it that caring feeling, because this hook is so powerful.” The final recording was produced by Beatz and Declan Gaffney.
I know its a tribute to Haiti and all, but this could be a rare memorable charity hit if it catches on.

Exactly....because everyone else's songs were about Haiti. #getaclue Most of them at least had something to do with hope. It wouldn't of killed her to have performed another choice of song. I'll Stand By You, Like A Prayer, Hallelujah, Breathless, Lift Me Up, Stranded, A Message, etc. were all a thousand times more appropriate for the benefit then Halo was. It's fine if she wants to do that for a personal tribute (i.e. her Michael Tribute which seemed a thousand times more sincere then this most recent one) but now it just seems insincere, offensive, fake, and calculated. To be honest this whole event in general feels like just another way for celebs to build publicity up for future projects. Beyonce is just making it worse by being so transparent about her "efforts".

To be honest, the majority of people including critics liked Beyoncé's performance. It was a trending topic on twitter. It's just people on this board that take everything out of context because of Beyoncé, her performance was lovely. All of the performances where great, it wasn't about anyone else except Haiti.

Beyonce sounded great on "Halo," but, yeah, the lyrical adjustment was kinda... odd. But, imagine if it had been, "We're everything you need and more," as it is the USA (and others) helping the country out. The scandal...
The situation, like any natural disaster, is very sad and unfortunate. Hopefully, with all the donations, they can get things moving in the right direction.

Y'all still whining about Beyonce singing Halo. Get over it! It was effective and I hear nothing negative coming from anyone about her song choice except from this board.

Some of you should be a shame of yourselves. These celebs are doing this for a good cause and you're making fun of them. Shame. PREACH! All these artists/singers devoted their time and effort for this cause. They came together to unite as one for one common purpose. Post of The Week. applause..... And I was really impressed with how quickly Bono came up with the song just over the course of a phone call.Just another little bit of evidence of his creativity and why he's well on his way to being a legend.

Personally, if my region was just devastated by a natural disaster, I wouldn't want anyone singing, speaking, or implying that he or she could see its halo. In pop culture, the halo is used most often to signify something that is dead. That's quite insulting. And like syrus said, the 'walls tumbling down' reference was also completely unnecessary. She could have picked a different song.

Singing Halo was a bit tacky, but it wasn't offensive; it was trademark Beysus. You can love it or hate it; I'll do the former.
