I really wasn't a fan of Beyoncé's "Halo" during the broadcast, but I was distracted by her bangs. And who wasn't?

"Like a Prayer" (per Madge in 1989) is about a relationship to God (course, those with wandering minds could interpret it another way, which is fine- Madge is keen on multiple meanings to songs)- what better subject for the aftermath of such a tragic event? It may not be 100% perfect for the occasion, but it was appropriate for the occasion. Much rather that than "Imagine" redux or "Hey You."
Would "Live to Tell" have been more "appropriate"? LAP, along with "Ray of Light" and "Music" were great choices for Live 8 in 2005 (and also went down as highlights of that event).
Alicia Keys did real well- at the time I was wondering where that song originated, as it didn't sound like Real Life or Scorpions (who recorded tracks with that title).

^ Re The Alicia Keys track. Its her own song was titled "Prelude to a Kiss" from her "As I Am" album.

iTunes just credited it wrong. Same thing happened w/ "Hallelujah" being credited as JT and some other artist instead of Matt Morris (which has now been corrected).

Seems like the rest of the world enjoyed Beys perfomance! :) They would've probably enjoyed it too if she had performed Single Ladies, that doesn't mean it's appropriate.

Personally I didn't find Halo to be offending. The "Hatti I can see your halo" part was iffy, but I thought the song fit(somewhat)...I see no critics or publications bashing her choice(EW thought she had one of the best performances). I mean if Halo was bad and offending, then was Like a Prayer? Again I don't see the harm of that song either. I guess didn't strokes for different folks. I'm just glad they raised alot of money for charity(which it was about), shit I wouldn't have said anything if Britney lipped her way through Baby one more time, as long as it would help get more money for the people in need.

FIrst - great that the show brought in so much money. Hopefully, it will be spent right.
Second - VH1 and CMT are both airing Taylor Swift's performance. This young lady just can't sing.

I thought EVERYONE as well as Taylor were great on hope for Haiti. Looks like everyone brought their A game. Taylor was pitch perfect to me. Plus, it's not about what the artist sounds like it about charity and helping Haiti. At least she was part of it and gave her time. But if I had to pick one person who wasn't all that great it would be Cheryl Crow.

LOL at that. The most obvious part that it was live was when she skipped the words "life is a" in the "life is a mystery" part after the choir part. Some of those people will never learn.
