Nothing phenomenal, but a solid entry into their catalog, nevertheless. I don't remember being instantly smitten with "Down" or "Days of the Week," but those grew on me.

I'm not anticipating phenomenal. They'll probably never come close to making songs better than Plush, Vasoline and Interstate Love Song but I'll still be happy to hear it.

STP has never really been one of my favorite bands, but I'm liking this one so far. I mostly gravitate towards their more upbeat and catchy songs like "Unglued", "Big Bang Baby", and "Days Of The Week". And this one definitely leans in that direction. It actually reminds me a little of The Vines' "Hate To Say I Told You So".

Same here. I only own the fourth and fifth CDs, mainly because Down caught my ears. Haven't heard anything else but the singles.

I've become completely burnt out over the years from their big singles from "Core" & "Purple" and whenever they come on the radio, I unfortunately have to change the station before I puke. Exclude "Vasoline" though. That song is by far my favorite of their's. Otherwise, I like everything else, but it kind of sucks that I almost never hear them being played anymore.

+479 on the official survey. Not exactly blowing anyone away just yet. Still early enough though.

I'm surprised about that; I would have expected a new Stone Temple Pilots song to be knocking on the door of the next debut number 1.

Considering they've never had a #1, I'm not sure how a luke-warm hyped comeback will get them there on alternative. But for a chart starving for a big name, this might be the one do get them their first.

That seems like a pretty good start to me for a band that hasn't been around since 2001. I never expected this to be close to debuting top 20, let alone number one. Either way it will soar into the top 10 at least. Either it will be a quick up and down shot if its not really well received or if it gets call out numbers that show having them back will be successful, we may see this hit number one for a couple months. Without hearing it in full yet, I would put my money on the quick burn and that there will be follow up tracks that out do "Between The Lines".

Without looking, I'd have to assume Sour Girl from the '90s was their last top ten hit.

^ That was a quintessential quick riser and quick quick faller. If "Between The Lines" is not well-received, its chart run should be very similar.

But for the record, and for anyone who cares, they have reached #1 on active and rock.

Yeah, considering how long Interstate Love Song spent on Mainstream at #1, I remember being surprised that both it and Vasoline peaked at #2.

Well, I was replying to Rich P. based on his comment about their Alternative charting. I do agree they've had several hits on the mainstream and active fronts.

Am I crazy? I don't remember Eric Kretz drumming during the 2008 reunion tour, though when I tried to find out why just now, not only couldn't I find anything, but I couldn't find any mention of him being absent in the first place.

I heard this on WPBZ for the first time yesterday. It's better than I thought. Before the DJ played it, he said he saw STP at the SXSW festival and Scott Weilland really looks cleaned up and they seemed really excited to see what kind of impact this new record makes.

Apparently the music and the vocals are being recorded separately?

^Yeah, apparently Scott Weiland was going through a reclusive stage and decided to record all the vocals in his studio.
