I think Weiland sounds a lot more like Cobain. Maybe the rhythm was more like Pearl Jam back then, I honestly don't remember Plush. I think I have Stone Temple Pilots's hits CD so I'll check it out if I get some time.

I don't see how you can call STP ''heavier'' than Pearl Jam. They're both hard-rocking grunge bands. Pearl Jam are just a hell lot better. I used to think PJ was better. Until "Purple" came out. That changed everything for me. I became extremely bored w/ PJ post Vitology.

Aside from the bridge of Between the Lines sounding a bit like Stay Away, I've never had the thought cross my mind. It's not even that I think the VOICES sound the same on that portion of the song- I hear a melodic similarity.

Personally, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and STP all got stupid comparisons just because they were part of the new revolution in music. For me they were all just great bands with music I loved and I guess maybe because I was already 19 or 20 when I started listening to them and have since been listening so long I don't hear resemblances at all because they are all distinctly different for me.

The only one I've liked consistently (more than one or two songs here and there) has been Pearl Jam. They may be grunge, but they've also been able to transcend that label, which is something Nirvana, AIC, and STP aren't/weren't really able to do IMO.

As much as I've tried to get into the 90s grunge stuff again, which I seemed to like when I first got into music in the early-mid 90s, I've been so burnt out on the big singles from that era that I skip over them when they come on the radio now. I've never liked Alice In Chains and aren't too fond of Chris Cornell's voice, but can tolerate Soundgarden. I have no problem liking the material Pearl Jam and STP have put out over the last decade. Nirvana I just can't listen to anymore thanks to radio killing their big hits.

The only Nirvana CD I can listen to anymore is Bleach. I noticed they rereleased an anniversary edition. I'll have to go get that.

I think STP transcended "grunge" when they released Tiny Music.

I honestly don't remember Plush. How can anyone who knows of Stone Temple Pilots, or alternative music in general, not remember Plush? Seriously, how is that possible?

Well I'm sure if he heard the song, he'd be like OH THAT ONE. Either that, or Sirius XM Alt Nation doesn't play "Plush" enough considering that's where Artie hears everything anyway.

I haven't after all these years, so it's not going to happen. Puzzling me is the fact that if one doesn't know a song being discussed, before making a post wouldn't one take 30 seconds to play the song on the Internet so that one can actually make a competent post? But that's just my two cents worth.

Seriously, how is that possible? lol, before I really started listening to them, the only songs I'd heard were "Sour Girl" and "Interstate Love Song". That as well as "All In The Suit That You Wear" and their "Shangri-La Dee Da" singles.

When I first heard these guys, I could only remember Wicked Garden and Trippin' on a Hole.

It depends on age. I knew "Plush" long before I even knew about STP. I am old enough to remember when it and "Interstate Love Song" were inescapable on pop radio.

My pop station (when I was first listening) frequently played the acoustic version of "Plush." Then when I moved up to OK, the Hot AC station played "Interstate Love Song" quite a bit. It took a long while before I realized both songs were from STP.
"Sour Girl" was a real favorite as I was getting into rock music: It inspired me to go buy No. 4, one of the first albums I owned (but "No Way Out" had also been released by that point).

I got cable TV right about the time "Plush" blew up. And of course it crossed over to Pop radio and was a Top 15 there. I was aware of "Sex Type Thing" before that, but I never actually heard it until after "Wicked Garden" and "Creep" had already come out.

that somone claims to have never heard Plush.... I guess the radio was broken in 92-93... I still hear the acoustic version, as well as the regular version, fairly frequently now, along with many other catalog titles from them. They are still all over rock radio.

Between the Lines currently sits one spin from the top on the rolling chart. I'll be interested to see if the official chart for the week already has them at number one.

Vasoline is when I started hearing them. Didn't buy any album until 4. After buying Thank You, Sex Type Thing, Plush, and Wicked Game did sound familiar.

I wasn't listening to rock radio in 1992-93, but I have heard the song plenty of times in the years since I did start listening. As far as grunge goes, I still love Nirvana and Alice In Chains. I do get sick of hearing the biggest singles from those bands, but there's plenty more stuff in their respective catalogs that I can still enjoy listening to. Pearl Jam and STP have always been hit-or-miss for me. With Soundgarden, I enjoy most of their singles but I haven't brought myself to listen to a whole album of theirs.

I guess the radio was broken in 92-93.. If you do the math, you'll see that I was 5/6 during 1993. I wasn't into music at the time. I only knew the oldies my parents listened to (mostly). I didn't listen to radio myself.

#1 on Billboard Rock Songs chart.
I agree about getting sick of the big singles from some of the early 90s bands. I can't even listen to the singles from Pearl Jam's Ten. I don't mind if they play later stuff but enough with Alive, Evenflow, and Jeremy already.
As much as I love STP I can do without hearing Plush....even Interstate Love Song, which is a fantastic song, is a little burnt out for me. I do love hearing other stuff from Core and Purple though...still sounds great on the radio.
For some reason, I guess based on "Between the Lines", I think the new record will be more in the vein of Tiny Music~ not a "heavy" record like #4 or Core.

I actually was just getting into rock in the early 90s (early high school for me), but I definitely was aware of Plush.

Yeah, I still hear Plush at least once a week. Almost as much as I hear Vasoline.

I wouldn't mind seeing this at #1 for a few weeks what with all the weak songs on the Alternative chart right now.
