I am so happy Adam will be performing at the GLAAD Media Awards. So many people talk about him being gay as controversy but don't acknowledge how HUGE of a deal it is for an openly gay artist to be finding mainstream success on the American music scene. It's been almost 16 years since Melissa Etheridge hit the top 15...far too long.

Adam Lambert's Whataya Want From Me led all American Idol alumnae's track sales last week, selling more than 54,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That's a seven percent increase over the previous week, bring his total to 756,000. (If he can maintain downloads in the 50,000 area, he'll pass the million mark in five to six weeks.)

Alrighty then. I am cross-posting this in both the Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert threads.

For reasons that are truly beyond my comprehension, a selection of Aiken and Lambert fans have taken it upon themselves to bait each other about their respective favorite. Among them are alchemist, desertflower, moodswings, and starsprinkles. I understand that each artist has been ungracious about the other. But it seems to me that the fan-warring has become much more than Follow the Leader (which, frankly, was weird enough in the first place). There also appears to some strange competitive teardown mentality to make their chosen one the most successful gay Idol alumni ever. In some cases, that interacts with former fandoms, as I've seen at least one Aiken fan claim to have liked Lambert before being turned off by him, and ditto a Lambert fan who claims to have been an Aiken fan prior to being turned off by him.

But here's the thing. You're all quite transparent and you are derailing the Aiken and Lambert threads (with some added help from other Idol fans whose ongoing interest in fan-warring is also beyond my comprehension). Your antics in the first few days of April will earn a number of you additional warnings. You can keep doing what you're doing, relentlessly picking at perceived or actual weak points in the thread of this Idol whom you so dislike and are so over, and you can keep allowing yourself to be baited by that kind of behavior. Because that will just result you in accumulating additional warnings and put you closer to a suspension of your board membership. Or you could channel your energy into the thread of the artists whom you actually like, and maybe dial down your defensiveness from level 11.

Let me be clear: I am not about enforcing 100% sunshine and positivity in these threads. However, there is a group of posters (several of them named above) who have made it very evident that their criticisms aren't meant to foster good discussion, but rather serve as jabs based on fandom histories that exist outside of this board and have absolutely no place here. Their poses of distant interest are belied by their actions, which reveal a vested anti-fandom that does not contribute constructively to this board. And that's what needs to stop if these posters wish to continue posting here at Pulse.

In short, the fan-warring is obvious. Can it now, or you won't be long for this board.

So there's a rumor going around from 2 different Dj's in 2 different parts of the country that Adam is being brought in to mentor next week on Idol. Apparently they're claiming that RCA sent out an email to radio stations today about it. Here's the guy's tweets about it. To put it mildly, the DJ didn't seem exactly enthused about the idea (in fact, he hated the idea) but here's the not so terrible tweets about it from him

That's true but I think I remember this being brought up before with Kelly Clarkson and she said she would not want to do that at the time- plus her schedule was always crazy during Idol- it's possible some other of the big ones like Underwood have been asked and said no.

This has GOT to have been a last minute thing because Adam debunked this very rumor a little over a week ago. Maybe they had a mentor cancel, and since Adam was performing, they just went with Adam as a mentor?

My main gripe. He's certainly talented enough. I just figured they would go with an established Idol, or hell, one that won the show. He could offer some insight to contest having been on the show though, so I'm warming up on the idea. Still not sold though.

Confirmed by Entertainment Weekly. Adam will mentor on April 13th and perform "WWFM" on April 14th. First time a former contestant has returned as a mentor. Quite impressive, but I'm sure this will piss a lot of people off lmao.

it's funny to see some upset though considering the mentor role is not really that some kind of honor or award- miley did it, for goodness same, and some have done as little as spent a couple of minutes with the Idols and split. I think Barry manilow spent a lot of time with them during his stint, but Barry is was also a record producer so he had more experience than most. But from what I gather from most of them, they heard them sing,say a few words and then head out the door.

At this point, except Jesus making miracles, I doubt it makes a big difference whoever mentor those contestants. It might as well be someone just played that game.

I think the mentoring thing depends on the mentor themselves. Apparently Jamie Foxx was an AMAZING mentor that spent literally all day with the kids, and even took them out to lunch. Very little of their interaction was shown on TV. However, others just get one or two run throughs of their songs and that's it. I think Adam will be the Jamie kind of mentor more than the "sing and run" mentor.

I have heard these mixes. The Brad Walsh mix of FYE is very similar to the original. The Nevins mix of WWFM is like a faster, pumped up version of the original. There's a slightly more mellow mix Jason did that appeared on the promo.
