It sounds like police or ambulance sirens in the background at certain points.
I like it a lot. But I have no idea what the hell she's saying. First time I heard it I thought she said "Teach us that wesson oil's still good in dressing".

It sounds like police or ambulance sirens in the background at certain points. It is! Maybe there'll be a hot dramatic video "Unbreak My Heart"-style. This song really is like Toni's WBT--especially the way she delivers the start of the 2nd verse. This has really grown on me. Toni better get off her ass and do something!

I almost like this as much as "Take This Ring". "Libra" is going to be one of the best albums of the year.

I think the full title fits better than just "Trippin"
Cooperman's icon is the album cover (I think) BTW I TOLD YOU ALL THERE WOULD BE 12 TRACKS!

I would really love this song if I could understand what she's saying. "That's the way love works most of the time"? And for some reason I like the new title better. It takes my attention away from the "trippin" knowing that isnt the title of the song.
I like how she says "mayne" instead of "man." Hot nu dirty south lingo from Toni!

I just sat here for like 20 minutes listening to this song to figure out what the hell she was saying. This song actually has nice lyrics and a nice theme. It's saying no relationship is perfect and all that hoo-hah. Now that I know what she's saying, I like the song even more. Make this a smash Toni "Lazy Ass" Braxton!!!
For anybody who cares...
Toni Braxton
That’s The Way Love Works (Trippin)
Aint nobody ever prove their love when Things are all good and two people are smiling Love is found way down in the trenches When he’s throwing a fit And she’s damn near crying We tear it up (tear it up) To patch it up (patch it up) We break up to makeup This show goes round and round And that’s how we get down We go back and forth And anybody who sat through this should know That what I say is the realest Real loves feels this way
We say things that we don’t mean And that’s the way love works out sometimes He trippin—she trippin—and we both be trippin man Cause that’s the way love works out sometimes Cause when its on its and you’re no longer stressing And life teaches a lesson That love is still a blessing Cause when it’s all said and done we’re back at square one And that’s the way love works out sometimes
Wha-wha-what what what you know about Screaming, yelling, cussing, brushing, and rumbling and arguing Like it’s 12 rounds up inside the Garden? I say, “Where the hell are you going?” You say, “I’m getting outta here” And I say, “You aint going nowhere” Then I find you downstairs I get around you and I scream Start right kissing I know you’re still the one And the truth is this is really love When I feel like going off I brush my shoulders off and you know
We say things that we don’t mean And that’s the way love works out sometimes He trippin—she trippin—and we both be trippin man Cause that’s the way love works out sometimes Cause when its on its and you’re no longer stressing And life teaches a lesson That love is still a blessing Cause when it’s all said and done we’re back at square one And that’s the way love works out sometimes
You don’t believe it until you see it How much you need somebody (need somebody) And you’ll never know how far you’ll go When you love somebody (love somebody)
How much you need somebody (need somebody) When you love somebody (love somebody)

I don't like having "Trippin" in the Parenthesis. I almost like this as much as "Please" now.

Funny, how a title change can make more people respond better to this song. With Toni she is kinda on the fence with me right now. I like parts of what she is doing in general for this album, and then other parts I am hating.

I think Tony is going to start out with a high debut on the album charts and that's going to translate into radio airplay later on in the life of the project say second and/or third single.

This song kind of reminds me of Erykah Badu's "Danger" Reasons: 1. Both talk about how real love isn't easy, but it lasts* 2. Both have sirens 3. Both songs fade off into heavy instrumentals at the end.
*Erykah's is a specific story about her boyfriend being in and getting out of jail, while Toni's is more general

Honestly, Toni fans need to do a requesting campaign like us Mariah fans did. DJ's even tho they jumped on "it's like that' a lot of them were hesitant.. and we requested crazy and it ended up top 20 because of it.. however we went overboard and a lot of people took them off their playlists b/c of it so it didnt get to prosper to its potential.. so i say you do a requesting campaign to get it played for the first month or two.

Mariah fans did requesting campaigns during her entire flop period and the DJ's just got annoyed. Requests don't do shit if they don't want to play the song to begin with.

Toni needs some type of hype generated for her. Her label should be getting her more magazine covers, interviews, television spots and all of that stuff that make people interested in an project. It also wouldnt help if they got some critics on their side to start hyping up the album early. Alot of people listen to critics and that show album ssell from word of mouth, even without a huge single. It wouldnt hurt if they branded this album something that would really make peoples head turn. Something like "The Real R&B album of the year", or "Classic r&b is back" or something like that, since Toni does have 2 of the best r&b albums of the 90's people already associate her with good r&b music (i know many of u feel she has slacked off lately). If this is her "comeback" they have to make people think its really a return to original form. Even if it isnt true, it would at least show that they are confident in the material she is releasing and alot of consumers believe what they are told, if they hear it enough. And if the label hypes up the album has Toni releasing some real r&b, the press can also report it in the same light. Simple things like that can affect the way people percieve a project.

I like this one too. I just don't see it doing much. She's having Brandy's problem where no one seems to care.

At least brandy was able to hit top 20 with her 1st single at Urban, or maybe even top 10. I hope Toni can crack top 30 with this one!

Mariah fans did requesting campaigns during her entire flop period and the DJ's just got annoyed. Requests don't do s**t if they don't want to play the song to begin with. That's true.. esp. with songs like "Cant take that away" but I think a healthy amount of requesting and only in your area would help. Toni fans.. do they even exist anymore? I mean i love her.. I have her first two albums.. but her fan base has gotten smaller. Even in Mariah's flop days.. she had MANY fans hence why Glitter sold 600,000 copies lol.
