She looks funny dressed as a mermaid and in a wheelchair. Well, I was hoping the next single would be MTN but You and I better smash!

So disappointed if it's You & I. Same here. While I don't think she really has any surefire hits remaining, I certainly don't find releasing "You & I" next to be a smart move. It's my favorite of her piano-driven pop/rok ballads but I don't see it appealing to the folks longing for a return to form from her. Gaga and her label really need to breath some more life into this era with a great banger. Honestly, the way this era has unfolded has been very puzzling. It seems like too many questionable decisions particularly the lifeless TEOG video which I genuinely feel sucked the air out of that song's trajectory.

I've been skipping You & I when it comes on lately, but if the video is amazing then I can start liking it again.

I think it's very smart for Gaga to not "return to form". The electropop fad has peaked, and with Adele running away with 2011 album sales, it's going to start decreasing in prominence. Gaga needs to be ahead of the curve and start getting people assimilated to a different side of her rather than waiting until electropop is really going downhill and then making a drastic switch in her style.

I wonder what she'll release after Yoü and I. hm. I suppose Hair could work and she'd release an acoustic/piano version or something.

It'd be fine if she released You & I as a future single or to end the era, so that she can have two successful AC songs this era. She needs a change of pace after TEOG, like a banger such as Scheisse or Marry The Night. Hair should also be released at some point.

The video for the new single is being shot. I'm honestly shocked that word of it hasn't leaked yet.

From the front page of Yahoo: Lady Gaga Egged Over Wheelchair StuntPosted Fri Jul 15, 2011 9:22am PDT Matthew Perpetua The Rolling Stone Blog A group of angry fans threw eggs at Lady Gaga in response to her recent appearance on stage in Sydney, Australia rolling around in a wheelchair. Though the throwers missed Gaga herself, a few eggs hit members of her entourage. It is unclear why audience members had the eggs in the first place, however. The wheelchair incident occurred at Gaga's concert at the Sydney Town Hall on Wednesday. The singer came out to perform the rock ballad "Yoü and I" while dressed up as her new mermaid alter ego Yuyi. Since her legs were bound in the costume, she was able to move on stage with a wheelchair. The pop queen has previously used wheelchair imagery in her music video for "Paparazzi" and her performance of that song on the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. The egg-tossing fans in Sydney weren't the only ones angered by Gaga's wheelchair-bound performance. Jesse Billauer, the founder of the quadriplegic advocacy group Life Rolls On, told Radar, "I invite [Gaga] to learn more about the 5.6 million Americans who live with paralysis. They, like me, unfortunately, don't use a wheelchair for shock value." new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/rs_sotd/5878/lady-gaga-egged-over-wheelchair-stunt/

Well, I'm pretty sure she's going to give a hefty donation to their cause or something to that effect now.

That is so ridiculous that people are getting mad at her because she performed in a wheelchair. I'd like to see her give money to people who break people's legs so they're forced into wheelchairs just to stick it to these dumbasses who waste their life complaining about irrelevant shit.

The people who attempted to egg Gaga but ended up hitting passerby's and someone on her security team- did not do so based upon her pulling a B. Midler. The same group of people also attempted to egg Justin Bieber in the past. I mean really, its not as if these losers knew what Gaga had in store for her mini concert. Also as the article mentioned, Gaga has used such imagery in her Paparazzi video. Perhaps if Jesse Billauer had got all tied in knots then as oppose to now I would take his comment serious rather than yet another person seeking attention for their organization.

I'd like to see her give money to people who break people's legs so they're forced into wheelchairs just to stick it to these dumbasses who waste their life complaining about irrelevant s**t. :o While I am fortunately not disabled or wheelchair-bound, if I were to attempt to put myself into the shoes of someone that is (even though I will never truly be able to do that), I can understand how a pop-star using a wheelchair-bound status as a "shock prop" could be felt as disrespectful by that group of people. Can you not see that perspective at all ? What I do not codone is violence or disruptive behaviour of fans, such as the egging her or her performers. If people have a problem with her, don't go to her show, protest, create an online petition or open letter, etc. The egging at a concert is far more ignorant than Gaga's wheelchair use, IMO. ETA: She or her security should have kicked those punks out of her show if they could be identified, because they attempted to emotionally or physically hurt Gaga and make the show an unpleasant one for the attendees that worked hard for....

I would think that her performing in a wheelchair is, in a way, making it look *cooler*, if you know what I mean. Using it as an art-form or some sort of a fashion accessory, maybe she could do for the wheelchair what people have long done for eyeglasses?

Mostly. But when I think about it, wheelchairs serve the same purpose as eyeglasses and hearing aids. I know people that wear eyeglasses (not sunglasses) for fashion purposes and doesn't Morrissey wear hearing aids without actually needing them? I think the whole idea is silly. It's not like GaGa is going around in a wheelchair. She's using it as a prop. I'm sure others have used crutches as props, among other items. It seems to me like the people complaining are trying to play victim to this by taking offense to it. By getting angry over it, to me, it's like they're trying to make it a point that they have a disability that shouldn't be made fun of...which I seriously doubt is her intention in the first place. I just thinking making an issue out of this separates people that use wheelchairs from those that don't. It isn't helping anyone or anything.

Uhm. They didn't egg her because of her performing in the wheelchair. The media will put two and two together these days.
