Sounds like one heck of a video, which should help propel this song even faster up to #1.

Man, I think this might be my favorite Lambert song yet! Close w/ House That Built Me but this is just catchy, and comical lyrics, different from many songs out there now.

Only Prettier is a fun song, but one song on that album that I can't believe not many people are talking about is "Heart Like Mine"...that song is so well written and fun! Oh and definitely Me and Your Cigarettes too. I really hope one of those two get released soon..I'd love to hear those on radio and see the kinda impact they'd have :)

I think it's refreshing that a 'Country-Country' artist is doing well on radio, proving that Country music can still be Country without straying too far into Pop territory. I feel as though the whole 'Pop-Country' phase of radio is becoming stale and tired, so it's good to see artists such as Miranda taking a step forward with Country music rather than a step back. It's important that different songs, such as 'Only Prettier' be embraced. So I hope this song does well for Miranda and judging from her success for this era, I don't think she'll have a problem getting her second number 1.

I think "Heart Like Mine" should be released as the fifth single, and then she can move on to her fourth album.

Can't wait for the newest single from the queen of country! Boy, people sure love to throw that term around, huh? Yes, Miranda's great, but she's nowhere near the level to be able to be called the queen of country. I do agree with you that I wish it were Carrie and Reba in the video though. If Carrie hadn't been on tour when the video shot, I'm sure she would have loved to hang out with Ran for the day.

Yeah, Miranda's great but I'd hardly call someone who just landed their first #1 hit, the 'queen of country'
In my opinion, that title belongs to Dolly Parton

This will be such a smash. The lyrics are so fun and clever. The hook is instant and sticks in your head for days. Easy top five, possibly a number one, depending on the competition.

However, the It girl right now is definitely Miranda! I agree with kt that it is refreshing to see the return of "country-country" music. My question is, how will it affect the sales/radio play of the Flatts, Taylor, Carrie, Urban, etc....? Carrie, while always a country-pop artist, definitely puts the priority on "country" before "pop" (examples: DFTRM, ITYS, TH). Thus I feel she will have no problem (and actually might embrace) adjusting to a more "country-country" style of music. As for as the others...time will be the judge of that.

I think its likely we won't see the finished product for a good month or so... after all, the single has yet to be released, and usually the music video comes out after the single does

I love the direction she's taking with the video. From the stills, this could turn out fabulous.

The music video was shot in Joelton, TN, and features Lambert and friends portraying rival cliques at a high school sock hop
Also, it was recently announced that this song was officially sent to radio on June 21st

I've come around to this as a single and even enjoy it from time to time, but the production of Miranda's voice (the heavy reverb and processing in particular) and the overall loudness of the track really drives me nuts. I really don't see any justification for making Miranda sound as if she is singing from inside a cave. I do appreciate, though, that there is occasional personality to the instrumentation within the wall of sound (Mark Bright, please take note).
As for the lyrics, I wanted them to be more consistently clever and occasionally feel like they lack flow from one line to another (mostly in the verses; "We don't have to like each other but it's sure fun to pretend" starts awkwardly, for example). Thanks to the popularity of the "frenemy"/Mean Girls tropes in pop culture these days, the song feels topical, albeit not particularly fresh. As others in this thread have already said, it seems like a slam dunk to top the country charts thanks to Miranda's momentum, the catchiness of the track and the likely resonance of the song's lyrics.

I've heard a lot worse, but this does go with the trend toward women making themselves into girls. Other than Reba, who doesn't follow trends if she doesn't want to, and Martina the Self-Help Guru, there seems to be no country woman who can both get airplay and act like she's 30 or older. Jennifer Nettles, I suppose -- we'll see what the new album sounds like.
Frenemy tropes? Those are nasty when they get infected. I had mine removed along with my tonsils many years ago. Anyway I have no objection to the occasional song about the perspective of a teenager, or recent teenager; I just don't want that to be the only female presence. Miranda is interesting to me as a grown-up, much less so as a frenemizer.

The music video was shot in Joelton, TN, and features Lambert and friends portraying rival cliques at a high school sock hop Yes , my brother had to fix the A/C so they could film the video there. As that particular school building has been closed for several years now. I've come around to this as a single and even enjoy it from time to time, but the production of Miranda's voice (the heavy reverb and processing in particular) and the overall loudness of the track really drives me nuts. I do appreciate, though, that there is occasional personality to the instrumentation within the wall of sound (Mark Bright, please take note). I totally agree about the production. Its horrible. All the reverb on her voice isn't doing her any favors in my opinion either. And not just this single , but the majority of Revolution as a whole. Theres plenty of decent to great songs on it , but there buried behind a nasty sounding production thats trying to hard to be "edgy". I'll be pulling for this because it's different, but I also hope this isn't a sound that she'll pursue in the future.

Personally I think the production is great, her producers are definitely some of the best in the business, and they've made 3 great albums for her over the years... can't wait to see what they'll turn out for the new Kellie Pickler record

I've heard a lot worse, but this does go with the trend toward women making themselves into girls. I agree with this. I can't get into this one at all, but I'm sure it will still be a big hit. This is a far cry from "Dead Flowers" or "The House That Built Me". I really don't see what's clever about this song, and I don't care for the production either. I don't have the album but I've heard snippets of other songs, and I would've gone with something different for the follow-up to THTBM. However, I will admit that I'm a bit excited for the video, as it sounds more interesting and star-studded than most. One other subject to address here: I noticed this song was close to 370k in total audience on the BCU yesterday, but that was with only 4 total stations playing the song. The adds date isn't for a month yet, but from what I understand the song is already at radio, so I think it could easily be the hot shot debut next week.

So she's singing this to another girl? I thought she was singing it to a guy.
On a side note...do you all think Kellie and everyone else did Miranda's video for free, or did they get paid?

I'm kinding hoping it gets the distinction of being her biggest chart debut; her previous best I believe was "Me and Charlie Talking" entering at #48 It could very well challenge that, but debuts are a very tough thing to figure out. It wouldn't take much for an artist as redhot as Miranda to gain over a million with this song, but again, it depends if the radio stations add it. Let's say she does gain a million though...on top of what she already has, her total audience could approach 1.5 million. That'd easily put her into the mid-40's, perhaps close to where Darius debuted this week. Or, maybe Miranda gets a ton of stations to jump on her and surprises some people, debuting really high, like maybe the lower 40's? Or maybe only a couple stations add her and she sneaks on in the low 50's. It's tough to say at this point in the week. I do expect her to debut, however, and more than likely lead the crop of new songs to the top 60.
