And may be, sometimes we take it way too seriously. I think everyone's reached an agreement here.

I thought I replied to that, but looks like I forgot. My bad. By the way Martin Tungevaag did the same with " Wicked Wonderland". The song is completely performed by a female singer from beginning to end. But who is that female singer. Well nobody knows. It's just an anonymous voice. In fact, Martin Tungevaag pulled an Avicii on us I guess. Already a chart topper in Austria and a Top 20 hit in some European countries, "Wicked Wonderland" by Norwegian producer Martin Tungevaag will be pushed on the US dance radios too so far. It features uncredited vocals from Serena West. And you already know (and if someone else want to as well) who sings on "Wicked Wonderland".

Yes Juan Carlos. It is by Serena West. And I do know it. I quoted her name in my answer and I highlighted it... just to mention her. But does the listener know? Do the charts name her? Answer is no. It's just Mr. Martin Tungevaag getting all the fame. Incidentally there was a great confusion about this as well from the beginning. The name of Anna Anthun for example came up for credits and many quoted she was behind Wicked Wonderland vocals which is somewhat plausible. Here is the quotation and from non other than NRK channel MP3: www.nrk.no/mp3/2014/04/det-er-helt-sykt/Translation: "Anna Anthun and the rest of the group from Wicked Wonderland 2014 won the victory for MP3 award. Hear the song and how it sounded when Anna won. A tired Anna Anthun woke at 11 today, when Heidi from our MP3 channel called her to tell that her bus has won at the MP3s award. After tens of thousands of votes from across the country were counted the group from Nordahl Grieg VGS and Bergen VGS Fana came top with over 35 percent of the vote. "Are you kidding?! This is totally sick! You have made my day, I am shaking!" Anna said. Both shock and joy for Anna who is looking forward to rolling around in school - with 'her' song on the radio - and that promise that the group will be celebrating with a proper party tonight." You can see the group who won and the Wicked Wonderland bus they painted on top of that page. They also interviewed her and put parts of the song during the interview. That's the NRK quotation which is the official broadcaster in Norway called Norsk Rikskringkasting or the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. So when you see this quote, you assume, yeh Anna Anthun sang it, wouldn't you? Well the story is more interesting. This is a very Norwegian thing actually, a Norwegian school tradition. A bunch of kids, mostly graduating class from various schools get together in a group project and they rent or buy a bus. They then name this bus by a popular name they choose. In this case Ann Anthun's student group named their bus Wicked Wonderland. What the groups do is to spray paint the bus on the outside, decorate it inside, they get matching sweaters and jackets and T shirts, and they borrow a certain popular tune (in this case it was a production of "Wicked Wonderland") to represent their bus. Usually it is just music to make their life easier. And they shoot a video presentation of the whole thing. This enters a sort of a national contest. Each member on the bus project has a different role. There's a bus leader, there's an assistant bus leader, a music leader, a clothing leader, an interior design leader, an exterior design leader, decor, story line, video shooting, production, promotion, casting etc... Get the picture? Anna Anthum, was the head of this Wicked Wonderland bus school project in this countrywide competition. There are hundreds who go into this. But the actual singing for the group was by the music leader in this case Serena West also from the school group. They won the NRK contest, Tungevaag loved their work and released it. I am sure Serena Ward did get credits inside the release, I mean Martin Tungevaag wouldn't dare ignore her... and I'm pretty sure some monetary compensation was given to Serena for being the vocalist when the song suddenly became hugely famous almost everywhere. But getting back to the due credit principle we were arguing about, the fact of the matter is everybody says "Wicked Wonderland by Martin Tungevaag". They are not saying "Wicked Wonderland by Martin Tungevaag featuring Serena Ward".... I am just smiling broadly Juan because the other vocalist we were arguing about was also a Serena, namely Serena Ryder in The Trews song "In The Morning"... What's with Serenas as featured vocalists LOL This is karma. A third Serena will be featured somewhere else and come to haunt us LOL Anyways, back to the matter. Wouldn't this be solved if Martin Tungevaag had said "Martin Tungevaag - Wicked Wonderland featuring Serena West", end of argument, end of the anonimity and end of semblance of ignoring an artist's majour contribution to the song. Yes, it does bother me. Why the omission. From the events I told you, she seems an ordinary high school girl and not an established artist. But why not get due credits and real fame alongside Martin Tungevaag? I mean what's wrong to quote a vocalist who sings the song for you from A to Z. That's the argument. Let DJs put credit where credit is due I don't want to do this my 'cause celebre', but crediting people for what they do is important, particularly in case of DJs and music producers when they launch a majour song and fail to mention or intentionally omit naming the singer.

The DJs pay off the people to take sole credit, so I don't feel sorry for them not do I feel like they "need" to give them credit.

But still they have a choice to pay them AND to credit them instead of taking sole credit as you say. Wouldn't that be better? Take Afrojack for example when he launched "Ten Feet Tall" featuring Wrabel

Of course that would be ideal! But I won't pity the artist because they made an agreement not to be credited, and then therefore do not deserve credit.

But I love 1wxrld and additionally, I think this is an interesting discussion - albeit with WAY too much rambling.
The artists still get credited in the songs they aren't labeled for. Receiving credit happens in more ways than the basic ones we see. There are ghostwriters in music, just like other professions, and I'm sure there are ghost performers as well. And for those ghost-artists who turn heads for their contributions, anyone wanting to work with them can still find them easily enough. Sometimes it serves as a foot in the door to not receive official credit on a track.

Tami Neilson chosen this week originates from Canada although it seems she is now established in New Zealand. What a great singer and what a classy song. This is the fourth time I am listening to this, and it has grown up on me. Neilsen does come from a very artistic family and she was part of the Nielsen Family singers.
This makes a remarkable fifth song of Canadian artists we have chosen in 13 picks we have made. Canadians must be doing some right. The Canadian artists we have picked are:
*Week 1 Alvvays - "Archie, Marry Me" *Week 3 Lindi Ortega - "Lived and Died Alone" *Week 5 Kandle - "Not Up to Me" *Week 10 The Trews - "In the Morning" *Week 13 Tami Neilson - "Walk (Back to Your Arms)"

Week 14 - February 8, 2015 Amor Kismet - "Radar"Amor Kismet is ready to see where fate takes them in the next step of their musical journey… This track was brought to you by Kurt. Apologies for the delay folks I was working all weekend. :([/quote] Great choice! The group's manager asked me to review the song on my blog and I did it last night. The other songs on their EP are such earworms. Their sound is very 90s.
