Some people seem to crap on Bionic constantly. But is it really that bad of an album? Because if perhaps, say Rihanna, had recorded Bionic, I'm guessing people would have a completely different opinion on it. Or even Britney.

I actually do think it's pretty terrible. Not Myself Tonight grew on me a bit, but I still don't really play the song ever. The ballads are lovely, and I Am is a career standout as far as I'm concerned. But everything else feels at once so forced and calculated and a simultaneous complete misfire. I remember actually being shocked at the quality of the up-tempos, or lack thereof. WooHoo, I Hate Boys, etc. are an embarrassment.

I think the Sia songs were the best. The rest were pretty unforgettable.

It feels like a mishmash of 2 or 3 different albums. I liked the album overall although it doesn't compare to the brilliant Stripped or Back To Basics for me. I liked some of the uptempos like "Vanity", "Woohoo" and "Desnudate", plus some of the others like "Sex For Breakfast", and of course, the downtempos. I liked the deluxe edition tracks such as "Birds Of Prey" and "Bobblehead". There are some songs I do skip though.
It's not nearly as terrible as it is regarded here, but it isn't good either.

While I'm sure there are many with wonderfully in-depth opinions as well as the equally vapid when discussing the quality of Bionic, I'm fairly certain the entire thread can be summed up by one word:
Yes.

Nope. I love it.
Pick any 12 tracks at random and it's >>> Teenage Dream.

Hardly.
I still listen to it on occasion and it's pretty decent electronic music. I just don't think it's suited for mainstream (especially compared to Christina's earlier work) and therefore is a flop. Some songs could've been better and Christina's voice could've been put to better use, but it's not "truly terrible".

It isn't terrible since there are some good songs on it, like most of the ballads, but it fails to make the mark of a memorable album. I hope Christina tries harder for her next album.

Birds Of Prey shits all over any mainstream song released this year.. So nah Bionic is a good album.

There are some elements of quality and artistic development but overall it just screams "I'm desperately trying to do what's in right now".

Nope.
There are amazing tracks on it but it was a couple of tracks too long. I don't feel the interludes were necessary at all.

I don't feel the interludes were necessary at all. Yes yes. I would say the interludes and "My Gurlz" were the only things tr00ly atrocious.

The material itself feels dysfunctional. There are a few tracks I occassionally listen to; however, as a whole it's pretty terrible.

You Lost Me is a good song. I don't think the album as a whole is that good, though.
Actually, I think Not Myself Tonight is very similar to Only Girl in the World, musically. Although OG hasn't received very warm reception on Pulse, so I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that blind favoritism is playing that big of a role here.

Yes.
Although I did love 'Lift Me U' @ the Haiti special. That was amazing. YLM is also a decent ballad. Besides that, everything was truly horrific.

Nope.
It's actually a pretty decent album once you cut the filler out (especially the interludes).

I like about half the songs on the album. Bionic is not nearly as bad as Pulse members make it out to be. Yes, there was a contrived vibe to the album (and short era as a whole), but some genuine moments too.

She should just do a whole album with Sia. You Lost Me is perfection.

As an unbiased listener, who only really familiar with her single(s) over the years, I can say, Bionic is a decent album with some good tracks on it.

No. Loved the album

If Rihanna record this - she would flop too

Yes. It's a bad album. Critics and the general public seem to agree. But it does have it's gems (You lost me is brilliant)and it's not bad enough to ruin her whole career.

I think the problem is people put their expectations of Christina too high. The album itself if just as good if not better than her other albums.
I think the timing of the record was just awful. When Back to Basics came out Christina was the innovator and really had no major competition. Now you have people who want to compare her to GAGA. Even though Christina could wipe the floor with GAGA in any form of entertainment.
If we were fortunate enough for GAGA to not exist people would have thought this album was brilliant. Now people look at GAGA as the one setting the standard. Maybe that same thing will backfire on GAGA when she takes a few year absence and her return album flops.

It's a great album. There are a few crappy songs but the majority of the album is quite amazing.

"Bionic" is an average album with several cringe-worthy moments. Some of the ballads are strong and restrained. But for whatever reason Aguilera and her team decided to juxtapose them with perhaps her most desperate material to date. It was rather obvious upon first listen that the album would not be a success.

"Bionic" was a mess. The songs just didn't cut it. The ballads were powerful but weren't really well written IMO. I still don't know why NMT didn't reach at least Top 10...it was a good POP song (certainly better than most of the songs in the Top 10 today) but otherwise I wasn't seeing much potential besides that single.
