I actually sorta liked "Burn It to the Ground," but another song with the exact same meaning feels slightly tedious to me. Meanwhile, "When We Stand Together" sounds like something Crowded House would release.

I thought it was rather metal-leaning for Nickelback (don't get me wrong, it's still post-grunge and it's lyrically weak). I'm growing out of post-grunge music though, especially given TOAD's latest offerings.

It wasn't really any heavier than "Burn It to the Ground" or "Something in Your Mouth," though. Something like "Never Again" or "Side of a Bullet" carried more substance, for me.

I really do like this. Perfect for a long car ride and at a bar.

Given what it was meant to do (be Burn it To the Ground part deux), this ain't bad. Better than When We Stand Together.

I actually like Nickelback. Really disappointed in this. I like When We Stand Together more.

"Bottoms Up" lacks the sort of stand-out appeal "Burn It To The Ground" did, in my opinion.
I appreciate the rawer production choices, but beyond that I'm a bit surprised "Bottoms Up" lacks the sense of humor the aforementioned hit and "This Afternoon" had, and it also doesn't bolster an undeniable riff.
This almost sounds like the result of them feeling obligated to prove they haven't gone too "soft" among their more traditional fanbase by churning out a medley of distorted, full-throttled, stabbing power chords in studio and coupling it with Kroeger's signature booming vocals..........and on top of that sounding more serious again unlike with all three rock-oriented singles from "Dark Horse", while still being able to sell to sports bar crowds.
It's almost too easy for me to say I prefer this over "Something In Your Mouth", for the simple fact this at least contains no hernia-inducing lyrics. But the Catch:22 here is "Something In Your Mouth" nonetheless also stood out more for its strong riff, rhythmic vocal phrasing and driving drumbeats. Thus, I'm not even sure I can honestly say I prefer this more because I actually feel "Something In Your Mouth" actually strikes me as a more effective single in spite of its lyrical cesspool nature.

Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS Riff wise I'd agree, this song isn't a stand out compared to SIYM. But I think the chorus has 2 or 3 big hooks in it and the song in general is full of catchy bits that make it quite addictive. I for one am thankful there's no skin crawling lyrics. The rest of the album is yet to be determined though.

Both singles aren't too bad. I think "When We Stand Together" is better though.
Michelle Branch's "Everywhere" comes to mind when I hear the beginning of When We Stand Together.

Don't Ever Let It End Sounds like tracks 1, 4, 5 and possibly 7 and 10 will be either rockers or energetic mid-tempos, while tracks 6, 8, 9 and 11 will be lighter, melodic offerings! ;) "Midnight Queen" will probably be this album's "Animals" or "Next Go Round", while "Lullaby" will be this album's "Far Away" or "Never Gonna Be Alone"! ;) Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS

I like the cover a lot. I'm going to be buy this album regardless of tiring themes. I used to love Nickelback. I'm just hoping the album won't let me down the way TOAD's did.

Nickelback even at their most juvenile ("Something In Your Mouth" or "S.E.X") are a cut above TOAD. This album from the titles and the supposedly change of direction for the band, could be a real return to form, but who knows. I liked much of "Dark Horse", but I usually love Nickelback stuff.

^ I agree because I think Chad and the band have a) More experience b) Been together as a band longer c) Two are brothers (half-brothers), so maybe they have a more musical connection with each other than members of TOAD. d) Chad and the band has a lot musical knowledge regarding the music itself and the industry than TOAD do.
Shit like "The Truth Is..." is far worse than "Something In Your Mouth."

Yeah, it's easily the best album cover they've ever had.

Just heard this and "When We Stand Together" for the first time. This has to be one of the worst Nickelback songs I've heard, if not the worst. "WWST" though seems decent. However, I'm sure both will be huge hits only because it's Nickelback.

Here is a lyric video I made for the song. Here's a thought: do you think a music video will be made for this? "Something In Your Mouth" never got one, and that's equivalent to this for this era. "When We Stand Together" is getting a video, so I was just wondering.

Do you mean if a bigger spectrum then strictly rock listens to this song, they may make a video? I'm just wondering, since they made a video for "Burn It to the Ground," but not for "Something In Your Mouth."

Burn It to the Ground got a video because it was apart of the WWE Raw show and Transformers 2 movie. It was arguably the most popular song of "Dark Horse" in terms of longevity.
