Cassie has a 100-page thread here. Being talked about does not make you a legend. In fact there's probably a correlation between things going wrong for you and bring talked about.

I honestly don't understand that argument. She still captures people's interest. Not only here in Pulse, but in many other forums

Even in her flop career, she's still relevant enough for people to talk about. End. By that logic, Milli Vanilli are legends too. It doesn't work.

She's not even a legend for me as a fan. But generally, she's still relevant and popular even with her flop career.

...so, to recap:
-Christina is not a legend nor an icon -Christina is known for having a good voice -Christina, in spite of an uptick from her brief MLJ feature, is far from the peak of her career -Christina could score some hits with the right material
Do we still need this thread? ...did we ever?

I find it funny that in 6 pages, we still haven't answered the question posed in the thread, nor do I think anyone really attempted to short of the first few posts. All we've got to show for it is a clusterfuck of nonsense concerning a pop star well past her prime.
The idea of a Cultural Rank, as it's already been noted, isn't something that can be properly defined, at least not by anyone here. We have come to a general conclusion on what could be used as possible factors in the sister thread, however. That in mind, no, we really didn't need this thread at all.

So now that a year has passed since this question was first asked, has anything changed?

The only people discussing her cultural rank is confined to music boards, i think the rest of the public have already spoken regarding where she ranks.

She is going to have another flop on her hands. She probably won't tour in huge venues either.

I think he was confused with that Teairra Marí girl(and side note, David was banned?) Xtine is still falling deeper and deeper into irrelevance in the music biz. Thank God she has The Voice.

Girl please. This is a MUSIC FORUM. We still talk about the likes of Ashanti, Teena Marie, Blu Cantrell, Khia and Toya. Teena Marie? Chile you must be confused. I die a little inside when people refer to Teena Marie as a "has been". While she never was a huge mainstream star, she did quite well in her time. She has a new posthumous record coming out that is shaping up to be up there with her best. She could be considered a legend. Many new singers cite her as an influence and inspiration. Blu Cantrell? More like Blu Can'tSell #got2bereal Poor Blu had to sell her old shoes, weaves, wigs, half used perfumes on eBay over the summer to pay her bills. I swear it all went Pete Tong when she sang about her 'chacha' on "The Chacha" back in 2005. I think those golden shorts she wore in the video were put on sale on eBay too. The only people discussing her cultural rank is confined to music boards, i think the rest of the public have already spoken regarding where she ranks. They talk about it on TV. The ladies of The View and The Talk were talking about it. And some of us on my Facebook page and wall discussed it too.

I think she still has a cultural impact but not a huge one on raido. I always thought she had the best booking agent or manager. She always gets high profile performing gigs, magazine covers and obviously "The Voice" without even having a hit out. She brings media attention so she's still relevant in my opinion.

A year later, this is still irrelevant, I think.
1) Mediocre radio impact.
2) Her agent or manager and his/her "looks" have little to nothing to do with Christina's cultural rank, or lack thereof.
3) She gets those "performing gigs" and "magazine covers" BECAUSE of The Voice, at least now that's the case for the most part.
4) Most of the media attention I've seen from her is because of The Voice, her screw-ups, or blood dripping down her legs.

She's still an exceptional singer, and easily among the top five or six of the previous decade.

Once again... But generally, she's still relevant and popular even with her flop career. Even more popular than others who have better career
