All of BTW + bonus songs, her singles, Speechless, Dance In The Dark, Monster, and some others. Boys Boys Boys would be preferable.

I believe 8 million shipped and sometimes those places call shipped cds "sales" because shipped and sold all count as sales for a record label. So, for a record label/the business it is 8 million sold, but we use a slightly different terminology where a sale to us means someone walking out of a store or downloading on Itunes. I am hoping it can stretch to 9-10 million shipped for us sold for the label by the end of the run ^_^

Nice! What was #1? Any other BTW singles on the list? Full List: 25. Ke$ha, "Blow" 24. Times New Viking, "Ever Falling In Love" 23. St. Vincent, "Cruel" 22. Bon Iver, "Holocene" 21. Lykke Li, "Sadness Is a Blessing" 20. Living Sisters, "How Are You Doing?" 19. Twin Sister, "Kimmi in a Rice Field" 18. Friendly Fires, "Hurting" 17. BeyoncΓ©, "Countdown" 16. Das Racist, "Michael Jackson" 15. Robyn, "Call Your Girlfriend" 14. Cults, "Go Outside"13. Battles featuring Matias Aguayo, "Ice Cream" 13. Battles featuring Matias Aguayo, "Ice Cream 12. BeyoncΓ©, "Run the World (Girls)" 11. Destroyer, "Kaputt" 10. Gotye featuring Kimbra, "Somebody That I Used to Know" 9. Youth Lagoon, "Montana" 8. Lana Del Rey, "Video Games" :worship2: 7. Manchester Orchestra, "Simple Math" 6. Rihanna, "We Found Love" 5. R.E.M., "ΓBerlin" 4. Battles featuring Gary Numan, "My Machines" 3. Tyler, the Creator, "Yonkers" 2. Lady Gaga, "Born This Way" (Director: Nick Knight). You won't see a more striking visual this year than the first 30 seconds of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," where a sparkly unicorn and hot-pink laser triangles give way to the artist's 21st-century portrayal of Metropolis's Maschinenmensch. Perhaps more impressive, however, is that the video's ensuing shots manage to be just as provocative: glistening kaleidoscope gore, hermaphroditic machine-gun phalluses, black-tie zombies, and a literal human melting pot that plays out like something dreamed up by a gloriously unholy matrimony of Alejandro Jodorowsky, Zack Snyder, and H.R. Giger. KL 1. Is Tropical, "The Greeks" slantmagazine.com/music/feature/the-25-best-music-videos-of-2011/297

And the BTW video was a hot mess to me when I first saw it but I saw it on Fuse the other day again and it was better. Still my least favorite video of the era but it wasn't bad. "Edge Of Glory" got better too.

I do think Born This Way is a brilliant video. Not actually too keen on the intro, but the rest... great.
Didn't realise she had sold over 2m!

MULTI PLATINUM ALBUM! CONGRATULATIONS LADY GAGA, I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU! *throws confetti* This was such a great era for her, hopefully she'll find big success with her tour and continuing success with future singles. If we're lucky she'll be able to move close to another million by the end of the tour.
I'm very interested in hearing that leak on Christmas. I know I won't be disappointed, because it's Gaga. ;)

It's been multi platinum for a while now. It just surpassed the 2 million mark. There's a difference in total shipped (which is what platinum status represents) and sold.

He's not making a random general statement, he's responding to the posts above him. I actually didn't know Born This Way was certified already (or it slipped my mind, not sure) and when I saw Black Jesus post I checked Wikipedia, and now I'm extremely happy. :)

I mean everybody's been referring to this as 8 million sold WW recently and even Rihanna's label now are starting to use shipments in press releases.

What's actually sold is what I like to see. As long as they show that, then I'm fine.

The number shipped is what labels will want to use anyway since it tends to be bigger than the number sold. Well, it almost always is bigger. But that's also only if labels keep up on certifications. If not, the next best guess is the number sold. Plus, there's also the non-soundscan outlets that they like to take into account. If you sell a bunch of CDs through some place that doesn't do Soundscan, that's a bunch of CDs unaccounted for.
