plus the new songs aren't even newly recorded songs, they are from the same TD sessions over a year ago at least. It should count.

Love Katy, but something abt this song strikes me as...lazy. Not feeling it. Will debut at #1 the Hot 100 on sales alone, though.

Damn, I didn't get to listen to that preview :'(. If anyone can PM it or a link where I can listen to it to me, I'd be very much appreciated!

If the rumors are true I seriously doubt the Rihanna/Katy song will ever be released. What rumors?

Nice and smart I think, fresh from the Grammy performance :) She'll most probably perform other song(s) at the ceremony, though.

Let's hope the surprise she's talking about is her and Kelly singing "Part Of Me" together at the Grammy's!

Which is ridiculous, and shady on Billboard's part. Especially, since Usher was able to do the same thing and they consider his stuff from one album even though it's technically from two. Re-releases, at least prominent ones tacking on new potential #1's, weren't nearly as prominent then and weren't really guarantors of high peaks since the digital age hadn't begun. Billboard's just responding to this new trend.

It reminds me of when they changed the rules on Britney and Blackout missed it's chance to debut at #1 because of a rule change a day or two before sales came in, which should've went into affect on the next chart week, and not a current one. Especially, since Usher was able to do the same thing and they consider his stuff from one album even though it's technically from two. If they make it into a new rule, I'm fine with that. But just for one album is dumb.

Never mind, just heard it and I love it, it definitely has potential to be a Top10 hit on the Hot100 and CHR/Pop at least :)
The version I heard on youtube semmed LQ, so I can't wait to listen to it in HQ on Sunday/Monday :)

I quite like the sound of this (and I wouldn't be surprised if it hit #1), but I don't see the point of extending the Teenage Dream era. It's just getting messy now.
edit: just listened to the demo... bit similar to TOTGA isn't it?

i think it sounds more like Teenage Dream.
and the point of extending the era is to break the record release the Dr. Luke singles that didn't make the album before, because they won't be able to use them again. If they're hits, why waste 'em? I'm sure no one is going to be complaining when Katy gets another smash (or 2) under her belt to add to her catalog.

Edit-never mind I was mistaken! TD and TOTGA sound somewhat similar to me and this falls in with them. I think it is mostly a sonic/feel similarity though and is threaded through a lot of the TD era. ET seems like the most different song to me and, oddly enough, that has become my favorite single from this era. I also like acoustic TOTGA too.

I think SFTTR will block it from debuting at #1. (Maybe that's why they're releasing it the week after the Grammy effect week.)

I just re-listened to the demo, and I forgot how good this really is. I think I was just disappointed that they were releasing a song that's been around instead of a new one. Anyway this will slay.

I don't think they needed a re-release to begin with, but new Katy music is always good.

This whole re-release feels lazy as shit. This song has been around for a while already and frankly didn't make the original cut for a reason (rhyming me with...me? really?).

I wonder how different it will be from the demo? I agree they should have just let the project go and either release a stand-alone single or wait until a new album is finished for the Fall. Although they do have a lot of tracks to add for a deluxe edition so I do understand that to a degree. Other than the 3 remixes, the megamix and this song, are there going to be any more new songs for the album? I bet this song will probably not even do as well as The One That Got Away. I feel like a whole new recording would have been a bigger deal.

The general public doesn't know this song has been around for a while, and there are lots of reasons songs don't make albums. That doesn't mean it had anything to do with quality. I mean, look at Gwen's second album, it had some great tracks that were leftovers from L.A.M.B. but that didn't mean that they were left off because they were trash. I still would've went with Hummingbird Heartbeat :/
I think this will go top 10 on the Hot 100, and top 10 on Pop, nowhere near #1 though.

Yeah but unless the song is drastically changed/updated, it really doesn't sound like anything different from the TD singles, as everyone has eluded to already. Not that that makes a difference but I think Katy could experience radio burnout with a song like this where she might not had there been a brand new song that people could make a big deal over because nobody had heard it yet. Of course, maybe I'm biased since I've heard the song before last year so I'm finding it difficult to be excited but maybe radio programmers are peeing themselves with excitement for Monday.

Hmm... never heard this song before. I hope it's good if it's going to be played a lot on the radio. I don't think I'll get this re-release, though. I have 'Teenage Dream' already, and I'm just going to wait for the new album, whenever that comes.

I still would've went with Hummingbird Heartbeat :/ I think everyone knows this by now Even if this gets low radio play like a lot of you say, digital sales should help get it a higher peak, being new music and all. I see it most likely getting a really good peak on pop and the Hot 100.
