I like it better that way, in my opinion, the partial charts are somewhat useless

MDNA bombed because the first 2 singles sucked (as I said from the moment I heard the horrid demo of GMAYL).
She has a few good songs on the album, but no hit singles. I suppose Turn Up the Radio could have done something minor as the first single, but as the 3rd single after 2 flops, probably not.
She needs a radio hit for the next album. It's a shame hardly anyone but fans will hear "Love Spent" or "I'm Addicted" (neither of those would be good singles, but they are good songs).

So an albums chart history as been taken down to just 2 weeks. Why is MDNA a bomb?

So an albums chart history as been taken down to just 2 weeks. Why is MDNA a bomb? Because it is, to date the top selling single-artist new release of 2012 (multi-artist Now 41 is higher) and it needs Adele-like numbers to be considered a success?

Spooky21, butt out. Seriously. No. He shouldn't. Even though I don't agree with everything he's been saying, I think he speaks rationally and logically. When talking about anything, you should be able to look at the situation without either being offended or talking about it from a point of passion. Whether YOU or ANYTHING thinks an album is the best of the year and (so-called) "deserves" to do well isn't what the discussion is about.

I was telling him to butt out because he had to swoop in and throw in his 2 cents about how unreasonable I am - again, even though Linkinpark and I weren't even fighting. I wasn't even making excuses for Madge- I pointed out her sloppy promo strategyand bad first single and im still being treated like a moron on here. I guess Spooky must reeeeeally love talking in the big boy voice so he can "school" me everytime I talk about Madonna, being the reasonable non-instigating cutie pa that he is! But he's so above Stan wars, right, I gotta remember.

That iTunes sale (which affected just one day for this week's chart) did wonders for some of those titles.

So it is an 87% drop
Before panic sets in, it won't continue to drop 87% in week 3. In fact at some point soon, it will stabilize.

Perhaps the SoundScan number will be slightly higher (it was ever-so-slightly higher last week). And hopefully Minaj's album will top 250K with the final SoundScan number, and Wilson Phillips will debut in the top 30.

Wilson Phillips opening isn't bad for a covers album and considering thay have been out of the spotlight since the early 90s Rumor has it, Wilson Phillips next album will be all new material.

Yes- I believe Wilson Phillips' comeback is being documented in the ladies' TV Guide Channel reality show.
The California album peaked at No. 35 on the BB 200; Christmas in Harmony peaked at No. 135.

WOW @ that increase One Direction. That's based on SNL and iCarly? Both of which aired Saturday? Very impressive.
Also great for Adele. Duh. Great to see Jason Aldean and Mumford & Sons continue to move units.

^Through the 4/14 chart, 698,425. Stronger was one of the albums sale-priced at $6.99 on iTunes (Sunday-tomorrow). The sale- in conjunction with Easter- boosted the sales significantly, even with just one day of impact for this week's chart.

Why Madonna's MDNA Should Not Have Been Number 1; Has Record Setting Drop in SalesA week ago, we published an article questioning the methods by which Billboard was calculating sales when it came to Madonna's album MDNA. The magazine counted units that were given away with tickets sold for the singer's tour even though they recently set a new rule that new albums must sell for $3.95 or more to be included in sales totals. In the end, we concluded that the free albums most like wouldn't have made a difference in whether MDNA would have been number 1. We were wrong. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Madonna only sold 179,000 copies of the album through physical and digital retailers with 185,000 given away with tickets. If those free copies had not been counted, the number one album last week would have been Lionel Richie's Tuskegee which sold 199,000 copies. There's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube on this one. Madonna has been credited with the number 1 album last week but the record should come with an asterisk. To make matters worse, MDNA is projected to sell only 46,000 copies in its second week giving it a record breaking drop of 88% according to Forbes magazine. Had those free albums not been counted, the drop would have been perceived as less and the Material Girl would not own this rather dubious distinction. According to sales prognosticators Hits Daily Double, the sales should put Madonna at around 8 or 9 on this week's chart. Richie's Tuskegee, meanwhile, took a much smaller 48% drop with projected sales of 103,000, most likely giving him number 4. Source
