SYA has never been on my radar as a potential single. I think it's a fantastic song, but I'm personally hoping for something a bit countrier for the next single, like DYTAM or WAW.

I am crossing my fingers See You Again won't ever get released as a single. In my opinion, it doesn't really fit on the album. It seems like a song more appropriate for Some Hearts. I know I said this about Blown Away originally, but See You Again has nothing country about it. Everything about it is Pop/AC. Blown Away stood out because of its unique production and incredible storyline. This song does not have that. The production is watered down (not unique) and absolutely not appropriate for country radio (or really any radio format besides AC). I can't believe it's even being considered. I'll be very, very, very (yes, I said "very" three times. Taylor Swift, pay attention to that!) disappointed if it's released. Heck, even Thank God For Hometowns or Nobody Ever Told You would be a better fit for country radio.

Ugh, if SYA got a release, I'd be in heaven. It's too perfect to not see the light of day on radio.
In other news, what's the news with BA's update today?

BA dipped 300k today. I doubt it hangs on. But I am absolutely certain that it would be falling quite a bit more if the label wasn't still working the phones.
Maybe she can hang on to another week at #1 on Mediabase, but I am doubting that now. Lee Brice looks ready to take over, and Luke Bryan is on fire just below him.
I think SYA is a great song. Like I said, it's my favorite only after BA here. And, it was the 4th highest selling track the week of the album release, behind only "Blown Away", "Good Girl", and "Good In Goodbye". However, even though SYA has been one of my personal favorites, I never really wanted it to be released either, as I felt she's got some great 'countrier' songs on the album, such as DYTAM and WAW.
I definitely won't complain if it comes next, though. While it's not really a country-sounding track, it's not nearly as 'heavy' lyrically or production-wise as GG and BA are. The piano intro, gorgeous vocals, and beautiful lyrics would almost certainly resonate well with country radio listeners.

My money is still on "Do You Think About Me" being next – I'd be shocked if they released anything else.
"Two Black Cadillacs" will eventually be a single, but they need a change of pace following "Good Girl" and "Blown Away".

After all, Carrie Underwood was on the charts two years ago with Mama's Song.

I guess they hung up their phones, jhomes87! But the rather large falls, if they continue, does support your theory in them actively supporting the song the entire time it was at its peak.

I guess they hung up their phones, jhomes87! But the rather large falls, if they continue, does support your theory in them actively supporting the song the entire time it was at its peak. Yeah, like I said, a bunch of stations were likely ready to start shaving off its spins here and there, not willing to keep it so high, when they had other top 10 songs still climbing strongly, and tons of new music to choose from. There's only so much a promo team can do. I'm glad they got their 2 weeks, and tried for more...while I like a good variety of #1 songs, we need more 3 & 4 weekers. Most of the time, the labels kinda go along with the general trend at radio...1 or 2 weeks, and then the song drops, and someone else takes their turn. But I think, if you have a strong song--a big hit, that might be the best song on the album, and is selling well--why not go for 3+ weeks at #1? If I were a label, that's what I'd do. And I think Arista wanted that 3rd week and tried, but they're likely scaling back efforts now. You have to look at it from Lee Brice's perspective, too...he's got a big hit, a strong seller, and he's been #2 for two consecutive charts now. All along, I always felt he'd make it to #1. Curb's a terrible label, but the one artist they're having consistent success with right now is Lee. They could've probably waited out Carrie had she gotten a 3rd week, but at the same time, #1 is within their reach now, and Luke Bryan is red hot, so... I noticed that, from the moment Lee's album was released way back in April, "Hard To Love" has been in the top 10 on the country iTunes chart for virtually the entire time. It's gonna be a Platinum hit soon. Lots of people must like it, and I know I do too. Callout scores really show its popularity as well.

I wonder when those 9 new Mediabase stations will kick in. Carrie just might get that 3rd week at #1 on Mediabase with the help of the panel change.

They won't kick in until next week (and I think it's just 7 stations being added, but 2 are being removed, for a net gain of 5). And even then, the change wouldn't help her any more than it would help others, including Lee, would it? I can't really see the logic in that. Any new stations on the panel are gonna definitely be playing lots of current music, so surely each one of those new stations is playing all the top 10 songs, so it should affect each song almost completely the same.

I love SYA, and I've always wanted it to be a single even though I had my doubts since she hasn't performed it. However, I do agree that DYTAM should be the next single.

But haven't we seen stations that had songs in the top ten in high rotation while almost completely ignoring other songs in the top ten. You'd think it would net out over ten stations but I think there's a good possibility that a song or two might be impacted by a position or two.

I *love* See You Again, it's my favorite on the album. Are there rumors about it being a single or are we just speculating? I was bummed she didn't play it in concert other than a few bars of the opening oh-oh-ohs. :/

Anyone think a 3rd week at Billboard is possible? Well when Curb is involved, anything is possible... but it's more likely we get "Blown Away" by this superstorm next week. Shockingly, this will actually happen in a few days, almost exactly as modeled in that image. :o My local stations have been playing "Blown Away" a ton and using it as a segue to talk about the weather...

Looks like Carrie will lose her her #1 title in the last day of tracking week..
What an impressive run for BA. Probably one of Carrie's best charting single to date.

SBP17 is correct; look no farther than KEEY's playlist, where Randy Houser, Kip Moore & Florida-Georgia Line are all in the top ten, with Greg Bates & Thomas Rhett having fallen out of the top ten during the past week.
That's definitely not a playlist from a nationally respected country powerhouse; PD Gregg Swedbetrg promised that at KEEY, 'We're going to make our own hits', and he obviously wasn't joking!!!

I think there's a chance she could hang on to the Mediabase #1 for another week (meaning tomorrow's update), but Lee Brice will probably take it. It's hard to say with the panel change, but I do think Carrie hanging on to #1 is a (small) possibility.

The week ends with Monday's update though, right? The chart is Monday to Sunday, and Sunday's numbers won't be in until Monday morning. I don't think she can stay in front two more days. 14 spins and 400k audience is nothing for Lee Brice to overcome. I know points can be messy, but I just don't see it.

The week ends with Sunday's update for Mediabase. Even with that, chances are slim for Carrie to stay at #1 when the numbers come out tomorrow morning.

Lee took over number one on Mediabase this morning. The thing I noticed, though, is that Blown Away actually still has its bullet at +60. Can't remember when I've seen that before. Seems that usually when a song is done at number one, it has significant losses that week. Is it that unusual or have I just not been paying attention? I'm sure the big losses are coming, they just didn't come this week.

I think that might be a product of the panel change. Every song has an insanely high bullet currently. Part of it is the strength of the song too, but primarily it is the panel change.

You'd think it would net out over ten stations but I think there's a good possibility that a song or two might be impacted by a position or two. Well sure, it's possible, but we were talking about a net gain of 5 stations here, and I didn't see any way that would've made a difference. I mean, Carrie was dropping at a decent rate by Thursday, and Lee was easily projecting to be #1. It was closer with the "points" on Mediabase than I thought it would be (as Lee only hit #1 on MB this morning), so there must be something odd there, because Lee was within 500k on Thursday morning's update, set to overtake Carrie in audience Friday morning before the panel change goofed everything up. I don't really think it helped any song more than another, or at least not to a large extent, if it did at all. I just think Carrie must be getting some more "points" per audience impression somehow, since Lee just took over #1 even though he's now a full 2 million ahead. And mikem: yeah, that's why Carrie still has a bullet--the panel change. More stations are on the panel, so she has more total spins than she did 7 days ago. If you look at Thursday's update, you'll see that BA had a bullet of -143. Without the panel change, she'd most likely be sitting at -350 or -400 or so, which is still a rather soft decline compared to other recent songs. It's definitely more in line with Jason Aldean's first couple of 'drop' weeks with TALR.

Any chance BA ends up on top on fake country chart because WANEGBT sales removed because of complete my album?

Any chance BA ends up on top on fake country chart because WANEGBT sales removed because of complete my album? Taylor's sales for that track will be adjusted downward, but it doesn't affect how it's selling this week. So no, Carrie has no shot at hitting #1 on Hot Country Songs. Because, 1) Taylor's WANEGBT is currently #7 on iTunes, and Carrie is at #25 and 2)WANEGBT has way more airplay on Pop right now than Carrie has on country, and this new chart doesn't count just sales, but also includes airplay from all formats and streaming as well.
