I think what helped was the strategically timed Open House Party stint. I'm sure her being on the show over the weekend meant they played the song a few more times than they normally would, which probably resulted in the bigger update yesterday. Still very strange and obvious manipulation. It's funny, though, because peaking at #10 doesn't mean all that much more than peaking at #11. What? a top 10 is a waaaay better look for a hit. The #11 peak is not so liked, I've been reading articles for years where the #11 is bashed as such a bad luck or timing. Probably Billboard Top 40 newsletter will praise Taylor Swift today for another top 10 hit on Pop Songs. LOL Selena and FOB blocked "22" from top 10 on Billboard Mainstream Top 40. Oops. Typo, actually -61. Pretty big loss and what I was expecting Saturday and Sunday, losing OHP spins, but not today. I wonder if this signals the end?

This song needs to die its embarrassing for her No, it's not. IKR? Taylor is not the kind of singles artist who needs every track to hit #1. If '22' is embarrassing, then the entire Speak Now era would have been an exercise in humiliation. A moderate hit is fine for her. I just wish she could've used the momentum from IKYWT to get a moderate hit for one of the songs that shows the album's variety.

It's embarrassing because it's an immature song.

22 is tailored for POP. It's the third and last of the three songs / singles produced by Max Martin. So it's obviously a front runner for being a POP single. I would have thought that it would continue Taylor's streak and reach the top. Its hook is insane and topic is pure POP food. But anyway, Top 10 on POP and Top 20 on Hot 100 is not shabby at all...
I haven't listened to her album, just selections. Does she have any song other than "Red" that can serve as a 4th POP single at this stage?

I haven't listened to her album, just selections. Does she have any song other than "Red" that can serve as a 4th POP single at this stage? She has other single worthy songs on her album, but "Red" is the best option, in my opinion. Other choices, for pop anyway, include "Treacherous," "Stay Stay Stay," "Holy Ground," "The Lucky One," and "Starlight." "Red" is the best option, in my opinion, because it has the strongest hook out of those options (especially with the "re-e-e-ed" stutter). "Red" is also a crossover hit as it would easily work for both pop and country, which is something she hasn't had this era since "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" brick walled on country once it hit the top twenty. She does also have "Everything Has Changed" and "The Last Time" that could work as pop singles, but they're both very AC oriented and are likely to flop if released. They would make good singles for AC and hot AC only towards the end of the era, though. As far as country goes, after "Red," if it's released next, they definitely have a few options in "All Too Well," "Treacherous," and "Starlight." I know I listed "Treacherous" and "Starlight" for pop, but both could work for both formats, but neither would do as well as "Red."

I thought "Everything Has Changed" was going to be the next pop single? It's already top 50 in Australia and it's on the UK release schedule.

Hmm; this is already over? I honestly expected this to go at least top 5. Oh well; I suppose we'll get the title track that much sooner. I actually don't think EHC is a bad choice for pop. I'd wait until the tail end of summer for that, though, if it were up to me.

If their is a 4th single it should be released in June

OK, I meant the tail end of summer for the fifth pop single (EHC), not fourth (title track).

I really think it's too late for this song. The performance will boost it on iTunes but I highly doubt it will get a boost on radio. It's losing a lot of spins now, almost -200 today.

I never understood why 22 is considered such an "immature" song, when she's literally talking about, well, being 22. It's about being carefree and having a good time. It's as "mature" as most songs that are about nothing but hitting the dance floor or going to the club or going thrift shopping with 20 dollars in your pocket, which, let's face it, are pretty much 90% of what is being played at the moment, the difference is that Taylor Swift has a more clean, girly image and isn't rolling around naked in her music videos and performances, therefore, it's considered bratty rather than clever. While it might not showcase her skills as a songwriter, and while it might not be mature*~*~ at all, the hypocrisy of some calling this immature and going into a different thread in the CHR section and praising the song will always baffle me. I doubt Taylor ever aimed to write a "mature" song, it's meant to be fun and catchy, just like all of the other Pop songs most people here are constantly praising.

This song is basically like going to your favourite restaurant, which usually serves steak, lobster and caviar, and being served chicken nuggets and fries instead of filet mignon. Now, everyone loves them some chicken nuggers, but this is your favourite spot cuz you always get some delicious shit you ain't gonna get anywhere else. But then they started serving fast food. And the first two times you go and get it, you're like... okay, this is a little weird but it's fucking good so I don't care!!
But then you start thinking... hmm, I can just go down the street to get me some fries, I don't have to come all the way out here. There's plenty of spots that make some bomb ass nuggets. But you decide to give it one more try, third time's the charm right? So you go, and this time the nuggets taste like reheated leftovers and the fries are soggy and the whole thing has just lost its appeal. If I wanted this shit, I'd go to McDonalds, you think to yourself.
