I'm glad they're sticking with the obvious singles, I can't wait to watch this smash.

Another smash.
But alas, I am on Taylor overload. I would be completely satisfied if there wasn't another pop single from this album. I'm not sure how much more Slaylorness I can take. :'(

This will be a hit, I think but I wanted "Red" next. Oh well, I hope they release it after this :)

Wow, they're aren't playing around this era!!! I'm glad they're waiting awhile so that "I Knew You Were Trouble" can have a longer chart life and be the #1 song of 2013. I do hope she performs this at the Billboard Awards.

This will be a summer smash and then she can follow with Red for late summer/Fall smash. This era is working out perfectly.

I wonder if this will be sent to country too. lol ouch so you think it's obviously a terrible choice for country? idk...to me, it's not as clearly country-unfriendly as IKYWT...but I guess if country radio snubbed WANEGBT, the same would probably happen to this. I guess this might become a Sasha Fierce-type era for Taylor, where she consistently sends separate singles to separate formats? or maybe, after this and a separate country single, "Red" as single #4 for both formats?

This is the most Pop song on the album imo Wouldn't really work on Country. What they need to do is release Red, it could be a #1 on both.

April 1st is SOOOOOOO far away! This will already be top 20 by that point. Good choice. As long as Red is the follow up!

This song is adorable, but I'm on the fence about it as a single choice.
It's fantastic pop ear candy, but I think audiences want to see Taylor grow up a bit, and this isn't really the way to move forward.
I doubt this will be sent to country radio, especially because they didn't touch WANEGBT or IKYWT. Taylor's singles have been solid, but I think it's best to send some songs to pop and others to country. This song belongs in the former format much more than the latter.
I'm thinking ATW, I Almost Do, or Treacherous, or even The Lucky One will be sent to country radio, but there are more obvious pop standouts than country tracks.
I'll be interested to see how country and pop radio respond to the rest of the singles from "Red," because Taylor is obviously pandering to both sides of the field with this album. I've actually been hoping that renewed pop success will once again push Taylor out of country music and into pop for good, but I still have my doubts. If country radio and the industry continues to embrace her, she won't be leaving the format anytime soon.

Uggggghhh!
All in all, "Red" is actually an interesting pop album laden with emotional depth, and yet two of her three mainstream singles happen to be her two very worst offerings to date (I actually like "I Knew You Were Trouble" because the "dubstep" touch-ups actually complement the tension the song reflects well, and the songwriting doesn't grate my ears the way this and "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" did in their futile attempts at cheekiness).
What I'm gravely concerned about is that, now that we know Swift recently returned to the studio to record as many as five new tracks in light of her break-up with Harry Styles.........this may mean we'll either get a new album from her sooner than initially anticipated, or there will be a re-issue of "Red" consisting of tracks more along the lines of Shellback and Max Martin's sound than the album's more artistic collaborations.
And, of course, this means some of the album's more refreshing, emotionally compelling and yet pop-sensible tracks, like "State of Grace" and "All Too Well", will be shelved.
This is an ill-advised direction for Swift to be taking her career artistically. We already know, according to recent reports, that she has been crying for hours on end because of her realization that her image in the media, and even among a growing number of her fans, has veered away from her strengths as a songwriter and more toward being a serial dater. It has been especially noted that Tina Fey's jokes about her on a recent "Saturday Night Live" skit stung rather deep.
So Swift needs to get her "Swift" together (pun intended! ;) ) and reorient her image to her strengths as a songwriter. She may never be viewed as a role model to many ever again, but she can still be particularly respected and revered as a genuine artist even among those who have no inclination toward listening to her music often. And much of this comes down to fighting for deeper tracks to be minted as singles and not allowing Scott Borchetta to force her to collaborate with Shellback and Max Martin on several tracks because, in his opinion, he didn't hear a single.
"22" does NOT help with this. Yes, it will give her instant returns in the short term. In the long-term, it will do more harm than good for her image.

I've actually been hoping that renewed pop success will once again push Taylor out of country music and into pop for good, but I still have my doubts. If country radio and the industry continues to embrace her, she won't be leaving the format anytime soon. Even though "Begin Again" is holding its own at Country radio, its callout scores there are considerably negative, and the single has also been selling relatively poorly compared to her average standards. I think the looming and sinewing image of Swift being a promiscuous serial dater among many will only hurt her further at that format in the months ahead. Pop listeners are more likely to shrug off those sort of headlines, as it is a youth-centric format. Country listeners are much more family-oriented, even with the shifting demographics in effect, and are more likely to frown upon controversies like this. It's probably, for much the same reason, why LeAnn Rimes has failed to earnestly bounce back with her washed-up, unstable reputation and all, even as her creative and artistic output has only gotten better over time. ^ I work at a country radio station, and we are adding Come Back..Be Here, which was a bonus track Given "Ours" was, itself, a bonus track on "Speak Now" that eventually became the album's sixth single and the album's second #1 for her on country radio, I'd say that is a rather wise decision. I honestly don't think I've ever been so excited for a Taylor Swift single to hit radio (other than her first singles). This is seriously going to SLAY so hard. Following IKYWT's massive success, and its OBVIOUS ear candy approach, this will no doubt hit #1. I'm convinced. Perfect single choice, perfect, perfect, PERFECT.

This will be a summer smash and then she can follow with Red for late summer/Fall smash. This era is working out perfectly. I was a little worried because 22 is more summer than it is spring, but the fact they're waiting until April to release this makes perfect sense. Red can come after and I am sure it will ride the wave of the previous singles success. It'll have a much easier time getting to the top because it isn't as instant or as infectious as the first three singles. It can also be a dual single and they won't have to split Country and Pop releases. They're doing everything right this time around...when it comes to Pop radio anyway.

idk about you but RED while having some country influence, unlike the first 3 singles, is as instant as them. In fact I find it more instant and catchier than 22. I'm glad that they're going with the safer hits first though.

Really like this, but I think it's getting weird that Taylor Swift keeps calling herself a "kid"
