Top 50 on rhythmic!! I think maybe Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are going to replace Bruno and Drake as "kings of rhythmic" lol.

I would have expected this to enter top 50 on pop before rhythmic.. I'm not sure that a song about gay rights has even gotten this high on rhythmic before

I would have expected this to enter top 50 on pop before rhythmic.. I'm not sure that a song about gay rights has even gotten this high on rhythmic before I'm not surprised. CHU appeared on rhythmic first since TS peaked on rhythmic first. Same thing is happening with CHU. I expect this to debut on pop literally any day now. Mock Update:?? ?? MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS Same Love f/Mary Lambert 330 158 172 3.519

I would have expected this to enter top 50 on pop before rhythmic.. I'm not sure that a song about gay rights has even gotten this high on rhythmic before I was kind of thinking the same, but then again, it is a single by one of the most popular hip hop artists right now, it was always going to do well on rhythmic. Rhythmic radio also probably has a younger audience than pop radio I'd imagine. Not sure if it counts but I think Born This Way did fairly well on rhythmic (it and The Edge of Glory were the only ones that got top 50 from that album iirc).

^ Oh Born This Way would definitely count. Time to research that..
ETA: Wow looks like "Born This Way" peaked at #13 on RHY. :O

Any idea what the official radio edit is like? I'm fearing that they might trim off a verse or something awful like that. The stations here play/played the regular album version, except with the first 30 seconds and last ~20-30 seconds trimmed off, and "males who are into other malesgots" censored. Hopefully the US does the same. Strange, my local CHR station that plays this has "males who are into other malesgots" uncensored, must be serious about spreading the message. In fact, my local station has received a lot of praise around here for playing this song, according to listeners.

Finally took the time to listen to this. Very powerful. It would break a lot of barriers if it becomes big.

I heard this twice on one car ride to McDonalds. I heard it once on KIIS and another time on my local Rhythmic station (KGGI). It was #5 on my Rhythmic station's countdown. It's gonna be big!

I expect to see this to debut in the top 50 on Sunday once some songs are made recurrent or purged.

I really like this song and hope it does well. The line "you've loved girls since before pre-K" bothers me, though. Do 3 or 4 year old kids have an attraction to any sex? Isn't that something that manifests itself later in childhood?

I think a lot of people can look back and say they knew, even back then, that something was up. I know I can. I didn't know what it is but looking back, I think it makes sense now. And then some children just happen to be more vocal and open about it.

I remember nothing about 3 or 4, let alone any attractions I had. In looking back at when you were 3 or 4, what do you see or remember about your attractions?

Actually I think I can remember what I liked when I was maybe 4 years old, but hey, I know about my attractions since I was 5 or 6.

Did y'all discuss cute boys at said tea parties? If so, I stand corrected.

AMP 103.3 in Boston has been playing this song for a while. In fact, they have a promo tag for the song where Macklemore states that AMP was the 'first and only' station playing it for a while.
I think the song is catchy, and I like it. However, as for performance on the chart, there is no doubt that many markets will not spin the song or do so in limited (overnight) spins. This includes some big markets too like those in Texas because they do have large (rural and urban) listening area, and they will weigh the audience impact versus spins. That will hurt its overall peak.

FWIW, I distinctly remember being attracted to and wanting to kiss girls when I was 4. But I feel like I may have been a relatively rare case with no latency period. On-Topic: I heard this played for the first time on radio yesterday! I think it may have been AMP 103.3, actually.
