Looks like 2nd round of CMA voting has begun. Capitol already sending "for your consideration" gifts to CMA voters for Little Big Town. I see they're aiming for Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Song of the Year ("Your Side of the Bed"), Video of the Year ("Pontoon"). Carrie's gift package has a nice reminder for EOTY, Album of the Year "Blown Away", Single/Song/Video of the Year "Blown Away". Looks like "Blown Away" the album is officially eligible for CMAs. :) Smart move for Team Carrie to promote "Blown Away" (the single) for Single/Song/Video. Don't think SYA or 2BC are strong enough. Where'd you find this out? Awesome to hear that BA is still eligible for Album and they're actually promoting the single with the highest chances at getting nominated.

I would be beyond stunned if LBT got a nomination for EOTY. Way to think big Capitol.

My Single/Song/Album/Music Event/Music Video Analysis
Single & Song 1. Cruise – Florida Georgia Line 2. Highway Don’t Care – Tim McGraw feat. Taylor Swift and Keith Urban 3. I Drive Your Truck – Lee Brice 4. Drunk on You – Luke Bryan (Single) – Every Storm Runs Out Of Rain – Gary Allan (Song) 5. Merry Go ‘Round – Kasey Musgraves 6. Wagon Wheel – Darius Rucker
Usually not much difference in these categories, I have one song difference. I think it is down to Cruise and Highway Don’t Care for Single, while I think I Drive Your Truck could sneak in their for song.
Other potential nominees are: Better Dig Two - The Band Perry Blown Away - Carrie Underwood Crash My Party – Luke Bryan Boys Round Here – Blake Shelton and Friends Done – The Band Perry Downtown – Lady Antebellum Give It All We Got Tonight – George Strait How Country Feels – Randy Houser If I Didn’t Have You – Thompson Square Like Jesus Does – Eric Church Runnin’ Outta Moonlight – Randy Houser See You Again – Carrie Underwood Sure Be Cool If You Did – Blake Shelton Somebody’s Heartbreak – Hunter Hayes Two Black Cadillacs – Carrie Underwood
Album of the Year Lock 1. Red – Taylor Swift Likely 2. Blown Away – Carrie Underwood 3. Pioneer – The Band Perry 4. Same Trailer, Different Park – Kasey Musgraves One of These: 5a. Based on a True Story – Blake Shelton 5b. Tornado – Little Big Town 6. Set You Free – Gary Allan 7. Night Train – Jason Aldean 8. Golden – Lady Antebellum 9. Two Lanes of Freedom – Tim McGraw 10. Love Is Everything – George Strait 11. Just Feels Good – Thompson Square 12. Uncaged – Zac Brown Band 13. Here’s To The Good Time – Florida Georgia Line 14. How Country Feels – Randy Houser 15. Like A Rose – Ashley Monroe
Not everyone may agree with the sentiment, but I cannot find a scenario where Red does not get nominated. Sure she may not be 100% country anymore, but she sold over a million copies of her album in one week, and is the only album to sell more than 500,000 copies in one week since 2008 and she has done it THREE TIMES. I know sales isn’t everything but that along with good reviews and decent success of the singles makes her a lock to me. I am worried about my other choices, and could see this going way wrong because I don’t see them nominating four female-led albums, but I couldn’t find one to cut so I left it. I find the last spot going to Blake or LBT. Head says Blake, heart said LBT, so I left it like that. I know FGL has a shot, and it is way better than 13th, but I refuse to put it any higher. That album is terrible besides the three singles which have been released, which are pretty bad themselves.
Musical Event of The Year Don’t See This Losing 1. Highway Don’t Care – Tim McGraw feat. Taylor Swift and Keith Urban Other Nominees: 2. Don’t Rush – Kelly Clarkson feat. Vince Gill 3. The Only Way I Know - Jason Aldean with Eric Church and Luke Bryan 4. Bourbon in Kentucky – Dierks Bentley feat. Kacey Musgraves 5. Boys Round Here – Blake Shelton and Friends
Potential Replacement 6. Watch The World End - Trace Adkins feat. Colbie Calliat
I think these are the solid five choices. Not going to put the Nelly monstrosity on here.
Music Video of The Year 1. Highway Don’t Care – Tim McGraw feat. Taylor Swift and Keith Urban 2. Better Dig Two – The Band Perry 3. Merry Go Round – Kacey Musgraves 4. I Drive Your Truck – Lee Brice 5. Blown Away – Carrie Underwood This is such a crap shoot, but this is my best guess on this. These are top single/song options that I feel have the best videos.

Here's to good times is gonna be nominated for album and could most likely win it if they goe based on sales projectors for the year. Florida Georgia line will probably take new artist and duo of the year and they could take single doubt they will be nominated for song but they will most likely be a top contender for musical event and they should be that song was the biggest of the entire year. The only thing that could possibly compete is highway don't care or maybe boys round here celebrity version or possibly only way I know but that's a long shot I like bikers but bourbon in Kentucky has barely any chance of being nominated for anything dierks barely gets nominated when his stuf is hit records let alone when it misses top 40 altogether

If Carrie is nominated for anything other than Female, I'll s**t a brick. IF "Blown Away" is nominated for Album, I will s**t multiple bricks, and if "Blown Away" the single is nominated for anything, I'll s**t a whole freaking house. I just got really excited knowing Carrie's POSSIBLY eligible for Album of the Year - which I do believe she deserves as well. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but this certainly didn't help regarding my hopes! Carrie's team is definitely not skimping out this year, look at this STACKED "for your CMA consideration" package. www.hififusion.com/video/carrieunderwood/cma2013/2/

Yeah, "Feels Like a Rock Star" won Musical Event last year. Not eligible anymore this year. Also, YES at Carrie FYC page. ETA: Another Carrie FYC. Wow...

Gonna sticky this thread to the top, since there's already ample discussion. That's good to see. I'll probably chime in some thoughts here soon but anyway, I think this is a 'big' enough thread to warrant it being sticky-ed to the top of the forum right up through the show.

If the CMA's can disregard the Carrie FYCs then they are not at all reliable or very good at their jobs, I mean it was exhausting to read all those facts. That has to get her nominated.

What about Kelly Clarkson for FVOTY? She's released a country solo and she's been showing up at a number of country festivals including CMA-fest. I wouldn't be surprised. Country has done some pretty wierd stuff in the past re: nominations and wins.

This year she has actually had singles released to country, so i see her returning. I think it depends on if Sara Evans new stuff takes off? Or if JO dee Messina somehow comes back? Or if they decide Sheryl instead of Kelly. The choices are limited, so i think Kelly will return.

I remember when dozens of country females were successful. Its Sad

I remember when dozens of country females were successful. Its Sad Sara Evans was nominated for Female Vocalist at all the awards shows after "A Little Bit Stronger," so I can certainly see that happening again next year if "Slow Me Down" does well. I'm hoping for a Jo Dee Messina comeback as well, but with her being on her own now, I see it being very unlikely she sustains any kind of major success, the kind she'd need to get back on the ballots. I'd love to see Maggie Rose or Kellie Pickler in contention for Female Vocalist, as well, but neither of them stand a chance at getting nominated (at least presently). I'm expecting it to be Miranda, Carrie, Taylor, Kacey, and Kelly Clarkson, though I'd much rather see that fifth spot go to Jana or Sheryl than Kelly.

Interesting. From Blake Shelton's FYC, they're pushing "Mine Would Be You" for Single and Song instead of "Boys 'Round Here"...

And probably not Sheryl as her FYC ads don't even list that. Well neither does Kacey's, but she'll still be nominated. You never know with the CMAs. Jana looks more poised to take the final spot, but either Kelly or Sheryl could easily take it, as well. Kelly's push to Country this year has been more imminent than last year's when she did get nominated, so I have to feel that she'll get the nomination. However, Kelly's yet to see breakthroughs the way both Jana and Sheryl have seen. Crazy to think that this could be the first year that Martina McBride won't be nominated in this category after such a long string of nominations and 4 previous wins. Oh, and speaking of Crow -- her and everyone's favorite, Florida Georgia Line, will be announcing the nominees live on GMA on September 10!

Carrie Underwood was the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year from 2006-2008 and she's won Single of the Year for "Before He Cheats," so I think it's possible that "Blown Away" will be her best chance at regaining her some momentum at the CMAs since then. I'm hopeful that she'll win something for the album, single, or Female Vocalist this year.

From Taste of Country:
Every September, country music fans anxiously await the announcement of the year’s CMA Awards nominees. In 2013, Florida Georgia Line and Sheryl Crow are the lucky artists who get to announce those nominees.
On Sept. 10, FGL and Crow will reveal the final 2013 CMA Award nominees in five categories live from the ‘Good Morning America’ studios in Times Square. The announcement will take place during a 30-minute block of the show starting at 8:30AM ET.
Following the initial announcement, FGL and Crow will head over to Best Buy Theatre at 9:45AM ET — also in Times Square — to announce the finalists in the seven remaining categories.
“We are super excited and honored to announce the nominees for this year’s CMA Awards on ‘Good Morning America’,” Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line shares. “Last year we attended the Awards for the first time and now to be able to make this announcement with Sheryl Crow is beyond anything we could have ever imagined!”
Crow is no stranger to country music’s biggest night. She is a three-time CMA nominee for Musical Event of the Year, thanks to nods for ‘Picture’ with Kid Rock in 2003, ‘Building Bridges’ with Brooks & Dunn and Vince Gill in 2006 and ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’ with Loretta Lynn and Miranda Lambert in 2011.
“I have been honored to have three CMA Award nominations in my career and I can tell you firsthand, the day the nominations come out is something every country artist looks forward to,” Crow admits. “I cannot wait to read the CMA Awards nominations on ‘Good Morning America’ on Sept. 10, the same day my very first country record is released!”
CMA nominees and winners are determined by the votes of 7,000 industry professional members of the Country Music Association. Over the next few months, members will be casting their ballots to determine which nominees take home awards at the main event.
The 2013 CMA Awards will air live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Nov. 6 on ABC.

Am I correct in thinking that if either Carrie or Miranda wins this award one more time, they will tie Reba and Martina for most CMA Female Vocalist wins? If so, this is going to be a huge accomplishment for whichever of them wins!
