-- 41 BILLIE JOE & NORAH REPRISE 18,120 -- FOREVERLY Whoa, not very good for this but maybe it was lost in the Black Friday rush and will sell well for the rest of the year. That surprises me a bit because it seems like the classic non-mainstream major seller. Of course I forgot about it last week and when I remembered while in a music store, I didn't see it displayed anywhere. I wonder if this album could go on to be a big seller anyway?

Also, both careers (Norah's and GD's) have been in decline recently.
Has there been any promo for that album anyway?

Yeah, Billie and Norah haven't really been huge contemporary names in very recent years. Granted, they still have significant fanbases, but I don't think they really overlap.
They released their album at a bad time for such a project. It would have been better to launch it in October and then do promo throughout the remainder of the 4th quarter.

A drop in album sales does not necessarily translate to "A career in decline" (although obviously it could, but many times it does not)

No, and in Norah's case, I enjoyed Little Broken Hearts album a lot more than her previous work. But Green Day has a bit lost it in my books (granted, American Idiot was such a smash AND masterpiece so it was all downhill from there inevitably)
It was stupid to put only Billie Joe and Norah in the cover, though. They're not Madonna or Janet!

This was very much a niche album in which they recreated a previously obscure Everly Brothers album completely the 1958 album Songs Our Daddy Taught Us. This is hardly playing to either fanbase. I can't believe they had high expectations for this little project. I'll check it out though because I'm curious. I doubt this album not selling says too much about either of their careers except they like to broaden and experiment and tinker with music. ETA: Also the reviews describe Billie Joe in here as trying to be a country crooner. That's probably not too appealing to Green Day fans.

I post badrobot's esimates at UKMix and some people had meltdowns. If you don't agree, do your own! It's only 4 weeks. Ha! I love that. Can you send me the link, I don't know that forum? Yeah I figured I'd give it a shot, I could be totally wrong, but I looked at last year's numbers and based my % changes week-to-week on how those albums did, with some adjustment for the fact that the weeks fall on slightly different shopping days.

Fans of older rock bands (like Green Day) I think would be more open minded to a country-ish recording if it were more in like with Johnny Cash or Merle Haggart-brand country. When I first heard of this album's release I immediately though of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' collaborative album which was more in line with Allison's style of music but consisted mainly of covers. That album did very well.

I've been attacked by Adele fans, Taylor Swift fans, Lana Del Rey fans, Pink fans and Michael Buble fans. I'm just looking at the numbers.

Interesting... someone included some drops from last year that were pretty severe post-Black Friday. I had been estimating softer drops due to the reduced shopping period this year.
