5 singles minimum from this era imo. He's gonna ride this album for a while.
3. Cold One 4. Roller Coaster Ride 5. Talladega 6. Broke Record. 7. 1 of Dark Side/Wrecking Ball/A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young
^^ I really think he can succeed with that. "Wrecking Ball" is a huge fan favorite already.

I think he will ride out this era also-it will be interesting to see what singles they choose. Maybe they will save Talladega for next spring/summer per your list instead of this summer... I could see your predictions...except Broke record is so, so for me, even though I don't dislike any song (except the Devil/talking stuff). I'd omit that one (would he really release 7 singles from this one?). I do hope A Man Who was Gonna Die Young sees radio-I agree it is very slow for radio, but they did release Like Jesus Does (although that admittedly has more of a hook) since radio needs more introspective, artistically deep songs like this.

If they do stretch this era out, as phil1996 and rjz have suggested, instead of keeping this as a "novelty album," which is pretty much all it is to me, then I can see "Talladega," "Like a Wrecking Ball," and "Roller Coaster" being released. That would already be five singles, which is as many as they released from the outstanding Chief CD, and I think by that time Eric will be ready to move on to a new record. The only tracks I really enjoy off this album are "Like a Wrecking Ball" and "The Outsiders." Some of the others have interesting themes/lyrics, but they don't particularly sound that pleasant.

I never really got into Eric that much until "Springsteen", and I still have to listen to a lot of his back catalog yet, but I absolutely love this album. I really don't think he's going to be moving on to new music anytime soon and I'm completely fine with that. I love every single song on this album a lot. "Cold One" is a great song and I think it would do well at radio, but I think "Talladega" is the more immediate hit and so I'd rather see that one next and then release "Cold One" a bit later on down the line. I definitely think GMBMH will hit #1, regardless of what the Gilbert song does. I am still really enjoying this one, even though I always seem to miss it on the radio, whereas a lot of the other current top 10 hits I hear all the time. The amount of time I spend listening to the radio isn't very much though, so I've heard this plenty of times coming out of my CD player

I also love this album. I like it better than Chief overall. I don't think it's country at all, but nothing is anymore. I actually could see Eric struggling on radio with any future releases other than "Talladega" and it would not surprise me if that wasn't even a single and some of the other songs that are less radio sure fire hits get released.

Maybe I just need to give the CD a few more listens. I heard the songs the first week the album was released when someone uploaded the songs to YouTube, but UMG blocked the videos a week or so later, and the album isn't available on Spotify, so I haven't been able to give this time to grow on me. Either way, I'm still happy for Eric Church even if this album never does grow on me because he's such a talented and unique artist. I wouldn't mind seeing "Hometown" hit #1, since a lot of much worse stuff has done so recently.

Seeing since Eric Church said he does NOT like recording, I would not be surprised to see his follow up hit shelves in late 2015, early 2016.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's quite a bit later than that. I really think Eric is going to sit on The Outsiders for a while. Early 2016 would only be 2 years between albums.

Gosh I really hope Cold One isn't the next single. I can appreciate it for being funky and kind of fun, but it wore out on me really fast and is probably my least favorite song on the CD. I know Eric mentioned it was his favorite track in the CMT special, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it released.

Pretty solid tune. EC doesn't disappoint. He's one of the few artists that doesn't annoy me when talking about todays Country music.

Dwight Yoakam will be Eric's opening act for the upcoming tour. It was announced in a video sent to choir members (albeit in a cryptic manner) today.
I've long said I think Cold One will the the next single, and after hearing them play it live in their 5 song set in Austin this week, I think it's still likely. Seemed to really please the live crowd.

"Cold One" would make sense, since it's already receiving a fair bit of unsolicited airplay. "Give Me Back My Hometown" still has a lot of room to grow, though. I think it will make at least the top 2, and could still go #1. That will just depend on how long Brantley Gilbert stays at #1, I think.
It's kind of sad that someone like Dwight is now an opening act, but at least he gets to play to bigger crowds at this stage of his career. Still, that has to hurt a bit, I would think.

Obviously none of us can speak for Dwight, but I would think he feels quite honored and excited. I know Neal McCoy is ecstatic to be opening for Blake Shelton. Again, I can't say for sure since I don't know Dwight personally, but I'm quite confident that he understands he has no chance of getting played at mainstream country radio again anymore. He came back to Warner Bros. and crafted a superb album in 3 Pears but they never tried for any radio success and I think we all know why...today's country radio wouldn't play that style anymore. Ironically 3 Pears won Dwight some Americana/bluegrass honors. So my thinking is that Dwight is probably really excited, and I think it's really cool of Eric to pick someone unexpected, rather than some up-and-comer with only a couple big hits so far that a big label is just trying to break through at radio. To me it really shows that Eric respects, appreciates, and admires talented 'veterans' such as Dwight, even though radio no longer plays their new music. Anyway, as for GMBMH, it looks like Brantley may pass it on Billboard this week. He still trails on MB but I'm not sure how much longer Eric's lead can hold.

Dwight will play every show with Eric.
Other openers for select shows include Brothers Osborne, Brandy Clark, and rock band Halestorm.

Talladega is the only other song on the album I would say is a for sure hit song waiting (Also my 2nd favorite on the album). I think it will be the 3rd single released. After that I don't hear anything that will be satisfying and conservative enough for country radio. I personally like Like A Wrecking Ball, but it sounds more like classic rock than country. I don't see Roller Coaster Ride or Cold One either. His name alone might get them top 20, but I can't see them cracking the top 10. It would be amazing though if he released The Joint just to upset all the conservative country stations. I can only imagine the backlash.

"Cold One" is being spun on XM. That doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be the next single, but...

I really hope this can become Eric's 4th #1 hit, 3rd solo #1 hit as he had a #1 with Jason and Luke on Jason Aldean's song "The Only Way I Know". This is probably my favorite song of Eric's and I still am not tired of it. I just love listening to this song on my iPod. Played it 138 times since uploading it back in January!!!! I love the clapping or stomping and the beat of the song and it's message. It is so far my favorite Country Single of 2014. I hope it can make #1 on both Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase.

Almost every song loses some kind of enjoyment due to overplay and this song is no exception, but I wouldn't say I'm sick of it. Perhaps some luster has worn off, but I still really love this song. You know what's funny is the biggest criticism I had of "Give Me Back My Hometown" in the beginning is now the part I enjoy the most with the "Yeah, yeah, ooohhh's". The end of the song is my favorite part.
Funny how drastically your opinion of a song can change in such a short amount of time.

This is one of those songs that doesn't really need to hit #1 to be a success. If this peaked at #2, would anybody besides us on this blog even know or care? Pretty much since the day this was released it had been receiving huge airplay, and already has to be one of the top singles of the year in my opinion. Great story, great singing, great instrumentation, great everything. Springsteen will always be his career changing song in my opinion, but this so far would have to be his next most popular song. I think Talladega has a chance to be just as big as these two.

It also remains to be seen if this will be a successful recurrent once it exits the charts. Heck, I still hold a grudge against "That's What I Love About Sunday" blocking "Baby Girl" from #1 in 2005.

I still doubt they'll get to #1, not on Billboard at least. Brantley's still over 4 million ahead in audience on Mediabase and if he can get as high as Jerrod Niemann did (which he should easily be able to), then he shouldn't start falling until the very end of the week at the earliest. I guess Eric can gain a ton of overnight spins and get to #1 on Mediabase by working the points system since it's easy to unseat an incumbent #1 and hard to get two weeks at #1 on that chart, but Brantley's song is selling so well I think there's no way Valory will just let it go after only getting one week at the summit.

If this has 2 bullets left, I think it can get to #1 by out-racing Thomas Rhett and/or FGL. But if GMBMH is only able to bullet for one more chart, it's starting to look like Eric will fall short, perhaps on both charts.
EMI has "Max Spins Now!!!" ads out in the daily Aircheck emails, but Eric's almost 4 million behind Brantley on both charts, and it's hard to catch someone when they're still gaining, which Brantley is in this case. And the MB points deficit is a pretty steep 1663 points.
I need to see Brantley plateau and Eric put up some monstrous gains (probably at least 700-800k a day) for me to believe this can hit #1 on either chart. The alternatives? Eric could finish the week at #2, but EMI could still push the song next week...or they settle for a #2 peak and begin dropping next week. Right now, I think they'll have to settle for a #2 peak.

"Cold One" would be a great single for Summer. Then "Talladega" would be great for Fall/Winter. And if there is a 5th single "Roller Coaster Ride" would be great for Spring.
I don't care for Eric's attitude at all from his interviews and I don't like any music from his first 2 albums (Other than his "Leave My Willie Alone" bonus track song...lol that's funny). I liked some of "Chief." But this new album is just different. It's different from his other stuff and it's different from any Frat/Bro mess that is on 90% of Country radio. So I like this album after hearing it again. The only complaint about it may have to do with my car stereo, but on "The Joint" he sings so softly I have to jack the volume way up to even understand the words!

Talladega is a pure smash waiting to happen. I think it would be one of his biggest hits, right next to Springsteen.

Hmm...a swing of over 800k and 100 spins vs. Gilbert in today's update. When I made that post last night, I was counting on Gilbert holding steady or even gaining a bit more--he's a full million behind Niemann's MB audience peak--but Gilbert instead dropped 305k today.
The Billboard #1 might still be tough for Eric to get (even though he has an extra day on BB), but he's only 150 spins behind Gilbert on MB right now with 4 more days still to go. Another 2-3 big "swings" like this and he can probably overtake Gilbert for #1 on Mediabase.
Still 5 days to go in the Billboard week...Gilbert is tracking #1 right now but that's not surprising. Still, a 5-day swing of 4 million (800k a day) would make things very close.

I am thinking with today's update with Brantley gaining some spins and audience back but only within by Church by less then 100 spins, I am now thinking that Brantley will easily stay at #1 for a second and final week with "Bottoms up" with Eric taking the Mediabase #1 for "GMBMH" thus peaking at #2 with Thomas Rhett taking #1 on both charts for one week next week. Then it is Florida Georgia Line/Luke at #1 then since they are not too far from Thomas.
