I am thinking with today's update with Brantley gaining some spins and audience back but only within by Church by less then 100 spins, I am now thinking that Brantley will easily stay at #1 for a second and final week with "Bottoms up" with Eric taking the Mediabase #1 for "GMBMH" thus peaking at #2 with Thomas Rhett taking #1 on both charts for one week next week. Then it is Florida Georgia Line/Luke at #1 then since they are not too far from Thomas. At the rate things are going, Church will have the spins lead on Mediabase in tomorrow's update, and I think he can overtake Brantley by the Saturday morning update. But the Billboard #1 is definitely going to be harder to come by. Brantley had a flat update today--up 32 spins but down 10k in audience--but Eric gained another 100 spins and 613k in audience. That's another pretty big swing update, but unfortunately for Eric, he's the one doing all the work. Only yesterday it looked like Brantley might be willing to meet him in the middle at least a little bit, but "Bottoms Up" held its ground today. Again, can't rule out Eric getting to #1 on BB, but it'll be a lot tougher. I think he's got a great chance of getting to #1 on MB, though.

jhomes87, you are right on the money, as of this morning's update, I am thinking Eric's chances of taking #1 on both charts have jumped significantly this morning as he already leads in spins but it's the points that have him still at #2 as of this morning's update on Mediabase. He gained 128 spins today, with a gain of 881k in audience while Brantley lost his bullet today and dropped 88 spins and lost 701k in audience. With the way how this performed today, I am definitely seeing Eric take over #1 tomorrow on Mediabase and Brantley dropping to #2. The question remains, will Eric gain enough or Brantley lose enough for Eric to take over the lead on Billboard to take over #1 for Monday's update? As I type this, Brantley Gilbert is still tracking at #1 on Billboard's Real Time Tracker with "Bottoms Up" but with his update today, he is likely to lose that within the next day or 2.

I agree, his chances of hitting #1 on Billboard look quite good now, I would say. Still 3 days in the BB week, and Eric is only 1.1 million behind Brantley on MB. I expect to see GMBMH at #1 on Mediabase tomorrow, and I'm about 80% certain that Eric will be #1 on Billboard as well. And thank heavens, because I really enjoy this one much, much more than I enjoy most of the other songs in the top 10 right now. There are several that I strongly dislike, including Brantley's, so I'm glad that Eric looks like he's gonna be able to fight his way to #1.

YAY!!! :) ;)
Glad to see Eric now tracking at #1 for Billboard and now #1 on Mediabase, but what happened today??? I see alot of songs dropped down in audience today, did we lose a country station on the panel? Church, Brantley, and Rhett all lost over 2 mil in audience and even further down. I take it was a country station lost.

I take it was a country station lost. Some type of panel change. Most of the top songs seemed to gain spins and lose audience (Eric gained 128 spins but lost 1.5 mill in audience), so I'm guessing that they may have added some smaller-market stations and dropped a few large market stations. Regardless, I'm glad to see that this is looking good for #1 on both Mediabase and Billboard!

Regardless, I'm glad to see that this is looking good for #1 on both Mediabase and Billboard! I feel like we've had this question each of the last couple of years... It's not because of a panel change (although one station in Sacramento was added), it's simply an adjustment of the audience estimates provided by Nielsen. The adjustment is WAY too big to be any sort of major panel change, unless the stations in New York, LA, and Chicago all suddenly left the panel (which obviously didn't happen). Keep in mind that audience numbers are just estimates. They can't know that exactly X million people are hearing a song at any given time. So basically what happened is that the new data came back, and they adjusted the numbers down to the newer and more correct estimates. It happened on March 17, 2012 (only then everybody gained a bunch), and I think it happened sometime last spring as well, but I can't seem to locate that update (and wow, peak MB audiences were around 44 million in March 2012...just further proof that pop radio practices and corporate radio have taken over the charts...) This AllAccess article isn't very specific but it does explain things a bit. Only 1 country station was added, or re-added I should say (KNTY Sacramento). The most important part of the article is at the top, where it says the new data is based off the winter 2013 ratings.

Both panels modify their panels whenever various stations fail to maintain a certain percentage of current music or risk removal if they don't; KNTY returned to the Mediabase panel this week as a result of doing so since it's been a country station since 2006.
Sacramento's newest (and third) country station (KHLX, known locally as B925) barely registers in the ratings, which perhaps explain why the Mediabase panel has been stuck at 148 stations for a few weeks; they're not getting any traction ratings-wise against longtime country powerhouse KNCI as well as KNTY.
Glad to hear that Eric will be #1 at Billboard as well with one of the very best tunes of the year from one of my favorite CDs of 2014; I certainly hope Eric will receive numerous nominations for this fall's CMA Awards, hopefully with some Grammy nominations thrown in leading up to their telecast on Feb. 8th.
He's definitely an 'acquired taste' as the old saying goes, but in the realm of country music, he's had plenty of company in that regard.

Glad to see this hit #1 on both charts this week. Excited for "Cold One" to hit radio now.
