Dreadful song and perfectly in line with this horrible album. I really liked T&Ts so I am very disappointed with the direction he chose with this album, and as stated above, the lyrics of this song are nothing but trash.

However, if you don't like him or his music, then simply don't buy or listen to it. Good idea, but it's difficult to avoid his music, which seems to come on the radio every 5 minutes. Very true. He has arguably the hottest song at radio right now with "Play It Again". A heavy recurrent that just recently left the charts in "Drink A Beer" (which I still hear every day). He also has two songs that both went #1 on Mediabase that are still in regular recurrent rotation in "That's My Kind Of Night" and "Crash My Party" (I actually heard both "Crash My Party" and "Play It Again" on my way home from my family's house this afternoon. Oh, and he also is featured on another current top 10 single with "This Is How We Roll" Luke definitely gets my vote for most unavoidable artist on country radio.

Luke definitely gets my vote for most unavoidable artist on country radio. Yeah, Luke is definitely the most popular country artist right now. Thank goodness for all the radio alternatives that we have these days... Like alternative radio. Loving these posts on this page!

I don't know if anyone else noticed this in the lyrics too, but this really irritates me: "The next Friday night we were sittin' out under the stars You should have seen her smile when I brought out my guitar She was like, oh my God, this is my song I've been listenin' to the radio all night long Sittin' 'round waitin' for it to come on and here it is She was like, come here boy, I wanna dance 'Fore I said a word, she was takin' my hand Spinnin' me around 'til it faded out And she gave me a kiss And she said, play it again, play it again, play it again And I said, play it again, play it again, play it again" Were the writer's not thinking?? If he is playing the song on his guitar for her and she takes his hand to dance with him....who's playing the song? Lol just shows how much "effort" is put into songwriting these days. I think you are overanalyzing the lyrics. It didn't say when I " played my guitar" now did it? The chorus doesn't change so in other words, he was playing along to the radio anyway.

LOL that is really reaching in defending the awful lyrics. No matter what way it was meant, it is sloppy writing at best and pretty much an insult to any writer that takes their craft seriously.

Metaphors and all that. Maybe the song was playing in their heads as they are spinning around and around the headlights of the truck? I actually have no idea, but I really like the song and it sounds great on the radio. I think an argument can surely be made that the lyrics can't compare to I Drive Your Truck or other serious type songs, but I think this has always been the case with songwriting. Would people say Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident) is lazy songwriting? I mean is a guy really at an auction bidding on a woman? Take lyrics for the picture it paints, not as a literal canvas :)

So what you're implying, then, is that the songwriters don't take their craft or their career seriously? Really? The songs that get recorded or put on albums aren't always what songwriters wish would be cut. Most have dozens of songs that they write that they're more fond of but they also are working a job and doing what needs to be done to get cuts, so they write songs that many find bad songs or 'lazy.' But to say or imply that ANY of the writers aren't taking their craft or their profession seriously is worse than any interpretation of a lyric I may have had for this song.

I'm calling it right now. Luke Bryan will be the Country Singles Artist of the Year according to Billboard. He has one #1 in Drink A Beer. I am expecting chart topping status for This Is How We Roll, his duet with Florida Georgia Line and his own Play It Again. He has time to chart another single before 2014 is over.

Very likely a good prediction. I'll also go on record saying Luke will be nominated for the most CMA nominations this year and walk away with nothing.

Big Machine is playing games this week trying to manipulate a split #1 (Rascal Flatts #1 on Mediabase and FGL #1 on Billboard). They pretty much spelled it out in the CA/BB ads.
It'd be so funny if all that manipulation backfires and Luke gets #1 on both charts.

It'd be so funny if all that manipulation backfires and Luke gets #1 on both charts. We're only 1 day into the Billboard week, so I highly doubt that the RTT means much at this point. It simply means that "Play It Again" got a bit more airplay on Monday than "This Is How We Roll" did, but the margin could be very small (we'll never know). I'm quite confident that "This Is How We Roll" will take home the Billboard #1 spot, with "Rewind" taking the Mediabase #1 spot. I then think that FGL will get a 2nd week at #1 on BB + a week at #1 on MB before PIA takes its turn.

Returns to the the Billboard Real Tracker today as #1 tracking today, still too early but still going to be close between Luke/RF/FLG&L for #1 for Monday.

I am now thinking after today's gain and that it's back tracking at #1 on Billboard RTT for tomorrow, I am thinking "Play It Again" will be #1 for this Monday's chart of Billboard, which would probably mean Luke will be #1 for a second week on Billboard while he tries for #1 next week on Mediabase. We now know Rascal Flatts with their song "Rewind" which is #1 on Mediabase will more then likely peak at #2 for Billboard because it is going to fall hard this week with the push it got this past week. What happens to Florida Georgia Line/Luke Bryan with "This Is How We Roll"?? I am thinking they can hold on for a while longer and go for #1 in 2 week's time, or they can shoot for #1 next week with Luke just having one week at the top for Billboard and one week for Mediabase, then FGL/Luke can spend a second week at #1 for Billboard 2 weeks from now and one week for Mediabase as well, before Brett/Miranda/Justin catch up.

^I'm still not convinced that "Play It Again" will be #1 on Billboard tomorrow, despite the RTT. He's slightly behind FGL in Mediabase audience, and about 100 spins behind them as well. I can see "Rewind" having a very ugly update in the morning, now that it's secured the Mediabase #1, and Big Machine can probably get enough of those spins dumped on "This Is How We Roll". I can't imagine that Luke is very far ahead of FGL/Luke on the RTT so a big enough swing in tomorrow's update could give TIHWR the edge.
I'm glad that they're both peaking at the same time, though, because it means that neither will be able to spend a very long time at #1. I do think either song could probably try to wait out the other for another week or two, but it's going to be tough for them to climb higher than 57-58 million or so, which is the new 60-61 million at Mediabase since the audience numbers got adjusted a couple million downwards a couple weeks ago.

Pretty good performance of this at the Billboard Music Awards (Luke also won Best Country Artist). His vocals are almost always really good at awards shows, and tonight is no exception.

And it's not just the vocals. He just oozes charisma. And FUN. Instead of people complaining about how he's ruining country, watch how he performs and engages the crowd...and learn how to do it.

When announcing his performance tonight on the BBMAs, they announced this as his newest number one single or something like that, which made it sound like this was going to be #1 tomorrow.

Honestly I can't even watch his performances. Look, I'm sure Luke is a great guy. I'm just not into the whole tight jeans, shaking your booty on stage when it comes to male country artists. It actually makes me cringe when I watch most of his performances. "Play It Again," while still remaining stereotypical, is one of his better songs of late, but it's still nowhere near what I think he's capable of. He's had a few decent songs over the years (the best being "Do I," IMO), but right now I feel like Luke is just phoning it in for the sales. I think he is capable of making much better music than he currently is, which is disappointing.

"Play It Again" had a huge gain today, so it seems likely to be #1 when the Billboard chart comes out today. I'm hoping that Big Machine will settle for a MB only #1 next week with FGL, and Luke will get another week at #1 on Billboard, but who knows. There aren't really any other songs close to these guys, with Miranda and Brett being 7-8 Million behind them on Mediabase, and then there's another huge gap behind those two. Anyway, I'd be thrilled if "This Is How We Roll" missed #1 on Billboard.

I would be surprised if This Is How We Roll missed the top spot. Republic Nashville is going for history here.

Was contemplating this morning how Luke Bryan was going to go down in the history books for the same feat with his most horrendous album once his 5th single gets there too. Im still hoping he doesn't break the record on a 6th single. Even if it's DRD, I may hope that that one stops climbing at 2. Shame that FGL will be part of the record too. Edit: looking up the album, I noticed TMKON thankfully missed the top on BB. Still a legit threat to tie with RC & DRD. "I See You" may be a contender too?

Specifically they want the Billboard #1, too, because Billboard has been the one mentioning the record every time one of FGL's singles has hit #1. I'd love for "This Is How We Roll" to not hit #1 on either chart, but unfortunately I don't find "Play It Again" to be any better. I hate both songs almost equally, so I really don't care what happens here.
