Still can't believe Demons is rising though.

I still can't wrap my head around All of Me's success. It's just so random. It's not like this song is very different from what John Legend has been putting out for the past 10 years.

I still can't wrap my head around All of Me's success. It's just so random. It's not like this song is very different from what John Legend has been putting out for the past 10 years. It might be timing. He was getting press for getting married to Chrissy Teigen and she was on the cover of Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition about the time the album and song came out. She also loves twitter and had posted outtakes from the music shoot for the video for "All of Me" showing her topless in bed with him. I think stuff like that just boosted the publicity around the song. Also the song got a big push when he sang it at the Grammys & it looked like he was singing it to Chrissy in the audience adding to the romance of the song. Then it got a second push for Valentine's Day. I expect this to last through wedding season (the end of June).

I don't get the success of this.. I've listened to the song 5 times in two days and still don't recognize it when it stats playing on shuffle.

Looks like Happy might bail at about 299M...that would be quite a disappointment. Then again, maybe it's just slow updates for all songs (once again AOM is the only one to get a 2M+ AI)...and that's like 4 or 5 days in a row for Partition and Ain't It Fun getting 1M+ updates and seems like they're not slowing down...they might actually smash

The only part of 'The Man' that appeals to me is when he sings 'you can tell everybody' and I'm pretty sure that's ripping off Elton John's 'Your Song'.

Since he gives full credit to Elton John and Bernie Taupin he's not really ripping them off. That's why the Billboard articles writes things like this being one of Elton John's highest charting hits.

I wonder if Pharrells label is pushing radio to take it over the top or if they care about the record

I wonder if Pharrells label is pushing radio to take it over the top or if they care about the record I doubt that's the concern. I'm sure they are more focused on figuring out how to AVOID a BL situation with follow-up singles. It would be a shame for P to have this massive hit (following the two massive features) and not be able to mine at least one follow-up hit single.

Yes- case in point, "Blurred Lines" and "Get Lucky." Follow-ups weren't expected to be anywhere near as successful, but even considering that, they were disappointments, commercially. But, those tracks also happened to feature him- so maybe Pharrell can score a semi-deceent-sized hit with a follow-up.

I'd be fine with Pharrell's next single having that sort of success.

I'd be fine with Pharrell's next single having that sort of success. I expected it to do better because it had a good feel to it. I also figured the momentum from BL would carry it further and longer than it did. It's not like Robin was a new artist, so I thought, despite his recent, previous track record, he might get the benefit. Pharrell's also in an odd position because Happy was recorded for a ST and released nearly a year ago on the DM2 ST, it took a long journey to breakthrough and it more tacked onto G.I.R.L. than it being an organic offshoot of the project. Regardless of what happens, I doubt Pharrell will be too disappoint considering he's been involved with three key songs during the past year.

Pharrell will be hosting SNL this weekend and will get a chance to promote his new single then. That should help.

This wouldn't count because it doesn't have the official audio, right?
