did Marron 5 - Love Somebody make top 5 CHR? It was a big radio hit, and was very forgettable. Yes, I believe it got to #2. Too soon to really call that "forgotten", but it might well fall through the proverbial cracks with time, as M5 has a bunch of other hits that were bigger and/or more memorable. Hadn't thought of that; it's been in my iTunes account for years and I still like/listen to it a lot, but it's been awhile since I've heard it anywhere else. Same goes for "Second Chance".

Nice to see "Lovestoned" in the "2 For 1" segment. They haven't played that one in a long time. #spoileralert, but I do agree that this is one of JT's more forgotten hits. (It peaked at #4). Speaking of which... Just checked Kworb for the Recurrent list... "Suit & Tie" is nowhere to be found. Is he also struggling to gain recurrent spins?

Eh, I'm not surprised by S&T struggling to get recurrent spins. It had a major strong pushback from radio despite it being JT's lead single. And after he gave them Mirrors, Pop finally had something from him that fit better onto their playlists.

Yeah I;m sure Mirrors is siphoning spins from Suit & Tie. I'd say the same thing is happening to Born This Way thanks to The Edge of Glory.

I think the most recent "Forgotten" Top 5 is "Good Time." In three years no one will know what that song was. I've heard it at least 6 times in the past year. The most recent forgotten top 5 is "Too Close" by Alex Clare. Once it went recurrent I never heard it again.

If this were top 10, I'd honestly have to go with If I Were A Boy considering it gets no airplay whatsoever anymore. If Day N Nite hit top 10, I think it did, it would also be one I'm sure.

I know that the original post refers to recurrent airplay, but the bigger question is "What top 5 songs are 'forgotten?'" I think that the general public is forgetting about "Good Time" (not to be confused with "Good Life," which has unbelievable recurrent play) pretty quickly.

So it has a good afterlife, coincidental considering the songs name. And yes Good Time is very forgotten, mostly by me because I didn't really like it.

The "Suit and Tie"/"Mirrors" situation applies to Beyoncé here, even more so. "If I Were a Boy" was still moving up the chart when radio turned to "Single Ladies" which became the much bigger and better-remembered hit. IIRC, Kid Cudi's "Day N Nite" only got to the mid-teens.

"Good Time" is mostly forgotten, especially compared to "Call Me Maybe" and "Fireflies". Though "Too Close" is fading even faster. I'm sure most CHR listeners have forgotten who Alex Clare is by now.

"Demos" by Imagine Dragons isn't forgotten yet but it will likely be overshadowed by "Radioactive" in the next few years.

A LOT of songs that went top 10 in the past I haven't heard since on CHR radio ("Addicted", "How Do You Sleep", "Fall For You", "What You Got", "The Only Exception", "Boyfriend", "Alive").

"The Only Exception" only peaked at #12. Paramore (not counting Hayley Williams' features for others) never hit the top 10 until "Still Into You", with "Ain't It Fun" now joining it. Good call on "Fall For You"; that's another one I listen to a lot on my own, enough so that I forget that it's been a long time since I heard it on radio. Secondhand Serenade followed it with "Your Call", which wasn't a CHR hit at all, but is one of my personal favorite should've-beens.

"Demons" by Imagine Dragons isn't forgotten yet but it will likely be overshadowed by "Radioactive" in the next few years. Maybe on CHR, but I'm sure "Demons" will last much longer on AC (which "Radioactive" is too hard for).

Not really that surprising considering that it's only a year old and is still in Mediabase's Top 100 with recurrents.

It's not unusual for Top 10's to be forgotten after their time, which is why I limited the thread to Top 5 songs. TBH, songs that peak at 5 and 4 seem to fall to this fate much more often than Top 3 hits. But Top 5 makes for a better discussion.

Wait, there are more than three rock groups in the world???? :O MIND = BLOWN! haha A list of (I think) top 5 hits that never get airplay. Puddle of Mudd - "Blurry" Staind - "It's Been Awhile" Linkin Park - "What I've Done", "New Divide" Shinedown - "Second Chance" Finger Eleven - "Paralyzer" My Chemical Romance - "Welcome to the Black Parade" Buckcherry - "Sorry" Saving Abel - "Addicted" Hinder - "Lips of An Angel" Shinedown - "Second Chance"

Lol Staind, I always forget that they were a thing once.
For Linkin Park, the only song from them that I really hear a lot these days is Numb.

The others were. The Puddle of Mudd and Staind hits were from 2001-02, which is probably too long ago to expect much recurrent play except at rock, alternative, and Hot AC stations that play a lot of recurrent/gold stuff, especially given their lack of recent hits. I sometimes hear Linkin Park hits recurrently, though not at CHR; "Numb" is kind of a special case as the Jay-Z mashup version gave it a second chart run and got it onto more rhythmic-oriented stations.
