I don't think I've ever heard Hinder on CHR radio since "Lips Of An Angel"... Idk if KIIS even touched that...

Even though "Dance, Dance" by Fall Out Boy peaked higher than "Sugar, It's Going Down," it's pretty much forgotten unless you're a fan of the band.
Same with Fort Minor, "Where'd You Go" peaked MUCH higher than "Remember The Name" but the latter is the more remembered song.

Fan status aside, I at times hear "Sugar...", "Dance...", "Thanks for the Mmrs" (not a top 10 hit) and the recent "My Songs Know..." recurrently.

It seems most of the "Forgotten" Top 5's are songs that only went "Top 5" because they were released off of momentum, or because they were sung by a major artist. Had those songs in fact been 1st singles, or sung by a new artist, they probably wouldn't have even gotten airplay.
"Senorita" by Justin Timberlake is a perfect example. So is "Summer Love,"....both of these Timberlake tracks only got airplay because the first 3 or 4 songs were so huge that radio couldn't avoid playing them.

About that song I linked, it's pretty forgotten today....
because it peaked at #33 on Active in 1992.

What is Thinking about you? Calvin Harris Calvin Harris has never had strong momentum at radio where it's to the point that he has "automatic" hits. Each single he releases, takes months and months to become a hit, and none of them have even peaked at #1. So when the next single comes along, the "momentum" starts from scratch, if you will. Like that song with Ellie Goulding which took nearly six months to become a hit. And now "Summer," is huge at radio, but it is sort of just "there" isn't it? Not really anywhere close to the top of the charts in airplay or on Itunes, but still a big hit. That's how i'd describe the success of every single he releases. And the next one will take forever to become a hit too, if it becomes one. He's the type of artists whose hits peak between #8-#3.

After that, every other single from 18 Months was released in the U.S., ending with "Thinking About You" (which was released hella late anyway). If the artist takes super long to release a song to radio, the momentum is basically "from scratch". Ellie Goulding has been close to the top with "Burn" and she essentially started from scratch, since ACH flopped and INYL was losing steam.

You can't really blame him or his record label for that tho. If a song is still gaining, slowly but consistently, you shouldn't release a follow up until it loses its bullet. And even with that, I remember on a few occasions the Ellie Goulding/Calvin Harris track lost its bullet several times and still regained it. One Republic is another good example of this. The follow up to "Counting Stars" was released 11 months later, because the song was such a massive hit with longevity, that the record label knew if they were to release a quick follow up it wasn't going to go anywhere. So the best thing for them was to just ride it out. Now "Love Runs Out," is destined to be another hit, but the momentum is completely lost and it will be another slow burner for them.

We got waaay off topic here, the question was which Madonna top-5 hit is more forgotten, "4 Minutes" or "Die Another Day"?

Not the first time One Republic have had slow-climbing hits. "All the Right Moves" was issued in fall 2009, the first single from the "Waking Up" album, and didn't peak at CHR until April or May 2010 IIRC. In fall 2011 "Good Life" was still strong at radio, two full years after the album was released. Neither has received much recurrent play as we know, but I'd give the edge to "4 Minutes". At least "Die Another Day" has the James Bond film association.

Were either of them CHR hits? I thought the point of the thread was to find CHR hits that no one would care about.

I feel like Neon Lights, which peaked at #5 this year is definitely gonna be forgotten pretty quickly While it's a bit too soon to call them forgotten, I've rarely heard Demi's other big hits, "Give Your Heart a Break" and "Heart Attack", since they finished their chart runs.

Yeah, it's definitely too soon for NL to be forgotten but years from now it's not gonna be remembered which is what I was trying to say

Which one-time Top 5 smash do we think is more forgotten: 4 Minutes or Die Another Day?? I still hear "4 Minutes" every once in a while on the radio. I've never heard "Die Another Day" on the radio, seen the video on TV, or even heard anyone mention it in casual conversation. This may just be because "4 Minutes" is more recent.
